Too bad you didn’t include Never Say Never in your ranking. Would have been interesting to hear your opinion. I‘ve always had a soft spot for Connery‘s final e. Barbara Carreira remains one of the most beautiful and best Bond girls.
@@beetlebum7760 I did a Sean Connery Bond ranking back in December of 2019 and discussed the film in that video. Back when the movie was supposed to come out early 2020, that ranking was meant to be build up to No Time to Die, offer thoughts on the non-canon films and offer longer-spoiler filled thoughts on the movies. But if you want my thoughts on Never Say Never they're in my Connery ranking.
Never understood the backlash against Roger Moore. The whole point of his movies is that they’re not supposed to be fully serious. Live and let die, The spy who loved me and For your eyes only are classics in my opinion :)
I agree, Marcus - Roger Moore captured the spirit of the public in quite a comforting way. People forget that in the 1970's and 1980's, we were weary of the Cold War. I remember being at school at the time - we had films and lectures about the threat of nuclear war, we had a bunker in the grounds of the school where we would shelter if the USSR chose to strike the UK. We were fed up with the constant promise of doom on TV, and the miserable prospect of WW3. So we turned away from the windows and looked for escapism. That was found in the cinemas, and Roger Moore's Bond; his 007 films offered us an opportunity to smile, and to forget - for a while, at least - all the shit that was happening outside.

Glad to see Dalton's Bond getting some love - people often overlook his two movies. Fun fact - Goldeneye was supposed to be a Dalton movie but there were delays (changes behind the scenes, contracts and lawsuits etc.) and Dalton couldn't do the movie once it was ready to be made!
Totaly agree Dalton was highly underated thought he played Bond brilliantly ,the living daylights was superb in every way and would have it up there just behind SKYFALL and no time to die
Wish Dalton was in it sooner - View to a Kill should've been Dalton. Octopussy you can leave the camp with Moore still but View to Kill Dalton in the mix even with the younger Tanya Roberts - and you could up that action even more
I am amused by a view to a kill. I like bond films that kinda move and this one moves at a nice pace and Walken is just funny. It's an interesting twist on goldfinger
The thing with Timothy Dalton, he’s the only Bond actor thy I’m aware of who actually read all of Ian Flemings novels before playing Flemings character. As such he does everything he can to be as close as he can to how Ian Fleming wrote the character.
Sean Connery read them, even had his preferences for which ones were the best stories and therefore the ones he wanted to do. He loved From Russia With Love and considered the adaptation he led his favorite of his works. Part of his grudge against the producers was his disagreement with their choice to do You Only Live Twice instead of OHMSS (one of his favorites) in 1967!
@@SamnissArandeen I think Connery read a handful of them but not all or anywhere close to all of them. After all Connery protrail of the character Ian Fleming wrote basically ends at From Russia With Love. From Goldfinger onward he was basically playing himself. If that was part of the reason for the feud, it would more likely be due to his respect for Fleming and frustration for going so far away from the source material
Octopussy is actually really good. The location is fun, the action is great, good Bond girl, and the stunts are incredible. Love the plane finale and pre credits scene, the circus scene is really tense and exciting, and the train chase is well done. It's shit on way too much and is super underrated
It's my favorite Bond film. Not saying its the best but my personal favorite. If you edited out like a few of the very brief, corny moments in the film...which literally add up to like 30 seconds...you would basically have nothing to complain about with this film.
One of my all time favorite franchises! So happy you finally made this list! My ranking: 1. Skyfall 2. Goldfinger 3. From Russia With Love 4. Dr. No 5. Casino Royale 6. GoldenEye 7. The Spy Who Loved Me 8. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service 9. Licence to Kill 10. You Only Live Twice 11. Live and Let Die 12. No Time to Die 13. For Your Eyes Only 14. Octopussy 15. The Living Daylights 16. Spectre 17. The Man with the Golden Gun 18. Thunder ball 19. Diamonds are Forever 20. Quantum of Solace 21. The World is not Enough 22. Moonraker 23. Tomorrow Never Dies 24. Die Another Day 25. A View to a Kill Loved No Time to Die. Still processing it so it could move up on my list over time. Skyfall is just so good, has to be number 1 for me.
I recently did a James Bond marathon with my mom. She is from the Roger Moore era and has mostly seen his movies and not the others. When we got to the Craig movies, she got really hyped. At first she was nauseated by the extreme violence with Casino Royale, but by the end of the movie, she was all in! I think Daniel Craig became her favorite

