Was so excited to see this NA release I bought one for myself as a birthday gift. Little did I know that the supply would far exceed the demand and I could have gotten a good discount if I happened to wait 6-7 months after its initial release. But agree it’s a fun toy… especially since I haven’t had a new Valkyrie since the 1980s!
Thank you so much for doing a review of this figure and welcome back! I'm so glad to finally hear an honest review of the toy. Very much appreciate the comparison to the Renewal versions and any changes, no matter how minor. I was never a huge fan of the Renewal toys, they were always just okay. Not terrible, but outside of fighter mode they lack the solid build of the best variable fighter toys. So I was looking for any major changes to the build in this new figure. Again, thank you for your fairness and candor in the video, it's all too rare in toy reviews. Looking forward to more, especially now that the Hi-Metal R line is back with a bang!
I hate that shoulder joint issue you had on your 25G toy. Currently dealing with the hinge on my Isamu Durandal, it still loosens after I drop some superglue on it.
Glad to see a new video! you can tighten up the shoulders on your "Micheal" toy with some blue loctite. It's a thermoplastic and can tighten up any metal to metal joints that have loosened. I have handled my WWM VF25 a lot these past six months and the joints are tight thanks to good old blue loctite.
I'm interested in how you repaired your shoulder joints. Did you disassemble the joint before applying the loctite or do you apply it similar to floor polish where you squeeze it into the joints and sort of move it around to mold it? Are you using the loctite thread locker blue that I see on amazon?
@@utinni1715 that's exactly how I do it for the shoulders. It's best to loosen the screw on the underside to help get it in there, then tighten down before it sets. For the hips, I tool the legs off by loosening the three screws and I coated the ball in blue loctite. Yes the blue threadlocker is the one. Red is too permanent, the blue can be removed.
@@aarronwootton just so i understand better i am assuming youre talking about working the loctite into the joints and not disassembling it. From what youre saying, the loctite dries sort of like a soft plastic? Also thanks for sharing this, ive always heard of the floor polish method but i was never sure if it worked well on metal joints (i may be putting too little layers or something).

Excited that youre back to review this. Ive been hesitant to open mine since some forums talked alot about qc or material issues and I am interested on your thoughts about this. I believe I read that from one forum that a lot of people got broken joints that snapped if i remember correctly and some reviews reporting that the plastic feels cheaper or thinner than previous releases.
I didn't notice the plastic feeling cheaper, it just has a different finish to it. I did see some complaints about people getting ones that didn't fit together well but I think that's the usual % of bad apples that slip past QC. Mine came out very nice and I'm very happy with it.
Some of the joints can snap, but this is also just part of executing the Macross designs in ( mainly ) plastic, with metal interacting in places. The tail, hips, and shoulders especially have been previous weak spots, but I think BanDai has mostly solved their issues with those to a large degree. Have not handled a "version 1" DX VF - 25 toy, so can not comment on the thickness of plastic, but this toy feels plenty sold and that it can last. The special Anniversary toys generate interest, but move kind of slow after initial hype. This video made my day better, and this BanDai DX VF - 25 toy can be lots of fun - and the mate paint and plastics are like a premium they added. I would recommend this toy, even if is the only Macross Frontier mecha in your collection - it can fit in.

I was excited for my first on release dx macross purchase but i was just hesitant on opening it since i saw a report(s?) of catastrophic failure in the joints which i havent seen on other vf 25 renewals. I definitely feel like i can rest easy with this review and your experience!
Nice review, they fixed some part BUT not others, the articulation is the most important part of an articulated toy, especially if you change the position frequently =P, that made a evident difference on the past version, I can't velibe they realese the toy with that kind of problems and took some time to fix it... Weird, on the Gundam reviews don't exist that kind of details. I'm so happy you back on RUclips, I waithing the next review!.

I dont see a much of a difference in the renewal versions. I did notice price drops on the older renewal versions however probably because of the new renewal versions anticipated to be released.
Agreed, minimal difference other than the matte finish between this toy and the 'renewal' toys. I think they're calling the upcoming reissues of the renewal toys "revival toys" with Super Alto and Super Michael leading the way... hopefully Armored Ozma not far behind.
Have you seen Macross Delta Movie: Absolute Live yet? Granddaddy Maximilian Genius showing his Granddaughter and the next gen pilots how its done. The return of the Megaroad 1. They only show it for a brief moment but you can see two silohettes in the window of the bridge just before it folds out. Thats got to be Hikaru and Misa. Hope their story gets told someday.

I wonder how much bigger would the toy have to be to include a Cyclone in storage mode in all 3 modes. When one uses a shield they are not cowering. They are waiting for the right time before continuing the attack.

Yes, sorry, I do separate transformation guides from reviews because sometimes people have their new toy and just want to walk through transformation with a video. Search my channel for VF-25 and you'll find guides forward and back for transformation (I might have forgotten to add the cards).
I stopped a long time ago trying to buy any of these products Bandai never ever produces enough of these they all sell out within days and then the price triples why in the world band I won’t produce enough of these for everybody is beyond me Bandai doesn’t seem to care that they make a couple thousand of these somebody else buys them all up and sells them for twice even three times the original price so Bandai is allowing other people to get more rich off of their product that’s just crazy
That's changing when it comes to Macross products. Now that Bandai can sell them worldwide, it's usually pretty easy to get them at retail. The toy in this video even was available from some sellers at a discount for a while. The only exception are toys from the original SDF Macross since those are still limited to Japan.
Just want to ask the shoulder - elbow join, how to avoid scratches when turn back to fighter jet mode, i mean not much i can do, the metal back plate are rigid and the part form is tend to scratch, even when i careful to move it... Mine already scratched in few parts 😢

@@utinni1715 yes, that is what I meant. Apply and wiggle the joint to work it in. Disassembling to apply works great as well.

Sadly, no display cases. I have a basement full of storage cabinets, definitely nothing impressive to look at.

Does anyone know if this MWW edition VF-25 is compatible with any of the armor/weapon packs that have come out?
100% Compatible, though the finishes will be slightly different since this is matte and those are glossy, shouldn't be much of an issue though.
