- It takes some balls to keep driving this car the way it's all over the track. I also wouldn't want to be the guy next to him.
This Supra was fast, but it gave you anxiety every time it made a pass.

some supra's were so fast they took flight and were never seen again, that's why they are so rare nowadays lol
Lmao
Good one lol
The legendary Suprairs?
@@heinz43 Suprairsline
Ikr like I’ve literally ever seen like 1 just driving around so like a second
That last car he went up against was a beast.. 8.50 @ 175.23mph, Damn..
Remember, that entire time of all the races he couldn't control the supra. If he had mord PSI and good handling, that thing would be literal death. Hell, it would possibly be able to make it less than 9 seconds possibly
A 240sx too, like why
@@jonathandoe69 was that a supra? Looked like a MK3 gen supra. Probably swapped out the 1jz with a 2JZ
And years later we have 3000HP R35s hitting 222MPH or 6.7 seconds in the quarter
Nissan 240 just killed it with ease
everybody who keeps saying that it's all about the suspension work is correct. However, the reason this car has such a soft suspension, is to allow it to squat as it takes off the line increasing off the line acceleration, to cut down the 60 foot time. the same reason that they let air out of the tires to allow for more traction and more sidewall flex. Because as it flexes it bleeds off some of that energy and allows for the contact patch of the tire just a planted at all times. if the suspension was super stiff, at launch all of the energy would be on the tires and there's no way he'd get traction on those small slicks
It was launching very hard, especially for RWD. Hooking up extremely well.
Boosted speed demon is right ..it needs better tires..they was too skinny for its power to weigh ratio it had and he's right about the suspension too..
Aside from the unbalanced ass set up this dude is a hell of a driver.
+Sam Johnson Ayyy lmao you damn right. Anyone who has driven a high HP car with shit traction knows it's one HELL of a handful. That guy is working HARD the whole way down the track. Lol
This guy doesn't even let go of the gas for a second good driver
PEPOLE CAN AFFORD A $1000 CAMERA BUT CANT AFFORD A FUCKING $50 TRIPOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shit suspension, get that thing off the track
That's not a track
definetely needs stiffer springs.
Yeh but then it becomes a stiff ass street ride ,unless you change out the springs to race ,but not worth it if its a daily driver it could use a four link setup
+Dane m get adjustable coil overs which you can adjust ride hight and dampening of the springs so you can adjust it for street driving and make it ride like a caddy and at the track make it handle like a ferrari F1 car
U need a stiff one
The soft springs let it get more grip off the launch
Tires are probably little tall as well.
240SX putting down an 8.XX isnt something you see everyday. Kudos to that guy. He didnt even look like an amateur getting it there either.
Time to get an auto.. unloading that suspension between gears is causing a lot of problems.. Impressive car!
Walker would be proud
Stfu no he wouldn't..that car is set up like shit
This car just rolled at the Tennessee invitational last week, luckly the driver "Steve Tarberg", walked away.
Good diff, suspension and chassis stiffening go a long way when u are running 9s.
I would think the only way to run a car with this much power would be to put a spool in the rear. Diff clutches would fly apart, no?
modbnet plus make sure the rollout is the same for both slicks.
That 240 at the end just stole the show ith ease, didn't even break traction.
Good job, you made a statement in one comment. You're getting better at this.
he needs wide slicks and stiffer suspension so it doesn't swerve so much... BECAUSE JESUS CHRIST HE'S GONNA CRASH THAT THING!
lol ikr I worrie a lot about that car 😂
blu jewel worry*
What do you know about milking ducks?
Moto Machine I don’t cuz he actually knows how to drive that thing
@@petermerkin6428 i know enough not to. 🐄🦆🤷♂️
Looks like a bad rear diff setup. I would put a lower weight fluid in that diff.
sounds amazing
This is tha best car video on youtube
Im assuming he is meeting tire requirements for whatever class he runs....sick car...no fear in the driver...props
reason its uncontrollable, its a stick, which means one hand on the wheel. if only there was a way to drop a twin clutch in there it'd fix that uncontrollability, but it may not be as fast, but it may be faster. idk, it just amazes me how fast you can make a supra go.
yeah look how longive been on youtube, we've all been young once :) dick
SUPERTIGERG3 you dont know what youre talking about. the cars lightweight, over 1000hp, controlling the car is going to be hard, auto or stick. that doesnt even matter when it comes to controlling the car. and the suspension is okay, keeping it too stiff in the rear will cause it to spin more. and tires are wheels are fine. hes on drag slicks on the rear and skinnies on the front, like every drag car.