Timothy Dalton 2. Pierce Brosnan 3. Sean Connery 4. Daniel Craig 5. George Lazenby 6. Roger Moore the top 4 actors are really close, but i still like the bottom 2 too.
I may be the only one but I really like Octopussy. It's part Indiana Jones-style tongue-in-cheek adventure romp/ part Cold War espionage thriller. And the scene where Bond has to defuse the bomb remains one of the tensest and most engaging in all of Bond.
I quite like it as well. The only Moore I really do not like is Man with the Golden Gun. Ironically, the opening of Man with the Golden Gun is one of my favorite scenes in the whole franchise hahaha
I enjoyed Octopussy alot too. I dont get how ppl hate that film but praises Diamonds Are Forever for example. Heck I like Octopussy just a little bit more than Goldeneye. Just a little bit
I'd put it in the lower half of the franchise, but well above the likes of A View to a Kill, Die Another Day, Diamonds are Forever, and The World is Not Enough (I just can't bring myself to hate The Man with the Golden Gun).
I just rewatched it a few days ago and you're so right. It's painfully obvious. I will say it's probably a better Dark Knight ripoff than Man of Steel. It's also the best Home Alone rip off, besides The Equalizer.
@@jordansweet8054 I don't think Man of Steel was meant to be like the dark knight save for the mood. There's no connection except Nolan being a screenwriter for both
I've never cried at a Bond movie until No Time to Die. I loved it. I was a diehard From Russia with Love and Sean Connery lover but after bingewatching Craig's movies and then going to see the finale, he might be my favourite now.
I felt the same way about NTTD. I thought it was fantastic and a perfect send-off for Craig’s version of the character. And I love how they played We Have All the Time in the World at the end.
@@cooperwolfe5478 completely agree. Glad to see it send off so well. I don't understand all the hate tbh. I even liked Spectre more and QoS after a rewatch. They are great to binge.
@@kcnbt99 Yeah I agree. I don’t think any of his films are terrible, but the only one of his that I really don’t enjoy watching is Quantum of Solace. Like I said it’s not terrible, but if I’m in the mood to watch a Craig Bond film I rarely if ever watch QoS.
Isn't it funny how James Bond and the MCU have the same number of movies outfor a shoert time? Basically four weeks fromw hen No Time to Die came out. Pokemon and Pixar should be at the same number of movies next year too.
There are 3 movies I talk about in terms of gorgeous cinematography: Prometheus, Blade Runner 2049 and Skyfall. Maybe the 3 most beautiful looking movies I've ever seen.
@@samfisher2306 I've seen it, in my opinion it's not quite as stunning as those 3 movies. Tho I didn't realize that this same gentleman also did cinemetography for Sicario which i adore as well.
As much as I love Skyfall being charming and rewatchable, Casino Royale is above any bond movie by a mile and a top spy movie regardless the Bond franchise. It has Noir vibes ( the beginning), 70’s vibes ( the airport scenes), the best Bond girl ever (probably to be unmatched for…ever), the most incredible chase and stunts in Madagascar (Bourne level), the best Villain, and most importantly: the best script, the best dialogues, best narrative.
License to Kill is sooo underrated! Nice to see some appreciation! So violent, even though Dalton isn’t my ideal Bond. It’s a great revenge movie, just what Bond SHOULD HAVE DONE in Quantum of Solace.
Dalton would have been Fleming's favorite I think. He really channels the books version of the character and the original Q actor has also shared that opinion
No its not underrated I keep hearing about it constantly on RUclips 😂 However its true that it was underrated at the time it was released but not anymore since Craig become Bond.
The BEST James Bond films are without question the first 16 films from the 1962-1989 Classic era under the guiding hand of Albert "Cubby" Broccoli, with Sean Connery, Roger Moore, George Lazenby, and Timothy Dalton... Not to mention the other great behind-the-scenes talents of this phenomenal 27-year run like Harry Saltzman, Terence Young, Guy Hamilton, Lewis Gilbert, Peter Hunt, John Glen, Richard Maibaum, John Barry, Ken Adam, and so many others. What more can I say about the films from this Classic era that hasn't already been said countless times now for the past 59 years? They literally created the template for the action/adventure movie. And so many classic moments... Bond's introduction at the baccarat table, Honey Ryder emerging from the ocean, the Aston Martin ejector seat, Bond vs. Oddjob inside Fort Knox, Bond evading gunmen with his jetpack, the S.P.E.C.T.R.E. volcano lair, Tracy's murder by Blofeld moments after Bond's wedding, Bond escaping death by running across the backs of crocodiles, Jaws pushing Bond out of an airplane without a parachute, the outer space laser battle, Bond vs. Zorin atop the Golden Gate Bridge, the tanker truck chase with Bond revenging Felix Leiter... I could go on, and on, and on... This era is "true" cinematic Bond... Pure escapist entertainment. ..All of these 16 films are iconic, timeless, original, fun, and classic Bond films, with some of them not only being great James Bond films, but also some of the greatest films ever made "period" (Those films would be, in my opinion: Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, The Spy Who Loved Me, and Moonraker)... The 1962-1989 Classic era Bond films are far and away the BEST... (my ranking of these 16 films will follow below). The WORST James Bond films are without question the Post-Classic era films (1995-2021) under the bungled mishandling of Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, with Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig... Unfortunately, once most of the original key talent was gone by the end of the 80's, and then after a 6-year hiatus that saw no Bond movies made due to legal hang-ups, not to mention the declining health and soon to follow unfortunate death of Albert R. Broccol... Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli took over the producing reins, and new but lesser creative talent was brought in to forge the new era starting in the 90's... That is when things started to go horribly wrong. Everything that followed after that was either an uninspired, rehashed, overblown, frenetic shoot-'em-up "greatest hits" era that became self-parody by its end (that being most of the Pierce Brosnan era - the worst that I thought the Bond series would ever sink to... That is, until I was proven wrong when it horrifyingly got even worse with what followed) or a dreary, downbeat, minimalistic, pretentious melodrama under the guise of a so-called "bold reimagined" era that stripped away all the fun and great tropes that made Bond "Bond", to the point that it could barely be recognized as a Bond film anymore (that being the Daniel Craig era - the absolute bottom of the barrel dreck). This Post-Classic era gave us a plethora of asinine "gems" such as Bond surfing an incredibly fake CGI tsunami, and the revelation that James Bond and Blofeld are in fact long-lost step-brothers... "Yikes"... The Post-Classic era Bond films made after the Classic era are far and away the WORST... Below is my ranking of the 16 Classic era James Bond 007 films. #01. Goldfinger #02. Thunderball #03. You Only Live Twice #04. Moonraker #05. The Spy Who Loved Me #06. From Russia With Love #07. Dr. No #08. Diamonds Are Forever #09. The Man With The Golden Gun #10. Live And Let Die #11. Octopussy #12. A View To A Kiil #13. On Her Majesty's Secret Service #14. Licence To Kill #15. The Living Daylights #16. For Your Eyes Only It is so hard to rank these 16 films, as I love them all so much... Sure, some maybe a little more than others, but I do absolutely love them all. The order in which I put them is simply my own personal preference. Now, you can certainly dispute the particular order in which I ranked them if you choose, that's fine... Even I slightly switch some of them around occasionally. To be truthful, I would be crazy if I didn't admit that the first five Sean Connery films (DN, FRWL, GF, TB, and YOLT) are actually the top five best Bond films ever made... I mean "come on"... I'm not kidding myself... those are the gold standard and Holy Grail of cinematic Bond... No other Bond film that exists now or is yet to be made can compete with these five films... They are masterpieces... "period"... Now, having said all that... I grew up during the Roger Moore era, and my first two experiences as a youngster seeing a James Bond film in a movie theater were TSWLM in 1977 and MR in 1979. Seeing those films on the big screen at that time in my life left such an impression on me (I was blown away), and I still adore them to this day... I just had to place them amongst those first five Sean Connery films in my ranking (I'm sure that some of you out there had the same experience... so can you blame me?)