$500 per night for the room? Not worth it. $500 per night for that easy access to Victoria Falls? Completely worth it! Incredible
No that’s a no competition price. You can offer that level of comfort in that part of the world for a fraction of 500 USD
He was ripped off. That room would be $40 in Namibia and Zimbabwe
@@Accuface2000 He’s not a fool; many considerations…
@Marco-w2l - I am familiar with the tourist industry, research and marketing. That room looks cheap, 2 stars at best. Look at the best 4/5 star hotels with views/seafronts in Asia, they are nowhere near $500. The ceiling is around $180 in most cases. You can travel the world but still be a fool. He should read more rather than travel. It would have saved him $400.
@@Accuface2000 a seafront view in Asia is NOT the same thing as Victoria falls…. That isn’t even a comparison in any way
I actually gasped at that wide shot of Victoria Falls. Noel, this is why I love your channel-you take us along on the kind of journeys I could only dream of doing. ❤
It's a very nice view of the Falls.
Having just watched The Grand Tour’s One for The Road special, its awesome to see Zimbabwe again!
I just thought the same - I believe that was also the bridge that they crossed in their cars on the train tracks! Africa is such a breathtaking wilderness
Fab video Noel . Amazing to see the Victoria falls.
I was searching for this reply! 😊
The timing of this and The Grand Tour, immaculate. Such a gorgeous country and two of my favorite avenues of entertainment.
The two taxi drivers were very helpful in getting through the immigration process at the border.
Most of the drivers in southern Africa are great like that. They know all the in's and outs and I've never met one that was even remotely shady (I'm sure they exist, I've just never seen one)
VIP service - your reputation precedes you, Mr Philips! @@MoonbeameSmith
@@allanadsett305 helpful, great, corrupt. It’s a thin line
@@jancovanderwesthuizen8070 Sadly, that's the culture over there.
That being said, if said culture can bring some safety / stability then to some people it can be preferable to bureaucratic formality.
@@Fay7666 it isn’t the culture lol
It’s crime and the fact it has become engrained into society is a testament to the decay that has happened over the last couple decades
Victoria Falls down a short path from the Hotel?! That explains the $500 cost, lol.
I paid $40, but it was 32 years ago
It's a rip off. You can get a 4 star hotel with ocean view for $60 in Asia. $500 is out of the norm. He paid $500 for substandard facilities, not smart.
@@Accuface2000You can get an ocean view hotel literally anywhere on the water, Victoria Falls is a one of a kind natural wonder.
This video felt more like a real vacation than your usual. It all seemed very nice places to me. The people and places cleaner and nicer than other African places. Very nice. It is always funny to hear about how different places do things with rules and things.
Glad you enjoyed it!
They may not be ‘cleaner’ according to you but what I’ve learned is that Africans are the most hospitable people anywhere.
What African country have you been to come to that conclusion smart mouth?
Yea these are more fun. Do more vacation videos
@@omahabred9466yeah you get them don't you. That one....... 🙄
Loved the way the Captain of that plane hailed you and said he watched your videos and was a fan.
Noel has fans all over the bloody world, which ever-impresses me.
He is so much more then a taxi driver. He helped you with all exit and entry formalitets too!
Wow, been waiting for this one. Thank you for visiting Zambia🇿🇲 my country
Hope you enjoyed it!
When are you coming to Ghana
Bro's Africa tour so far:
Running away from a flight
Stranded in an empty airport lounge
President taking plane
And a free monkey!
Sooo… Is that usual for an African tour? 😜
@@davidroddini1512 Im not sure since I ve never been to Africa, I was mostly joking about how hilarious the video titles are for the past 3 videos.
@@lordcorgi6481 The monkey was actually $100. 😄 9:22
Monkey cost extra $100 with room
Wow! What an incredible trip! I love the fact it is still mainly aviation based but also shows all the taxi trips, hotels and attractions a little bit too. This are travel trip videos at their best in my view! Many thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
It is exactly 31 years today since I visited Victoria falls as a 20 year old man on my first overseas trip. I will never forget that magical place. Thanks for the memory Noel.
And when I arrived in Zimbabwe in 1993 Noel, on a 747/400 via a new Qantas route at the time, the customs area at Harare was a corrugated iron shed !
Things I did not expect to see in this video
1. A GT3 RS at a hotel in the heart of Africa
2. A handful of other brightly colored Porsches behind said GT3 RS
They have South African number plates. I wonder how they got so far without losing tyres.
Same...😂😂😍
all the people are so friendly and happy to see you when you arrive. great video as usual! ❤
“A bag of chips” Noel stop with these Americanisms and remember your roots 😂 - great video as usual.
I agree
The bag even said crisps 😂
@@louisebrown2054Yeah, exactly. 🙂👍
I would imagine he’s catering to his majority audience
Crisps? What kind of silly nonsense is that?
