Evening Martin Another enjoyable video These how to video's on repairing cars are what makes this channel great , I've been a petrol head all my life and its nice to watch you work because you know what you are at and willing to give it a go to sort the problem out . I hope you are getting to grips with the dog as well Cheers Phil
top tip from edd china's channel. If you depress the brake pedal and keep it down, after an initial spurt it will close off fluid passage in the master cylinder and stop brake fluid running out when you have the pipe disconnected.
Surprising to learn the copper washers don't come with the new brake lines. For the prices you have to pay, what would copper washers cost to include them. I guess they need to get every penny out of the customers. Thumbs Up on the video. Seems like easy simple repairs, unless you've never done them before...
👍👍👍 nice easy fix Martin 👍👍 I have used J&R a few times Never had a problem with ther service and goods, recommend them highly 👍👍👍 Great video fella 👍👍👍
A lot of the stuff from motor factors today is junk sadly. Good video Martin if I remember you had the same trouble on the triumph with the brake flexis
I did one on a Hyundai Santafe same thing Martin it had taken a knock made a horrible noise customer came he thought gearbox had gone he was happy it was just the shaft. Good job you noticed that flexy could of ended up not being fun. Good brake bleeding kit that from Sealy my mate has it. Good job Martin 👍
My old Cavalier had that knock when turning, the CV joint had gone. Seem to remember I didn't need to replace the whole shaft on that just the joint itself.
You need to get that EML cleared Martin. Another really informative video. I've bought the same pump for my brakes after seeing you use it before. Its a great bit of kit and not too expensive to buy either.
You are not the only one that finds it difficult to read them torque wrench in the end I had to spray over the numbers with black spray paint then sand lightly over it so the paint stayed in the recesses for the numbers it worked ok but god knows why they don’t do somthing like that in the first place
Brilliant video 👍 is y The signum diesel a better engine than the petrol as I had the 2.2 petrol and the engine blew up was thinking of getting one again
2 tips for anyone doing a brake flexi. Depress the brake pedal slightly and hold it there with a piece of wood etc, this will give you all day if required without fluid constantly leaking out. when undoing a banjo bolt, give it a few sharp cracks with a hammer first, generally the will loosen off without even using a spanner.
I have a vectra 1.9 2008. I took out my driveshat (passenger side) to replace the gaiter as it was ripped. After putting it back in the inner shaft keeps popping out from the gearbox when driving for no more than 6 miles. I centered the retainer clip and even whacked the shaft in and still pops out whilst driving. This happened few times now. I’m about to give up. Any advise appreciated. Thanks.
@@retrorestore clip looks fine, I initially ordered the same brand as in your video. It lasted few days. Then had it replaced and lasted few miles. I decided to put my original one back on and again lasted few miles. The clip looks fine. I did exactly how you have demonstrated in the video but… I don’t know mate this is where I am
Honestly I’m disappointed with mine the cap that goes on the master cylinder always leaks no matter how tight you do it up, I purchased one that connects to the air compressor and uses vacuum to bleed the breaks, great bit of kit and only half the price, need an air compressor though which is the only down side.
@@Cavalier_Steve did you try some PTFE tape on the threaded section on the reservoir. I'd be disappointed if I got a leaky one too as brake fluid is nasty stuff. It can be washed off with plenty of plain water without harming the car!
Did you get your coffee martin..there is more stuff coming to you on Saturday and other item on mon/tuesday, i thought they would all get delivered in one go.
I use that same brake bleeder after seeing you and James from Savage Garage use it. Have you got a wheel bearing issue on this car? There’s a definite whirr on the test drive that’s related to vehicle speed, not engine speed.
@@brianhume4743 I know he took a few breaks for mental health issues. He’s still somewhat active on his Instagram account with signs he’s recording but no responses to if and when he’s releasing videos again.
Thought the same, my corsa was doing tye same noise at about 50mph, thought it was a wheel bearing but turned out to be my n/r tyre had had it, changed the tyre and noise gone
Im the same as you Martin, when you've got to let rip, just go for it... 06:42
Another excellent instructional video Martin. Well done. What would we do without cable ties, best invention ever...

Great video Martin. Just a point. You should renew the copper washers both side of that banjo bolt. Keep up the good work.

There should be a big washer behind the centre nut of shaft, part of old nut
Most informative 🤔

No John lol

Has the spring clip compressed hence not holding it in?

great informative video .....
Sounds like a wheel bearing on the test drive martin
Tyre noise.
Are they not stretch bolts on that hub? I always thought you had to fit new ones
I think GM really lowered the quality of the Vectra C/Signum post facelift. They rust more, the engines are less robust and they've also got less kit.
Hello mate. Would pay off for you to buy a car elevator thing?
Hi martin, where did you get your bleed system from? that would make life a lot easier for me and my dad.
Machine Mart bud
@@retrorestore thanks martin!
That seeley bleeder would be handy, not cheap though.

youll need to get the front alignment done again after taking those 2 bolts out of the upright (@4:21)