... In any event, no matter which order you prefer to put them in, you can not dispute the fact that these 16 films are the best Bond movies, and that this was the best era. The 1962-1989 Classic era from Albert R. Broccoli was like catching lightning in a bottle, and these 16 films are cinematic gold... They have stood the test of time and will forever define what a great 007 movie is... Each movie is so special and unique in its own way... Sean Connery will always be the very best Bond, however Roger Moore is definitely right on his heels (in actuality, I would say that he more or less shares the #1 spot with Connery). When it comes to Connery and Moore... nobody did it better (pun intended). George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton were terrific as well... It is an absolute crime that neither Lazenby or Dalton got to do more films, but it is a testament to them both that they accomplished so much with such few films... they were both great... Unfortunately, the remaining films from the past 59 years (with two possible exceptions, and I will get to them) don't even exist in my eyes and, as I said before, I won't even waste my time ranking them as there is no point... Regarding the other actors that have played Bond, they didn't do anything for me (Pierce Brosnan was pretty generic, and Daniel Craig was totally miscast... the worst thing to ever happen to the series). As I eluded to above, the only other two Bond films that basically got it right and could possibly come close to being included with the Classic era films (if I felt like being generous, that is) are: #17. Never Say Never Again (made at the same time as the Classic era films, but not an official entry), and #18. Goldeneye (Yes, I know this is a Post-Classic era film...the only acceptable one from that era so far... if only they could have stayed on this course... oh, well). However, I keep these two off the list because, even though I think that they are passable films, the official Classic era films are members of a very exclusive club that not just any Bond film can join... Those films are that special. In the end, I'm fine with only including the first 16 official films on my "Best of" list. The Classic era was simply magical, and these 16 films are the best... Back when the Bond films were grand escapist entertainment... Leaping from the pages of the Ian Fleming books to the big screen for the first time, and changing the world of cinema in the process... Fresh, pioneering, fun (with tongue planted firmly in cheek), exotic, classy and sophisticated... and most importantly, made in the correct style and tone by the original talent that created the series in the first place. Now, are all of the Classic era films "perfect" films? Most of them are, yes, but not all of them... However, even the few that do have some minor flaws still manage to get the most crucially important elements right, which absolutely allow them to still be called the best Bond films as well. As we approach the 60th anniversary of the James Bond films next year in 2022, I pray for the day that the series will return to the high quality level and tried-and-true familiar roots of the Classic era, but I am not very optimistic, given the path that the series has continued to take since the Post-Classic era began... However, I like to remain positive, and the filmmakers do now have the ability to course-correct since they have a clean slate to work with now that the Daniel Craig era has thankfully come to an end... I will continue to live in hope that maybe one day soon (as is stated after the end credits of every film) "JAMES BOND WILL RETURN"... and for the first time in many years, it will actually be true again,. And finally... If I really, really, really, felt like being generous, I would be remiss if I didn't give at least a little bit of love to one more James Bond film... the black sheep of the family: Casino Royale (the unofficial 1967 spoof with David Niven, that is... not the other one). Regardless of it being something of a convoluted mess, it is still an amusing send-up and time capsule of the whole James Bond/spy film craze of the 1960's... and I can appreciate it for that. Anyway, that is my ranking of, and thoughts on, one of the greatest film series of all time... The James Bond films. If you made it this far... I thank you so much for reading this. And remember... If you see a mad professor in a minibus... just smile. Watch the 1962 -1989 CLASSIC ERA James Bond TRIBUTE TRAILER ruclips.net/video/Ei7qX8sNtdU/видео.html
Hey mate, really enjoyed reading your comment. I 100% agree about the classic era being far superior to the modern era Bonds. The Brosnan era is absolute trash in my opinion. His films were extremely goofy, but also asked the audience to take them seriously. It was begging to be parodied. Then with Die Another Day they went ahead and parodied James Bond. (Although my absolute least favorite in the entire franchise is TWINE). GoldenEye was just ok. I think Brosnan seemed unconfident and overly timid. His “Bond James Bond” was embarrassing. Daniel Craig is very unlikeable to me. All the other Bonds were. He just seems like a complete prick and it’s hard to care about him as a protagonist. I get that it’s a different take, but he just plain sucks. Also you hear about him getting on as a producer and all this shit in No Time To Die and it makes you wonder if he had a creative say in the story. And with the decisions they made it seems a little fucked up to me. Idk I like your ranking, but I think Octopussy is too low. I think it’s a top 5 Bond film and Moore’s best. Also MWTGG is great. I see a lot of people hate on that film. Best villain and henchman in my opinion. Nick Nack has an extremely unique and compelling relationship with Scaramanga. He is also very unpredictable and almost decapitates Moore with a trident. Mary Goodnight is great too. I don’t agree with YOLT being so high. I am really bothered by his performance. He almost actively tries to act poorly it seems. Especially the voice over lines. Sounds like he’s pissed off he has to be working or something. It’s my least favorite film of the classic era. I want to like it more, but I can’t. I do not recommend that you watch this channel’s Bond actor ranking. Lol. It’s pretty damn bad. Hey cheers mate!
@@A_Hotdog_Guy Thank you so much for the kind comments. It's nice to know that indeed there are people out there that "get it" when it comes to the Bond series. I have been going through all of these "best of / worst of" lists the past couple of days, and after constantly seeing so many Classic era Bonds ranked so low, while constantly seeing Casino Royale, Skyfall, No Time To Die, Goldeneye, and Tomorrow Never Dies in almost every person's top 10, I kind of freaked out and felt that I had to be a voice of sanity and type this out (and I hardly ever post messages online... it's not really my thing). By the way, if you want to rank Octopussy higher than I did, you certainly won't get any argument out of me... I agree with you, it is a fantastic film! It is so hard to rank these films when I basically love them all equally... One of them had to end up being #12, right? It is absolutely unbelievable to me how many lists I have seen that have it ranked dead last... so sad. I also completely agree with what you said about The Man With The Golden Gun... What's not to love? It's a total blast! I am sorry to hear that you have issues with You Only Live Twice that keep you from liking it more. Personally, I think that it is an absolutely perfect film and that Connery is great in it. My only advice to you would be, since you say that you would really like to appreciate it more, is to not dismiss it out of hand and keep giving it a chance every once in a while...Who knows, maybe one day you will like it more! Once again, thank you for your kind reply.
@@keithmacintyre1889 I totally understand how you’d be annoyed with all the current rankings. Obviously Bond is very dear to many of us and I share your frustration. It’s hard to see a new demographic come in and declare all these things about Bond when it can become apparent that they haven’t been lifelong fans of the franchise. It is disturbing to think that EON will probably be listening to this new demographic over the demographic that has been here from the beginning. I don’t have any faith that they will ever really return to the golden age of the classic bonds. What a shame! Makes me sad tbh. I guess the world is changing… I will absolutely try to watch YOLT again with a clear mindset. I truly love everything about the film except for Connery’s performance (I don’t even mind the “turning Japanese” scene). I’m going to try and view it in a different mindset. Thank you for the encouragement! Best of luck mate! Thank you for being a classy guy and spreading the truth about Bond. All I can say is you are NOT alone. Although we are certainly in the minority now.
The Craig Bonds are way overrated by the Facebook Generation. I think that the older films are better. They were clever and ironic. My least favourite of the classic era are THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS, A VIEW TO A KILL and NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN. The worst of the entire series easily DIE ANOTHER DAY and A QUANTUM OF SOLACE. The most underrated are LIVE AND LET DIE, YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, MOONRAKER and OCTOPUSSY.
From Russia with love, dr no and goldfinger are my favorites. Connery is the goat in my opinion. Great job sean, we all appreciate your hard work and dedication to your channel. 🤘
Connery is great, but a product of his time. I really struggle to watch, say, his rape of Pussy Galore without cringing. He's probably still my second favourite behind Craig.

