The character of Dillon is such a good person. The young actor has been brilliant.

The parallels with intimate partner violence/domestic violence are really nicely balanced with Dillon's love for Lucas and the unique circumstances of Lucas's situation in these scenes. Misbah's "Stop making excuses" comment and the later line about "being blinded by your love for them" manage to simultaneously send a message that domestic violence is NOT a form of warped love that can somehow be excused or justified, while the scene also manages to establish real sympathy for Lucas. A great balancing act and really good writing from whoever wrote this episode.
I’m glad Dillon could see Lucas needs his help to get over the psychological torture of conversion therapy. I just hope Declan visiting Lucas in the hospital didn’t make things worse.

Let these two find happiness together. After this difficult storyline we need alittle happiness. Allow Lucas to get the therapy he needs and give Dillon and Lucas the time to repair their bond and live and trust each other. That’s how love wins. ❤

I am so relieved that Dillon doesn’t blame Lucas for the way he behaved but instead protects him (bless his heart) from more pain, like he always does. He is by far the best character in Hollyoaks in my opinion, I hope he and Lucas get to be happy and together soon!

I agree that they would make a great couple and I hope they do. I just hope the writers don’t have Dillon take on too much responsibility of helping Lucas get better. They’re both just kids. Lucas needs professional help and while Dillon can be there for him, Lucas’s recovery is Lucas’s responsibility, not Dillon’s.

Oh my OA it’s good to finally see James back on screen hopefully he’ll know about what happened to his Stepson and he’ll also confront Carter about this as well. Dillon is so sweet he really does care about Lucas and I get he blames himself because of this and he just couldn’t see why Lucas was acting this way at first but now he can and he cares I’m so glad he asked his Aunt Misbah not to press charges against Lucas. Hope Misbah will find a way to help Lucas get through therapy and I also hope her Husband Zain will be okay too I really am hoping Misbah and Zain won’t get a divorce either and once Lucas gets therapy he’ll come out of his closet to not only Dillon but also Carter and Decaln. 🥺

I think people should figure out the harm of conversion therapy before condeming on of its victims. Lucas didn't mean to hurt Dillon. He was brainwashed. And I'm glad Dillon realizes that.

Lucas has been punishing himself for months. And the most recent time landed him in the hospital. He needs professional help since Carter messed him up
I'm reminded of the courthouse scene in Emmerdale when Aaron comes out during his trial for a homophobic assault. The judge came him a non-custodial sentence (a community corrections order) in recognition of the fact that he'd committed a crime but that his motivation for the assault on Jackson wasn't driven by hate. Perhaps something similar in this instance would be appropriate?

I feel like Misbah and Ste have the potential to be very useful adults in this scenario: Misbah with her experience being hurt by someone who she loves and who was struggling and having worked through that situation together with that person. And Ste with his experiences being groomed by an extremist group. I think that could result in a good mix of understanding, compassion and guidance. But it is still Hollyoaks and Ste is not the most dependable person at the moment, so we'll have to wait and see to what amount they will actually live up to that potential...
I know that Misbah has good intentions in saying that violence cannot go unpunished, but Lucas doesn't need to go to prison... He needs real help, from people who can make him understand that it's not wrong, that it's a normal person like all the others... who can live happily, without having to find "salvation", in conversion therapy...
Lucas does need some consequences for his actions.... everyone's a victim including DILLON.. not just Lucas
As much as I want Lucas and Dillon together I think Lucas is going to need some serious therapy before starting any kind of relationship, it’s obvious that Dillon really loves him if he’s willing to forgive him time and time again for hurting him

Am I the only one who doesn’t think Lucas and Dillon belong together? I feel for Lucas, I do but Dillon has been his punching bag for too long. Lucas always acted out even before the whole conversation therapy started. You can empathize with a person but you don’t have to be their punching bag to prove your loyal and patient. Lucas needs therapy, real extensive therapy. Perhaps away from his family for a bit because Ste was always the fun parent and missed a lot of what was going on with both of the kids until they were in dire situations. Not blaming him entirely but it would be best for Lucas to get all this sorted out alone. Dillon deserves better. He’s a great guy and he shouldn’t be waiting around like this for Lucas to come to his senses and being emotionally and physically abused in the process. “he didn’t mean to” is often said in DV situations. Not saying Lucas will but if he doesn’t get help or held accountable then he could cause more irreversible harm to Dillon or himself. Dillon has a broken nose, ribs, and a concussion. He can’t protect Lucas. Plus, Dillon doesn’t know the whole story. He only knows about 85% of it. The trauma of coming out, the rest of it is based on his mother’s death. He never had a good example so it’s hard for him to see any positivity from it. Until Lucas actually confronts that and make steps to deal with it, He’ll never be a good partner to anyone.
Lucas just needs professional help. And many people might not realized is that Carter already took what was wrong with Lucas and made it so much worse. He's gone through psycholigical torture. Everytime someone tried to help Lucas, Carter appeared later to make it worse. Just like when Scott tried to help Lucas, Carter found out about it and made Lucas paranoid that Scott would out him. And then Lucas started to self harm. He's a kid and hopefully Ste gets him the help he needs.

Why can no one remember that Lucas attacked Dillion before Carter got his claws into him? I'm not against Lucas just stating a fact.
Lucas does need consequences for his violence but he literally nearly committed suicide so hes punished himself.

What Lucas needs is counseling and support. It really is shocking to see how easily people are handwaving away the horrible effects of conversion therapy and how damaging it is to a person.
Before anyone says anything I'm gay. But if Dillion was a girl there would be uproar. So why does Lucas get off lightly. Just saying.
Dillion needs to tell and bring charges as NO ONE who lies and say they "love you" will abuse you! Lucas needs to leave and get mental help, and HELL NO about them getting back together, just will keep on being abused.
Its 2024, being gay can still be hard but surely with a gay dad he should been able to not be as ashamed and easily groomed, it doesn't seem realistic like it isn't the 2000s or the 90s or before that. I can understand grooming and conversion therapy is horrible situation for someone but to beat someone up that badly, that is never right even when gay was seen as bad, you don't beat someone up for how ashamed you feel.
Think about it tho I’m not making excuses but he’s 15 a child he’s not a grown man, he’s had two men in his head telling him he is a sin it’s not his fault
@@acidnightout9170 I can understand why he would feel ashamed however beating Dylan up was not right and too far. That being said its the writers doing, they could have made him walk off but they make him beat Dylan up and for me Dylans reaction is not realistic and its too lenient, its never okay for someone you love to beat you up.
Misbah is one of the kindest sweetest characters in Hollyoaks. For a Muslim character, she doesn’t discriminate.