African people are so kind and nice. Some of the best people I've ever met.
Yes I’ve met a few people from Africa in the USA and they are all very happy to be here
Africa is a giant continent. You cannot paint them with a broad brush like that.
The Victoria Falls located just behind your hotel is the reason your hotel rooms costs $500 per night. Those Falls are magnificent!
$500 is still a rip off
There is a pool in the middle of Victoria Falls (Just on the Zambian side of the border) called The Devil's Pool where you can swim right up to the top edge of the falls and sit with a small submerged rock wall the only thing separating you from the drop.
I just looked it up. Fun fact the Devils pool is on the Zimbabwean side of the border but it can only be accessed via the Zambian side.
Yesss... I've watched many people swim there. I'll just watch, but the area is just stunning! 💜
Incredible how warm and kind all the people in today's video are!
That's Africa. I could tell you so many tales of friendship, warmth and generosoty from Africa. If only people knew.
That's Zambians and Zimbabweans.
O M G --- You have the best job of all time --- Making these travel videos with your comments must be a blast.
Keep sharing these awesome productions.
New channel member here! Your channel has been my ticket around the world for the last few years while I was working on my PhD and was too overwhelmed to travel. I grew up with my Dad working for an airline and I did lots of world traveling, but the last few years I've gone barely anywhere. Those stress - relieving videos are now idea - generating videos, and I can't wait to see more of this beautiful world again now that I have the job and the degree :)
That is awesome!
Love to see you actually exploring too, not just hotel and flight hopping!
"CHIPS"...."CHIPS" ! You'll be wearing chaps and a stetson next 🤣
It even said Crisps on the bag!
Thank you! I was thinking the exact same. Cmon 😂 it's a bag of crisp!
Pretty sure no one is confused as to whether he’s British or American. 😂
I was appalled by that
Especially since he said he was British.
When I stayed at Victoria Falls Hotel in the 1990s, I sat on the verandah at a table next to Bobby Moore, England's 1966 World Cup-winning captain.
Nice one ❤
Great stuff! Bonus monkey out the window too! When you were talking about the E145 getting to Africa from Mexico, maybe ask Steve if you can join him and Bob on one of their ferry flights?
Very glad you got to take a ride in the Trike (microlight), and you could not ask for a cooler place to do it! Personally I fly all sorts of things, from hang gliders to helicopters to fixed wing, but the weight shift trike is one of my favorites, and you might be surprised, IMO one of the safest aircraft you can fly in. I have seen Victoria Falls only online, but your experience you shared is the BEST!
That Embraer is a VERY clean aircraft, and those cab drivers were top notch and super helpful.
Noel, your love of flying is contagious. I'm normally a nervous flyer (to put it mildly) but to watch your face light up as you get on all of these planes actually makes me look forward to the flights I'm taking next week. Thank you for putting my mind at ease!
Glad I could help, have a wonderful time!
The Bridge that crosses the Zambezi was built by Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Company, based in Darlington UK
Did you watch the grand tour as well? 😂😂
@@craigberesford726 i did but I also already knew it as I live near darlington.
Those falls are beyond description! A herd of elephants! Oh my!! Stunning experience for you to remember. Thank you. For sharing.
While I know Air Zimbabwe was your goal of the video, I am glad someone finally flew Proflight.
Noel that video of the Victoria Falls was amazing. I've never seen it in video before. But then you topped it with that super light flight. Real Wright Brothers stuff, you'd never get me up in one of those things. I used to have to help fix windmills back on the farm and that was too high for me! 😖
Glad you enjoyed it!
You could kind of hear your nervousness as you were in “no man’s” land but everyone was so kind. Absolutely spectacular location.
Hi Noel, what a great experience in Africa. I loved the micro plane flight, what a view of the beautiful Victoria Falls. You’ve always got great content, thanks ❤❤❤for sharing
Victoria Falls alone is worth a trip to the Zambesi. Noel does a good job filming the Falls, but nobody can do do it justice on video.
Victoria Falls is no joke - makes Niagara look like a garden hose
22:15 The way Noel just left Kenney hanging. Criminal! 🤣
I'm not the envious type, but a trike flight over Victoria Falls had me just a tad jelly.
Victoria Falls is absolutely BREATHTAKING! It will be added to me bucket list for sure!! And, South African people seem so kind and hospitable.
It was!
Zambians not South Africans
There is a difference between southern africa and south africa, south africa is part of southern africa countries and there is quite a number of countries that make up that Region and they incude South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia etc
Thats crazy expensive man, you could have gone to stay at Palm river hotel, ilala lodge hotel, shear water explorers village and so many more high end hotels in the victoria falls on the zimbabwean side for half the price and higher quality luxury furnishings and service. Stayed at these three hotels and the experience was out of this world, i also stayed where you are currently in livingstone as well as the protea hotel again in livingstone which was ok and service was good but i really enjoyed my stay in victoria falls town more, if i were to choose the best hotel amoungst all the hotels i stayed in while on vacation there, it will be a tie between palm river hotel and ilala lodge hotel for sure.