I’ve seen a lot of James Bond ranking lists; all are different and respectable in their own way but this is the strangest and most questionable one I’ve seen so far by a mile
Casino and Skyfall I agree they deserve a spot in top 5 , but for me No time to die wouldn't make the top 5 or probably not the top 10, but I would have to think about it more. It all depends on rewatching if the film is fun then, but I think some people might just feel great watching it once and that is why they put it soo high. To me it is not better than Goldfirnger, on her majestise, Goldeneye, Casino Royale, Skyfall etc. because unfortunately I didn't like the plot of No time to die that much (it had holes ⭕ like for example the age of the villan) the villan himself was disappointing (Remi Malek is good but the character is not very interesting and doesn't have a lot to do) the more I think about it the less I like it.
YES I AGREE ! That's the Top 3 Best Bond movies of all time ! Casino Royale is the best, simply the most exciting, the most thrilling, the most suspensful movie with the best action and gaves the most brutal and emotional Bond: DANIEL CRAIG

@@Matt90Nine I agree with you wholeheartedly. Right around we're done in Cuba it gets Uber serious, never TOOO serious as I found Spectre to be, but still a bit disappointing. I did think the ending fit very well for this little 5 movie arc
A View To A Kill wasn't one of the best Bond films, but it was memorable, and that Duran Duran theme was one of the best of the franchise; that song felt very ahead of it's time when released.

