I did once think that I should have all matching kit until one day many years ago i was out climbing and everything i wore and used apart from shoes was by Black Diamond. I was cured when a kid asked me if I was sponsored by Black Diamond. Mixed and matched ever since.
In answer to your question about sets, I like to mix and match. I use an OEX phoxx 2 and original OEX bush tarp to make extra storage space like a porch or to double up if it’s raining hard. Having said that I use a Vango mat and a high gear sleeping pod. I tend to get what suits me in terms of both price and function
I relate to this comment, I go for affordability and confidence in the brand. I'm yet to be let down my oex. Do you find you have more than needed now? I think I do but my excuse is its for different seasons 😂😂
As usual a well presented video, however - 1) you have hung the hammock too high, the cords (more on them later) should be no higher than your waist. Falling out from that night will hurt. Unloaded the lowest point should be about 18" 2) you have hung it too tight. When loaded at that tension you will damage the hammock, hence the sound it made when you sit in it. It should hang at about 30° unloaded. 3) although supplied with most hammocks you should never use cord to hang a hammock! First they do irreparable, permanent damage to the trees by compression. You should use tree hugger slings. Second cord can slip (as they do in the video), causing further damage to the trees and potentially to the user. 4) you should lay in them diagonally. That way you can sleep flat and more comfortably and less like a banana!
Hi Dan love the channel mate Starting to build my kit from your Advice. love oex gear (iam 62 mate). It's my time now. just starting wildcamping With the sons thanks Old dave.
Brilliant video mate. I,m a DD man tbh started with a 3x3 camo tarp then got a frontline hammock was so happy with the build and price I then got the underblanket now looking at a jura 2 sleeping bag. I think it's a case of if you trust the kit you get more front that company. As you do with OEX 😉 again brill video bud
Have you thought of adding an extra cord locks on each end of the mosquito net? If one on each end almost holds, surely two on each end should hold. Just a thought mate.
My one absolutely failed on me tore at the stitches at one end and torn straight in half and i was just laying in it nothing out of the ordinary no damage on the hammock and its new and im no where near the weight limit devastated
Personally names mean nowt to me, my question is does it do job? Yes? Winner, chicken dinner, I'm on it. Big question then is it worth the price, cheap and crap or is it sorted?
@@englishwoodsman no not yet, possibly wait for the sales, I want the tarp and hammock, not tried a hammock yet, something for the new year, found some woods close by to me similar to Hainsworth.

Great vid pal. If this had a double layer for a pad I’d get this but I’ll stick with my frontline for now.
Hi mate the second generation oex hammock with be double layered,,

I’d love to see another quick review on this Dan if you can after some years of use. I’m thinking of getting one myself. Cheers
Quick question regarding this hammock. Will the original OEX tarp (the black one) work with it? The hammock looks a bit long for the tarp.
Picked mine up today, looking forward to testing it

Seems decent and a midge net is essential in the UK.
Hi mate its a great hammock just one issue is the adjustable cord at the top of the hammock i cant see it lasting

Hi mate it's a good hammock but it's £50
I like it a lot, but, is it enough to make me posted part with some cash when I've already got a DD?
I love a good set at well sir. Guess it’s a bit of an ocd but sets normal compliment each other. And match colour 😃
Have they stopped making the jungle hammocks? The type with a roof to keep the rain off without lugging along a tarp
Hi mate i dont know this is oex's only hammock ,, the jungle hammock is from snugpak
Is there a OEX under blanket that goes with this system, like you I prefer to buy the same range.
No underblanket Simon. Do you have this hammock yet
@@englishwoodsman no not yet, possibly wait for the sales, I want the tarp and hammock, not tried a hammock yet, something for the new year, found some woods close by to me similar to Hainsworth.

I was told by a store employee that they didn't think the oex tarp was actually big enough for the hammock
Hi mate i have been told this as well
I will test the tarp and hammock tomorrow to see if its right
@@englishwoodsman look forward to the video. Think I'll stick with my mansion, the dd 4x4
Yes a little bit of improvement to be done on this straightaway
Hi mate improvements on the hammock???
Yes mate those clips on the tensioner they be changed out or are they part of the hammock
@@leslierhodes5467 yes mate thay are part of the hammock
So not an easy part to change unless the change has taken part at the factory
I like the same things
