Thanks for the lesson! In my opinion this is one of the best KISS riffs ever and a totally underappreciated song! First heard it back in the day as the B-Side of "Hard Luck Woman"-but it was "Mr. Speed" that made me a fan.
RARAN is really a riff-driven album, there are some great song s here... And the cover art is f-g amazing. Pauls greatest strength was his voice but Id say he was a solid rhythm player. Thanks for commenting! 😎🤘
Paul's forte is his voice, but he was never a slouch as a rhythm guitarist. A guitarist friend of mine saw them decades ago, and said he was one of the best rhythm guitarists live he'd ever seen. And think about the amount of motion Paul goes through while doing all that energetic dancing and acrobatic singing -- and not dropping a riff! The circus of KISS distracts from how great the guy really is - as an all-round entertainer, vocalist, guitarist, songwriter and band manager.
@@jondunmore4268 I agree with what you're saying, but I have to add that Ace played both rhythm and lead on stage. It's not that Paul didn't play, but Ace covered him really well when he was moving around a lot, or just holding a microphone and not playing.
Essa música do KISS é simplesmente maravilhosa. Não entendo como não virou um hits nas rádios como as demais músicas da banda. KISS a melhor banda do mundo !!! Brasil !!!
Pretty good! The intro is an old Keith Richard riff as a side note. Also, you missed the little run by Paul Stanley at the bridge during Aces solo. Nice Job !!!
Heard someone play this on guitar. I knew it was KISS. Then it dawned on me ! I was all smiles. But you.....you’re totally spot on. Maybe even better than KISS 💋!
Close, but not quite. Paul holds the shape of the ‘slide riff’ for the third chord/riff of the first progression before resolving on the first chord (E). Same for the second ‘D’ progression. 😊
not sure if you guys gives a damn but if you are stoned like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all the latest movies and series on instaflixxer. Have been watching with my brother these days =)
I’m glad you addressed the tuning issue. I’m betting that when they recorded this it was tuned full half step down but then when mastering it they decided to speed it up slightly which resulted in the tuning issue. What do you think?
No it‘s because back then a lot of music was tuned to 432hz instead of 440hz which is todays standart. Find yourself a tuner where you can change the pitch and it will sound exactly like in the song
@@AMadScientist there‘s an everlasting debate over 432hz or 440hz being better, but they definetly have a pretty different feel. Maybe Kiss experimented with that on purpose
The reason the song is somewhere between standart tuning and halfstep down is because the instruments are tuned to 432hz instead of 440hz. This wasn‘t uncommon in the 60s and 70s
@@paintssinners would be a possibility if it matched 434hz or any other number but if it‘s exactly 432hz I‘m pretty sure it‘s on purpose and doesn‘t come from changing the speed of the tape
@@dustinbonz2709 true, I am but I have to confess its the albums up to the early 80s that gets me going. Wish I could enjoy the later ones or the current setting but its just not my cuppa tea.

Lovely work on a killer and mostly forgotten track. Thanks for posting.
Thank You!! Might be forgotten but not by me! ;)
This is the first Kiss album I ever purchased. I've never been much of a fan of Paul Stanley as a guitarist, but this is definitely his best riff!

Could be so... Some of the songs on RARAN is a full half step down. I was thinking perhaps they played around with speed of the tape.
