Loved the hand "crossing" passages Ruoshi. Such a beautiful Aria. Very challenging rythmically, so ovrrwhelmingly beautiful harmonically! Executed perfectly.
Aahh... also my favorite aria from the Passion! I was expecting that you would play the left-hand chord as if you try to mimic playing the chord on viola da gamba tho. But still, it's just my expectation, not that you played bad haha! It was beautifully played, Ruoshi!! I'm still waiting for your piano videos!! (you know, in strings instruments, sometimes notes of a chord not really sounded together at the same time due to the curved bridge of the instrument, including gamba.)
I had actually thought of that, not for this piece, but for Bach's Chaconne. A few years ago when I was at the early stages of my transcription, I tried to imitate the way violinists play the chords, but it sounded ungainly on the piano, or at least I couldn't make it convincing. From then on I just stuck with the pianistic arpeggio.
This playlist is such a hidden gem! What an ambitious project, must have felt like a pilgrimage
