Pink hair, dark shades, leather jacket over shirt and tie... I don't think Layne realised how much of a grunge fashion icon he was
I think he seriously underestimated himself in so many ways. His humility and kindess were awesome qualities, yet led to his downward spiral. He was an incredible human.
No Layne knew the effect he had on people, it’s why he killer himself with drugs. He knew his music was creating addicts
It's sooo fucking sad watching this, it literally only took him 5 years from 91-96 to completely fall apart. Watch ANY live show from AIC in 91' then watch this. Layne become a shell of his beast mode self.

Layne would be 56 this month. '67 to '23. He was one month ahead of me. We both witnessed the best time of existence on this planet.

The harmony between layne and jerry can never be duplicated. My fav band by far, great taste in tunage.

Layne, as a vocalist, was definitely something special.....he was always my favorite singer in that whole genre....even over Chris Cornell (who was a very close second).....

Crazy thing here is that they never needed to feed his vocals ... he just ripped it. amazing to this day. AND THIS IS WHAT WE DONT HAVE TO THIS DAY

Rip layne, loved the frequency in his voice. Powerful vocals for sure. Growing up in the 90’s with Layne and having to listen to Jerry Cantrells voice now just ain’t the same.
Ever heard the band Chout? Check them out if you haven't, the singer was in an AiC cover band but they started doing their own thing.

@@toolboss8410 I like to refer to them as Almost in Chains or Jerry & Friends. It's not terrible, it just lacks any of the charisma and creativity of the Layne-era.

Saw them at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Same stage I saw Cobain Dimebag and Dio. So many great musicians so many gone.

Poor guy. I think he tried to get over the drugs, but it wasn't enough, they just overwhelmed and consumed him. Staley was larger than life.and people like that often do die young, it seems.