its not the fact that its even a stick, pletty of stick cars leave great, its the fact that the rear end has to much rebound and every time he leaves or shifts the rear end plants then bounces right back up and it hazes the tires making it skate
so what you just said, contradicted your first statement. the reason the end plants is because of the engine power on the wheels, and then shifts, it moves too. if it were a automatic or even a dual clutch it wouldn't move its drive straight. if you knew anything on how transmissions, and their clutches work, than you would know that it is the fact its a stick that causes the mass movement on the drag strip.
id like to see it go with a 12 slick maybe a taller tire, they look like 10.5s and the only real issue I see is hes spinning.. blaming it on being standard is weak sauce
engine might as well be called the 2jiz-z the sound will make you jizz twice
lmfao good one buddy
Needs some suspension-adjustment in my humble opinion.
I loved watching 1:40 or whatever and on, when the "star" the black Supra runs on the gray one with the 'chute... I'm not knocking the black one at all, they are both stupid fast; but watch how planted and stable the gray one looks, that's what the black one should be doing. What does it need? A lot of everything many people have posted before me, lol. Also, those 9-9.5" or so looking tires would be the first to go!
People hating on the car and the driver... It's a car that runs bottom 9s while still being a 6spd, it has a plate so it's clearly street legal (I'm assuming the car was meant for highway rolls and he wanted to test it at the track) and the driver clearly has some size 12 balls for not lifting down that track haha
I will never understand the obsession with Supras... They're beautiful and all, but they just cannot put power down to save a life. A 1000+hp Supra and a 750hp Cobra both run 9's.
the guy wasn't hooking and spinning tiers all the way down the track. if he hooked then he be faster then a 750hp cobra.
If this, if that. The point is, they don't.
Danial Radcliffe IF HE WAS doesnt count for anything, its just an excuse.
It depends on the car. There are a lot of 750 hp mustangs that can't put down the power at all.
Personally I love Supras. I can understand those who don't. To me the biggest appeal is the 2JZ engine in it. You can make huge power without really too much work. the bottom end of the block can take a shit ton of boost too. Single turbo, new manifold, injectors, ignition, ect. you can make 500-800hp roughly.
fast but he needs his rear suspension either upgraded or severely dialed in lol
those front tires look a bit pathetic. like my fiat panda tires :v
+Marcelo F rwd....less drag the better
Winjury i know, but they still look like my old fiat panda tires :p
+Marcelo F k
I think I just shed a tear of joy. 😨😨
I'm about 95% positive this is my old neighbor. If it is, this Supra is putting down roughly 1300hp at the rear wheels on something like 35-40lbs of boost. The crazy bastard used to drive it to the grocery store.
uncontrollable because the set up is shit
+Jack Mehoff yeah the set up is WAY OFF watch SW's supra go 7's DEAD STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW obviously this one was set up by a gerbil.
My guess the driver jerks the steering wheel every time he shifts a gear
Yeah exactly, it's pretty difficult especially when trying to shift hard. I would probably put a Le Mans style rear spoiler (the one that looks like it's splitting the car in half) in order to help it stay straight at really high speeds.
I'm not sure if that's the case or not. From the looks of it, He's just counter steering. To me the car looks to be making 1400hp maybe with spray off the line. If that's the case all the driving in the world isn't going to hold the car straight. I've been in a car making somewhere around that. I promise you that driver has the biggest balls in the world. The first time it would have got Squirrley.. Most ppl let off and play with it to the finish line.
Chris Hatcher I don't know, I've seen cars go straighter with the front wheels in the air. If you put the time and money into it, you can get that car to hook up and go straight.
Now that I think about it your right. Because that guys car I was in put basically straight marks down on the road. It doesn't do what this guys going. I've looking on the net trying to find information on the car. But I'm pulling up nothing. It seems like the car is to dangerous to be driving it like that in the track.
If I could find information on car it'll be great. When I showed someone the video they did Say.. Looks like a driver error.
Everyone on the internet thinks they are the best driver. Truth you prob would crash this car if you tried to race it
driver mod.
Look how much his rear struts love him :) Happy struts
I agree. And I'd like to know more about the rear suspension because there's a lot more time to be found in that launch.
the roar of that supra is incredible!
Crazy crazy stuff... That car is stupid fast. He's running 7's easy. He's just messing around with that beast. I can't even dream of how hard that thing is to control.
Not defending the guy, but he's talking about tuning the suspension. Like adjusting the dampers perhaps higher rate springs and shocks. He is correct. And you must not have read his full post cause its mentioned damping at the end.
