    At the 9 minute mark they called a foot fault on an erne by Jorja, her foot went in the kitchen then out of the kitchen before the ball went over the net. and both feet were out of the kitchen when she struck the ball. I thought you were aloud in the kitchen as long as you get out of the kitchen before you strike the ball?

    • @nchambers007
      @nchambers007 Год назад

      Volleys are illegal if any part of your body / equipment touches the kitchen before or during the volley (and even after the volley if it's caused by your momentum). That is called "re-establishing" that you're once again properly outside the kitchen.
      ...
      here's one example of why that's part of the rule:
      Otherwise you could be in the kitchen, have a shot coming at you, jump backwards, hit it on the volley while you're still mid-air, then land out of the kitchen and be legal.

      Look at her left foot at 8:26 as she starts to jump over the kitchen for the Ernie. She then hits the ball before both feet are established outside the NVZ. I could be wrong, but if she ran through the NVZ and established both feet on the ground before hitting her shot then it would not have been a fault; but that's not really an Ernie or too likely to happen.

    These are my favorite PPA announcers! Great Chemistry. One thing they could clarify is the rule regarding THE KITCHEN. You can go in there all day long. BUT you can only hit the ball after it bounces in The Kitchen. You can not volley the ball (i.e. hitting it in the air before it bounces) while being in The Kitchen or even having a foot on a Kitchen line. Now I think the rule also states a player must be SET (both feet fully on the ground) after they've gone in the kitchen to dink or hit the pickleball.

    I get really annoyed when Ben/ALW play against someone and the announcers act like EVERY SINGLE UNFORCED ERROR is somehow an offensive showcase from Ben and ALW. Jorja Johnson frames an easy put away off an ALW poach and somehow all they talk about is how good of a poacher ALW is. Holy fuck just call the game and stop hugging their nuts.

    I thought the rule governing a let serve was removed in the 2023 rules. Why was Anna Leigh's serve at 7:18 called a let serve to be re-served?

    Dave Fleming's commentary is honestly annoying. He makes too many assumptions about what the players were thinking when they did a certain thing and tries too hard to embellish plays. For example, "Ben Johns has to get his reps in for his later match today so he stepped over to take that half of the court." I know he's not serious about that but there's just way too much of that kind of stuff. I know your job is probably more boring without doing that but stop it dude, or let someone else take over next season

      in this case, this was broadcasted on CBS, a major network that also has tennis and other sports coverage, and not just streamed online. CBS is televised in many different places. For this reason, its for the viewers who are not as familiar with the game at the pro level, which is a very high likelihood there's a large viewership in this category. They do the same thing whenever there's an exhibition event with current / ex pro tennis players competing or even pro games that have ex pro tennis players in it, since its very likely people will tune in to watch the tennis players without ever being exposed to pickleball prior. Especially if it's a somewhat renowned tennis player.

      Pickleball announcers are sooo awful. Agreed. It’s like we’re being forced to watch PB with them. I wish they’d be like regular sports commentators and just speak about what’s going on. That’ll be helpful to those of us who can’t quite watch the game because we’re multitasking. So annoying.

    georgia played great, but she needs to learn to be a pro ... complaining and arguing with the referee over the obvious forward motion fault was embarrassing. you're a pro, take the call and play on or challenge it. don't sit there and argue with him.

    Referee is wrong. After she volleyed, she already took a few steps back. She steps on the line she is trying to get another shot. If she volleyed and her foot stepped in right way, that’s momentum fault. The referee and the commenter are all biased
