I was in Vientianne in the late 90s. It was a total back water village. It wasn't even a city. The market had nothing to sell after 1pm. People were absolutely lazy with nothing to do. They were still rice farming with water buffalos right in the middle of the city. The victory monument stood there with nothing surrounding it, no garden or plaza area befitting a national monument - just five dusty lateritic earthen roads going into 5 separate directions.
It is quite interesting hear, and which is totally different from what I shot I guess. Hope you visit there again and enjoy the differences. (people are still lazy tho lol)
How did you find it getting the drone into the country? I'm heading there in a few days and I'm panicking like mad it'll get confiscated. Seen so many horror stories about them being taken at customs. Did you get a permit?
Hi Steve, thank you for watching it! I shot in Laos in end of Sep 2016, at that point, I could not find any of horrible experiences or strict laws, so I just packed my Phantom 3 into my backpack, and got through the custom.
Thank you for watching, Raymond! Haha you might got point, I believe this city has more potential and could be better if they developed the river side area more.
Việt Nia Agree. Even in the US they are considered the poorest in the Asian community. You never find anything made in Laos or any restaurants and businesses owned by Laotians. Barely.
Love Laos

From what I see, Vientiane is a very clean city! But I think that they need to expand and develop more land. Especially near the river