That Supra got to be the dancing edition
The reason what he drifts left and right like that is because the rear isn't stiff enough.. he needs to weld the controls straight to the frame of the car and prolly weld in a couple more support beams to stiffen it up a little more. That way when he smashes on it, and shifts the weight transfer from front to rear doesn't knock the car sideways.
Oh my god that sound is bringing tears to my eyes!
your explanation made complete sense to me.
Does not need tuning. The tune is perfectly fine. It's all over the place cause the track was prepped bad that day. Even all the evos racing that day were sliding and hopping all over the place
Exactly that's all she needs wider wheels, better rubber, and bigger pre stage burnout! Still i love his driving well done bud! Wicked Supra mate!
He knows how to handle that devil well, love it more video of it plz with better suspension or bigger drag radials maybe?
For 1 I'm sure he knows he suspension, diff, et etc needs some attention. Is it dangerous? Sure it is but its just as dangerous dragging with anyone else down the strip. Give the guy some credit for man handling that beast down the track. Any other driver would have got out of it. This guy has some balls and its obvious he can drive the shit out of it.
No its 2step, its a pre set rev limiter so you can launch a car with boost. Anti-lag is actually a system where there is an extra spark plug igniting unburnt fuel before the exhaust inlet on the turbo to keep it rotating during shifts in a race.
The gray Supra he races at 1:37 seems to have its chassis dialed in way better.
Thank you for being able to explain this feeling.
This car needs beefier suspension, wider slicks, and a locking differential or preferably a spool. Biggest issue at the start is the tendency to slam the rear to the ground. Down the track, the lack of traction is whats causing the sloppiness. Just adding traction alone would drop the E.T. by a decent margin. You can actually see the burnt rubber all the way to the line. Beefing the suspension on top of the added traction would make this thing a cannon out of the hole.
Wider back tires stiffer shocks and anti roll bars it will help it from hoping side to side and a short throw shifter or something to make it to where dudes hands are in wheel at all time
I can not believe that I can sit 4 people in my Supra '97/'98. or drop the back seats and carry a drum set. with 53 K miles all stock, dual turbo I can smoke a Boxer 2012 without breaking a sweat. Cars that have bitten the dust by everyday Supra: Lotus Elite, Boxer, several early 2000 Porches, Nissan Z. Got a neighbor with a Ferrari, a Murcielago, and a Porsche 996 and every time (which happens a lot) and we meet at an intersection he screams If you sell it I WANT IT! GREAT INVESTMENT! :)
This car defines the term "Screaming down the track" Fucking crazy
i'd have to agree with you as well. It also seemed as though his suspension was too soft for drag racing judging by how much bouncing the car did at each shift until 4th gear.
oh yeah its called the launch control.any turbo car can have it.it builds boost before launching thats why you hear that popping sound.search more to find out.launch control or 2 step rev limiter.
The sound is beautiful
@Nbx33 idk how to send private msgs, sorry, but the answer to your question is they are a totally different machine, see the length of them for 1, that's why they are built that way very long wheelbase for alot of hp, 2 they are straight drag vehicles, 3 they run the widest slicks available and 4th man, because if a top fuel dragster breaks traction for a split second they back off and the run is over you know, they do not stay on the gas.
with proper slicks (not those rubber bands he was running), suspension tuning, and a well set up track, that car could run mid 8s at 170+. every single pass, he left a trail of rubber well into third gear. that's scary.
And people are saying he is not getting traction... watch the rear tire marks all down the lane, he is getting plenty of traction, it's just the suspension and rear needs a LOT of work to catch up to handle the power of this car.
Fair play keeping his foot planted swerving about like that, that guy must have some big balls, lol.
He said you shouldn't own one as your first car because of the power it is Capable of not the power it has stock. Your right though a stock supra isn't that great but when you can take a straight six block and mod it to push 1000+ HP that makes it pretty great.
We had a supra locally running similar times. The reason it's all over the track is because exhaust is not symmetrical and is actually pushing the car. If you listen the guy says "God dude, that knocked me back!" Think about the volume of air that turbo is moving. I would think its around a 92mm. I would look into putting an up pipe on the exhaust, just as simple as a v band and a 60 degree bend. If you think my response is bull shit, stand behind a large turbo single exhaust drag car.
some of the better filming i've seen of drag racing. not a lot of goofing around staging just a bunch of launches. h ope i can find some turbo LS stuff as well done
i'm probably parroting what somebody already said, but if you look closely to the video, the car torque steers right after every gear shift. based on how wacky his suspension is behaving, i'd assume something's wrong and is causing those mcdonald's arches he's marking the strip with
I am. Been saving for an fd rx7 for almost a year now. I love american v8s but I also love rotaries.