Oof putting Quantum of Solace above Live and Let Die. That movie’s freakin hilarious. “You got a set of wheels that won’t quit, boy. If they’re yours that is”
I've only seen the ones with daniel craig, here's my ranking: 5 quantum of solace ( disappointing ) 4 spectre ( good ) 3 casino royale ( great ) 2 skyfall ( great ) 1 no time to die ( awesome )
You know the first part of the video is bullshit. His channel has been around for 2 movies. Possibly 3 depending when the 2012 movie came out compared to when he started his channel in 2012
I watched Skyfall in London at the O2 Arena after a few days of siteseeing and it was exhilarating to see the places I literally just saw hours ago and watch a movie as incredible as Skyfall.
I saw a list where Tomorrow Never Dies was ranked above Goldeneye and Licence To Kill. I only agreed with two of their choices, Casino Royale as #1 and Die Another Die as last.

Yeah how funny opinions work. Octopussy is my top 1. It is a great bond movie with an ok villain, beautiful locations, great bond girl, confusing but fun plot. Roger Moore does not look as bad as he does in a View to a Kill. Plus with Maud Adams, she looks a bit older and I think she could have a relationship with Bond. It has spy gadgets, cool jokes, and a superb climax.
Sean has a strange taste of films because he has stated numerous times that he loves cheesy action movies, and he hates Roger Moore, it's like a complete joke