I just happen to be planning an Africa trip for next year and this is getting me so god damn pumped
Glad to see you were able to get out of the loo on that Embraer, Noel. And it was extremely professional of you not to mention that the guy who was stuck in there was Josh Cahill. 😆
😂
I love land borders between neighbouring countries. It always seems more relaxed the way one person hands off to another. Lets you know you have arrived somewhere new. Great view over Victoria Falls from the ultra light.

Another 5 ⭐ video Noel! Give us more more more! Thanks for taking us along! ❤️🙏🏻👋🏼
Thanks again for taking us on an interesting adventure with you. My best wishes for yourself & family. Happy travels-
The taxi drivers are awesome. More like tour guides. Top blokes.
Bag of CRISPS! Don't turn into a yank Noel! 😂
If he did they would be chips.
Wow, where the first Top Gear special started and where the Grand Tour just had their final special on Sep 13th. timely debut for this video!
No better way to spend a Sunday evening than having your feet up watching a Noel Phillips banger 🤌🏽🔥
Really enjoyed that! Like a holiday video bookended with trip reports! I sell both those hotels as part of my job but haven't been to LVI/VFA yet, it was really useful to see them here as wel as how the border crossing etc works.
Micro light is cool . Respect for Bin men , was my vac job for 2 years while at school , no fancy uniforms back then :-)
Hi Noel,
Fantastic video. I love how all the countries residents are so kind and nice, unlike some places here in the US.
The waterfall is amazing so beautiful and powerful.❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice to see the Zambian Air Force Migs in the background at 2:14.
May one day world military becomes obsolete, Ase!
I grew up in Zambia. We had a wonderful life there in the 60s and 70s. It was wonderful to see Lusaka Airport, Livingstone, Vic Falls, Harare Airport which still looks the same. Thanks for sharing.
Your videos keep getting better! My favorite aviation Vlogger for sure!
Glad you like them!
As always, you were your usual gracious self. Those waterfalls were also stunning. I also live in a town called Livingston (in Scotland). I reckon you should do a few of the Scottish Isle flights to the likes of Barra, Shetland and Fair Island. And maybe some of the dog friendly flights in the US with your beautiful Lurcher. Many thanks for this upload.
"Welcome to my home continent! Greetings from South Africa."
I walked the bridge last November and visited the same hotel, there were lots of zebras roaming freely on the side of the falls. My flight was Addis Ababa - Victoria Falls on an Ethiopian Boeing 777-200/LR.
Stayed in the Victoria Falls Hotel in 1975…lovely memories…went there again in 2022…sad to see the deterioration of the country…but still a beautiful hotel with amazing childhood memories….nearly drowned in the pool in ‘75, 😂
Noel this is one of your most beautifully shot videos to date. The insanity you put yourself thru for our entertainment is much appreciated!
Awesome as always, really loved the Victoria Falls surprise!
Lovely to see you have fans all over!
That little jet may 25 years old, but I didn't see any window blowing out.
One of your best videos.
But they're all good, even if I never understand all you say, but enough to like and subscribe.
Thank you for visiting my wonderful country Zambia.... It would have been great to bump into you.
Just watched this absolutely amazing piece of work by Noel.
For us here in Dublin it has to go down as our favourite ever by Noel.
Brilliant!
A still in service 737-200 is amazing. Shouldn't be embarrassed about that at all!
Thank you very much for these really great impressions of the Victoria Falls. I was reminded of my time at university as a student - a very long time ago - when we visited Livingstone and Victoria Falls, great memories were brought back. However, there were no such crazy prices for accommodation back then, not even in the simple lodges.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Victoria Falls is amazing. Thanks!
I am glad Noel visited my not known but a jewel of a country Zambia. Hope you enjoyed it
Really enjoying your African videos. The insight into the people in other parts of the world has been a very interesting . BTW I just about spit my coffee when you said bag of chips😂.Safe travels!
I'm missing the joke about bag chips 😢. Sorry I'm not British so bear with me
Very cool Bamba Tram there! 26:58 -we went on it when we were in Victoria Falls and it was fantastic
Awesome video as always!
I love these more vacation oriented videos!
$500 is wild 😂 You could have booked a flight to Johannesburg, slept the night in one of the airport hotels, and then flown back, and you'd still have some money left 🤣
What a great video. Took me back to my trip to Zim in 98. Vic falls is breathtaking and of course had afternoon tea at the hotel, with all the wildlife. Done overnight sleeper trains there too.