Thats a real interesting point. Never thought about that, seems unlikely but yeah big turbo like that I could see what your saying.
If you think that is all this guy needs, you're out of your mind. Look at how much the rear squats every launch. He needs better suspension. He needs to learn better control. Anyone can drive a car like this. Look at how wild the car is down the entire track. 1:16 he almost loses control. :27 he crosses the other lane. 1:14 he almost crosses the other lane. 1:48 he almost crosses into the other lane. This guy is extremely lucky he hasn't destroyed his car. He's lucky he hasn't destroyed his car
This video gave me goosebumps...
Props to the driver for keepin this monster in kinda a straight line. Must be scary as hell but fun lol
Back when supras ruled tx2k
I need to see this in real life before I die. that is just fantastic.
damn he was everywhere ! that supra is awesome!
I think he did a fine job. Handle that supra. As commented. Some suspension mods will keep her from hoppin all over
I've retired from racing Super Comp and Comp Eliminator cars but I would love to see more of this type of small engine turbo car in NHRA & IHRA sanctioned classes. The power & potential is there. And the are some interesting possibilities in Comp Elim for some import vs big block V8 races. I'm not being factitious when I say come show of BB Chevy guys some new things.
Dude not once or twice. I mean every freakin time. Great drivers
He's talking about tuning the suspension. He is correct. Some different settings on the rears would help and tuning the damper setting on them would be a step forward. Either way the track looks like shit so tuning the suspension won't solve it completely. Power/Engine tuning isnt the only kind there is. For some reason its the only one people think of.
wtf, this thing have NAPA specials for rear shocks???
That supra has some fucking potential. If the driver can get his shit together and keep her stable and keep his launch tight he could have beat both those last 2.
He needs to invest in some traction control - like heavy trailing links, sway bars, and some real drag tires so he can keep the thing going in a straight line. Sick power is a dangerous thing if you can't control it.
LOL. he just needed new coilovers and tires. the car ran fine this year. he went deep into the 8's @160+ on a 3.0 w/ a 7685.
I was a supra owner but I love my r35 skyline no launch problems 😎
Say what you want, i say supra is the king here!
Brother, he isn't my supra buddy, i drive rotarys mate, and i'm from Sydney, and our drag strip is a very close drive from my place, i'm just trying to give these little kids some informed information on the subject that they brought up, of course it could do with suspension upgrades, but that isn't the be all or end all of what we see here in this Video. No worries!
i suggest to bring the front wheels more to the center.. see Titan motorsports with their front wheels.. they got a nice smooth steering setup on their car.. your car has the power! now it needs more controlability :D NICE WORK!
i own an rx7, its probably a nissan 240sx, as they are similar in appearance. you can tell by quickly pausing the video and looking at the rear light style
that :50 sec launch was unreal
well my man sure can drive . . . props
that guys got some serious car control, i'd have been chilling in the barrier xD
Bom trabalho irmão parabéns 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
I love how it still looks stock except for only having one eye which means "don't try take me"
Step 1. Remove power steering
Step 2. Tune to race straight
Step 3. Supra's are awesome!
That is one sick as hell supra but it needs some suspension work big time, but if he can get it to hold a straight line it would be insanely fast.
Paul Walker would be proud if that beauty DIDN'T FUCKING GO EVERY WHERE ELSE BUT IN A STRAIGHT LINE
I have never in my life heard of thought or that. There are a ton of Supras running their exhaust like that that stay straight. Maybe a combo of exhaust and suspension setup?
Last car is a 180sx/240sx. If you pause the video as they fly by, you see the 180sx lights :)
You gotta be damn fast to run a 10.1 at 94 mph.
That means he was going so fuckin fast that he had time to get off it, make a steering correction, slow down, And Still Run A 10.1!!!
The car doesn't have the best setup, but the guy can drive. He's running 8 seconds while all over the track and racing drag cars. It's all good making judgments when you do all your racing on a Xbox, go on a real track and see how easy it is to post those times.
So, solid drag racing guys can probably answer the question: What's wrong with his setup? There's video of him racing right next to another Supra, a 240 and a Viper. None of those cars seem to have even the slightest wiggle, yet this guy's all over the damn place on both lanes. Soft rear suspension? Too-tall on the tire sidewall? Driver who consistently overcorrects? What would cause it?
No Corvetttes were harmed in the making of this video
300+ actually, and its been proven they can handle it time and time again. Its got new suspension and wider tires, and hes running consistent low 8s at 170+