Since Casino Royal clearly Daniel Craig! For me, my journey with James Bond ends with him, it doesn't get any better than that. He made the character so emotional, human, and yet was still the tough agent. Also, he broke my heart with the ending of No Time to Die, I would have wanted Daniel Craig's James Bond to have a happy ending, even if it was cheesy.
Exactly ! exactly ! Daniel was the most brutal but also most human Bond ! Yes sad ending but great conclusion to his story. Daniel for me is the best Bond and his era ended amazingly
OK. Now for a little perspective. I grew up in Louisville Kentucky. At the age of about 12 i used to catch the bus down the street from my house that went to downtown Louisville about 20 miles away. My mother would give me $10 and I would go spend the afternoon on 4th Street at one of the various movie houses depending on what was playing. We are talking 1961 or so here. I saw my first James Bond movie at about 13 years old. It was Dr. No. Not long after, I saw From Russia With Love, and then Goldfinger. So I’ve been around since the very earliest days of the Bond franchise. Prior or watching the movies however, I had read the books. Over the process of a couple of years I had read all of Ian Fleming’s James Bond books. So I knew Bond well, who he was, what he did! If you want to know Bond, you MUST read the books!! I remember as a junior in high school when On Her Majesty’s Secret Service came out in print. It was the last book that Ian Fleming wrote, and he hadn’t finished it when he died. So another author stepped in and completed that book. I loved that book and the story. I was sorely disappointed when the movie came out with Lazenby as Bond, and little similarity to the book. I’ve always been disappointed that they strayed so far away from the books in making the movies - all of them. After that Roger Moore. A joke. I was familiar with Roger Moore from his series the Saint, which was done in the early 60s. To see him as Bond was unfortunate to say the least. His first couple of bond movies were OK, but not Bond. Boat chases through the bayou? Stereotypical fat Southern sheriff? Come on. The latter movies were farcical and I didn’t care for them at all. Octopussy is absolutely the worst. Enter Timothy Dalton. His two efforts were OK, but I don’t think the audience cared for him, but he was better than Moore. Now we have Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. I think Daniel Craig is an improvement over other bonds other than Connery, and perhaps Brosnan, but the movies he made are not Bond. While I won’t rank all of the movies as you have, I’ll give you my top three. First is Goldfinger. This is the ultimate James Bond. It may not be the best movie, but it’s the best Bond. My number two pic is From Russia With Love. If you want the best Bond, that’s where you find him. Third is Goldeneye. I liked this movie despite the un-Bond tank chase!! I used to go to the theater to see the latest Bond movie, but stopped after the first couple of Moore efforts. Even before Sean Connery left the part of Bond, the producers were beginning to deviate from the Bond character of the books, and adding in gimmicks and other distractions to keep people from thinking how far away from Bond they were actually getting. I’m a purist. Bond was a suave sophisticated spy, ladies man smoker and drinker, gambler, who was sly, calculating and cleaver and used his brains and wits more than he used his submarine car or jet pack to solve the mystery and get the bad guys. In the intervening years between Connery‘s end, and Daniel Craig‘s last movie, the producers of the left bond behind and have turned him into an action hero of the Bruce Willis/Arnold Schwarzenegger type. And that’s not the real Bond. The real Bond died after Lazenby, who despite being a horrible actor, actually tried to portray him in the Connery mold. Those are my thoughts, for what they are worth. Love your channel! Keep it up! John Gregory

I really enjoyed your ranking. My top three in no specific order is Goldfinger, Skyfall and Casino Royale. I also have Goldeneye and the new Bond film No Time do Die in the top 5. Even though Daniel Craig is not my favorite Bond, his movies are the best of the Franchise.
@@garyjones2561 he also got his face stretched out when he was killed in Star Trek Insurrection. Persistent head trauma is a strange niche for an actor to have.