Really glade I upgraded 🎉 thanks for all the smiles mate.
Thank you for the support!

Thank you Noel for the bringing back the happy memories of our visit to Victoria Falls in 2012 during our Aerial Tour of southern Africa. You are lucky your taxi could drive you across. Other wise it is at least a 1 km walk.... Great vid Noel, well done.
"My brother in Zimbabwe" Very nice people 🙂
Wow! Thoroughly entertaining and so well edited! Very slick and totally immersive. Not somewhere I can see myself traveling but after this video maybe I just might! Thanks again all the best to Rach and the kids...and your brother Kenny hahaha
I still remember as a kid seeing Air Zimbabwe’s 707s at Gatwick in the 1980s. it’s sad to see that the airline has never been able to progress, and has in fact regressed.
Have flown on those Air Zimbabwe 707s a few time to Gatwick as a kid in the 1980s too. Back then hated the 10 hour flights because it felt like forever with nothing to do as kid. Now, I'm absolutely grateful I had the opportunity to fly on them and visit the cockpit too. Was obsessed with airliners ever since 😁.
@@taridean I agree. My first flight was on a TWA 707, and my second on a Pan Am 707. I also got to fly on American Airlines 707s and Air Malta 720Bs.
🙄🙄
Jesus. The country has been sanctions for 2e years what do you want us to do. European nations have lost their carriers it's mystery Air Zim even still exists
Fly be, Thomas Cook
@@southernafricanboy4148 the OP expressed sadness, not celebrating that things haven't turned out great for Air Zim. It is indeed sad to see the state of the airline now compared to what it was even for us who were fans of it. Yes, sanctions have played a part in the decline, but so were some bad decisions made over the years due to mismanagement of the airline such as the fiasco with the Fokker 50s. They ordered aircraft that struggled to operate at capacity from the 'hot and high' elevation airports in Zim which was a PR disaster. Lets hope the next generation can help get the airline back to its better days or even join the league of the like of Ethiopian and Kenya Airways.
@@taridean Thank you. You understood my post and my sadness.
The people seem so friendly and helpful. Great video Noel.

WoW WoW WoW Noel, always taking us with you to amazing new places & adventures where many of us may not get to visit
Noel goes to see some random waterfall and finds Victoria Falls! Somehow I'm guessing it wasn't the monkey that was the reason for the expensive hotel room. 🤣🤣🤣
A wonderful shot of Victoria falls, so beautiful. Thank you for another wonderful review 😊
Now that you are an American, you can no longer say dust bin man anymore😂
Another great trip report as always, taking us to places we wouldn't normally see. I'm a bit worried you're suffering from an identity crisis though - they're crisps not chips! At least you remembered they're cobs though. You can take the boy out of Mansfield but you can't take Mansfield out of the boy! Keep up the good work!
Bag of chips? Thought you were English Noel? Crisps not chips
Love when you visit foreign countries.the thank you/ok comments are off the scale 👍🏼😄
A packet of crisps, not a bag of chips! 😅
Yes a packet of crisps is what they were, chips in British are like thicker French fries. Learn your food kid.

No it’s chips lol

The new Keith Harris and Cuddles.
Brilliant journey that
I've only seen Livingstone from the air, but from your video it looks so much like Maun and Kasane in Botswana.
Where are you from? Im british, saying chips about crisps!!!!! NOEL. Shame on you.😁😉
Mosi-oa-Tunya! It’s so beautiful! This time of year I believe they still have the Angel’s Pool open - you get to get in and feel the falls flowing past you (hold on to the rope and don’t step anywhere you’re not told to, haha!). Devil’s Pool is the more well known one where you swim to the edge.
I also flew over the falls during my stay in Livingstone…but that was to jump out and feel like the tiniest bird over the massive falls. The skydiving place is in Zimbabwe, and I signed on the wall of the building along with everyone else who’s gone skydiving. I’m glad to see you enjoying the heart of Africa!
(I recommend Jollyboys hostel if you go back and if they made it to post-covid. I know that’s not the same as a hotel room, but it’s a great place for a cold Amarula or two, a dip in the pool, and to chat with locals and travelers.
It's far from chips you were raised, they're CRISPS! 🙂
Absolutely love your positive energy, Noel! It’s so refreshing to see someone embrace the beauty and charm of Africa, even when things move at a different pace. Your genuine appreciation for the people, especially your taxi drivers, shows how deeply you connect with the local culture. I wish more RUclipsrs would follow your positivity. Can't wait for your next video ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for your kind words.

African hospitality is incredible. Would love to visit any of these numerous beautiful countries one day
I love flying on the Rex Saab 340s in Australia, especially in turbulant weather.
I used to be a nervous flyer who hated any bumps but Rex cured that - if I'm still in my seat it's mild turbulence now 😂