1. Skyfall 2. Casino Royale 3. From Russia with Love 4. GoldenEye 5. Thunderball 6. Goldfinger 7. No Time to Die 8. The Spy Who Loved Me 9. Live and Let Die 10. Dr. No 11. The Living Daylights 20. You Only Live Twice 21. Diamonds Are Forever 22. Quantum of Solace 23. A View to a Kill 24. Moonraker 25. Die Another Day
Yeah I agree. I think that’s mainly due to how long the franchise has been around, where no one’s lost is the same and honestly I think that’s a great thing.
Really great list Sean. Just got out of No Time To Die, a fantastic conclusion to the best Bond ever, Daniel Craig. Casino Royale is definitely #1, it’s not only the best Bond film but one of the best action films ever made.
I think the movies he chose for b the top five are the right movies, the order can be debated though. I didn't like the way the Villain was written in this film meaning, the actor, Mr Malek, is a terrific actor that could have been utilized in a much more complex and dangerous way. And I thought skyfall was in my opinion the best although Goldfinger is my favorite. Skyfall knocked me on my ass and movies don't do that often
Believe Dalton was expecting to make 4/5 Bonds from 87 into the mid/late nineties. Cubby Brocoli would not have appointed him otherwise. However the 6 year gap saw Dalton get interested in other projects.
6 Best films from each Bond (IMO) 6. OHMSS - George Lazenby (1) 5. License To Kill - Timothy Dalton (2) 4. The Spy Who Loved Me - Roger Moore (6) 3. Goldeneye - Pierce Brosnan (4) 2. Casino Royale - Daniel Craig (5) 1. Goldfinger - Sean Connery (7)
Very good list. I agree with about 80-90% of your choices (I'd swap Casino Royale for Skyfall for #1, & I'd put OHMSS higher up). I also agree that No Time To Die was the most emotional (I like how it had some Easter Eggs to past Bond films, too). Fun watch!
I actually think Skyfall suffers a lot from its pacing. The story doesn't seem to start until half into the movie. While Casino Royale was super effective and very beautiful. I also agree No Time To Die is full of emotion.
I have a hard time nailing down specific places in my list, but my top 10 would include (in no particular order), No Time to Die, Skyfall, Casino Royale, Golden Eye, License to Kill, The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Goldfinger, and From Russia with Love. Can't wait for the next Bond, and where the franchise goes.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service 5. The Living Daylights 4. For Your Eyes Only 3. Goldfinger 2. The Spy Who Loved Me 1. From Russia With Love.
Octopussy in last place? Maybe you should watch that film again. They did try to compensate for Bond’s age by casting an older Bond girl. Although I agree they could have done more. Moore looks much better in this film than AVTAK. It’s clear that he was the recipient of some truly botched plastic surgery. Yes it contains a few goofy gags, but the plot is actually much stronger than most. The stunts action scenes are some of the best. Roger gets 3 consecutive headshots and also slides down the staircase banister while firing a machine gun. There’s a dope train and plane sequence and an erotic assault on the Villains lair. General Orlov is also absolutely insane and is a fantastic side villain.
@@landrya9938 True. Imagine Dalton in A View to a Kill? I still love that film with mole-less Roger Moore, but I think Dalton would have been incredible in it.
@@A_Hotdog_Guy I like Dalton’s debut in Living Daylights a lot but him pitted against Christopher Walken would have been legendary and probably an even better debut film than Goldeneye which I love.
For me it would be much better had the silly antics be trimmed down or removed. I like Maud Adams in the role (better than her part in MWTGG) and I agree some of the action is genuinely quite good. It's not the worse but its for sure hovering around the bottom

Maybe a controversial list but 5. Spectre (I like it a lot but it's final act is a massive disappointment. Some of the laziest action of the series) 4. Quantum of Solace (underrated, some shotty editing, but still a fast paced action thriller that continues the casino royale story well. 3. Casino Royale (my top 3 are all 10 out of 10s, I love them all, but as great as this movie is I prefer the more classic bond feel of my top two) 2. Skyfall (exceptional movie, a great deconstruction of the character) 1. No Time To Die (this film may drop a spot or two on re watches. But my initial reaction was pure positivity, this movie has this vibe that just had me buzzing the whole time. It's silly at times but that adds to how much fun it is. And the action is the best of the franchise for sure.)
dude for me too! when watching for first time, i felt fantastic and as if it was the best james bond film. but after thinking about it, its now no. 2 below skyfall
Casino Royals, Skyfall, and No Time to Die are all so good to me that are really interchangeable for me and would probably change up amongst themselves each time.

Saw that in theaters opening day first showing. Ironically, the people who drove me and my friend to the theater went and saw spaceballs. @@dfcintron i love cold-blooded Bond too. Dalton is very serious and he's my favourite Bond, but it might be the worst edited blockbuster action movie I've ever seen. i really have no clue what is going on in any scene. even when they are just talking and there is no action the editing is still distracting. with the script, you can tell there was a writer's strike during this time too.

@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout Cool! Thanks a lot for the reply, I’ll check out your Connery Bond ranking then.
Never understood the backlash against Roger Moore. The whole point of his movies is that they’re not supposed to be fully serious. Live and let die, The spy who loved me and For your eyes only are classics in my opinion :)
The biggest problem that people have with Rodger Moore's Bond movies is that Rodger Moore's a little too much of a frou-frou James Bond
Sean connery was only great bond, no one is alpha male sigma like him
Roger Moore turned out some of the worst bond films ever. Moonraker, octopussy, joke films. He turned bond into a cartoon

Wish Dalton was in it sooner - View to a Kill should've been Dalton. Octopussy you can leave the camp with Moore still but View to Kill Dalton in the mix even with the younger Tanya Roberts - and you could up that action even more
Wanna add one thing on A View To A Kill: There is a hilariously obvious amount of stunt doubles for Roger Moore. It's comical.
Yep. He just couldn't do any of thi stuff.
It's a port since he actually learned some stuff for Golden Gun.

It's #3 for me. The podium is Daylights as mentioned, Casino Royale at #1 and From Russia With Love at #2
The living daylights has some good stuff but license to kill is better.
Not to mention, Kamal Khan was a FANTASTIC villain!
Completely agree. Octopussy has incredible action scenes and stunts, and is extremely underrated.

The only redeeming quality to this movie is the way the villain says Rupees it makes me chuckle. Otherwise I can't stand this flick.

#01. Goldfinger
#02. Thunderball
#03. You Only Live Twice
#04. Moonraker
#05. The Spy Who Loved Me

#16. For Your Eyes Only
It is so hard to rank these 16 films, as I love them all so much...
As I eluded to above, the only other two Bond films that basically got it right and could possibly come close to being included with the Classic era films (if I felt like being generous, that is) are:
If I really, really, really, felt like being generous, I would be remiss if I didn't give at least a little bit of love to one more James Bond film... the black sheep of the family:
Casino Royale (the unofficial 1967 spoof with David Niven, that is... not the other one).
If you see a mad professor in a minibus... just smile.

Idk
I like your ranking, but I think Octopussy is too low.
I guess the world is changing…
I will absolutely try to watch YOLT again with a clear mindset. I truly love everything about the film except for Connery’s performance (I don’t even mind the “turning Japanese” scene). I’m going to try and view it in a different mindset. Thank you for the encouragement!

Casino and Skyfall I agree they deserve a spot in top 5 , but for me No time to die wouldn't make the top 5 or probably not the top 10, but I would have to think about it more. Never say never again was the bond film that had me fall in love with the series yet is rarely ever mentioned. It’s unfortunate it doesn’t get the respect it deserves and gets ignored in the bond atmosphere.
I am hoping and praying for Tom Hardy to be the new bond with Idris Elba as his partner, another 00! Now that would be classy.
They're both too established. They like to go with someone that doesn't already have a franchise.
He's too old and too expensive. Same with Cavill and Elba. The next Bond will be a relatively unknown 30 something.
Richard Madden would get my vote

Yeah how funny opinions work. Octopussy is my top 1. It is a great bond movie with an ok villain, beautiful locations, great bond girl, confusing but fun plot. Roger Moore does not look as bad as he does in a View to a Kill. Plus with Maud Adams, she looks a bit older and I think she could have a relationship with Bond. It has spy gadgets, cool jokes, and a superb climax.
Octopussy is my favorite of all the Moore films. And my top 5 most favorite of the entire franchise.

Literally Sean Connery roger moore and pierce shit all over Craig 😂

I just love Bond talk and I'm so glad you glued these rankings together! Nice job Sean!
a really intelligent bunch of reviews that understands what Bond needs to be! salute!
You deserve a thumbs up just for the great placement of that Garth from Wayne’s World clip.
Believe Dalton was expecting to make 4/5 Bonds from 87 into the mid/late nineties. Cubby Brocoli would not have appointed him otherwise.
However the 6 year gap saw Dalton get interested in other projects.

Agreed. I think it would have been an excellent movie for Moore to go out on.

2 below skyfall
i'm talking about no time to die btw
Casino Royals, Skyfall, and No Time to Die are all so good to me that are really interchangeable for me and would probably change up amongst themselves each time.

Solid ranking. Even though I disagree with a lot of it, I do like how you break everything down and make a lot of interesting points and logical debates. I do LOVE how high up you rank the Dalton films, especially “Licence To Kill” criminally underrated IMO. Subscribed!
I personally wasn’t a fan of the living daylights, but license to kill was really good. Among the bests and Timothy Dalton is underrated.
Saw that in theaters opening day first showing. Ironically, the people who drove me and my friend to the theater went and saw spaceballs. Which I find ironic, the two sixth grade boys saw this gritty dark violent film that was probably too mature for them while the adults went and saw the sophomoric adolescentfilm with lines like ohhhh I bet she gives great helmet

@@crobeastness i know im in the minority. I just like cold blooded bond. I dont think he smiles once in that movie. Haha
@@crobeastness craig and the director himself had to finish the script because of the writers strike. ive seen QOS several times and the editing doesn't really bother me. Im def a fan of Dalton too. License to Kill is great.
Coincidentally I was thinking today that now you should upload your ranking of the all the Bond films😁
Fun fact: the character of James Bond himself was based after Christopher Lee
Nope real James Bond was Duško Popov, Serbian double spy who works for Mi6 during second world war.

WRONG!!!!
I'm prepared to bet it was not based solely on a single person.
@@btf_flotsam478 I already said that, Ian Fleming create James Bond as perfect man, so he probably take all best attributes from multiple men.
