My dad got ARK in 2015, and my tiny 13 year old self kept begging him to let me play on his pc :D
together we've got like 3k on his account, and recently I got it myself on my gaming laptop (that can actually run this monster of a game, lol) and now we're playing together again, but this time two survivors!
Damnit Wildcard, you got us good, 8 years later and we're still here

That's nice. My dad played it on a PS4 and the host tethering and the hibernation resource respawn issue really put a damper on his experience. Didn't stop me from racking up the hours on my PC version, though. 😂

I remember wanting to play this game for the longest time as a kid. As the years passed and I finally got my hands on a pc that could run the damn thing, I had so much fun. I then discovered your channel after a break in 2023, and I had your videos blasting in the background as I played Ark. It rekindled my love for the game and your videos are why I like to talk about people about the game's story.

Bless you Neddy. It is strange how Ark found a special audience. I have over 10k hours in the game too and only very recently have come to realise that I am quite sure I share some of the conditions of which you spoke. Only difference is I'm 55 years old lol. Regardless of the future and the difficulties you may have encountered as a consequence of your condition, rest assured that you have, at your age, already achieved something quite significant with your survival stories and associated content. You opened up the game to so many players in a way that no other Ark streamer did. In fact in a way not even the game developers did. I'm not sure they realise what a huge service you did for them. Your stories will still be watched and enjoyed years from now. You aren't mental ill, you're just not 'Neuro-typical'. More power to the freaks man! Love and best wishes from a mad, messed up old git who's lived his whole life wondering what was wrong with him. I take a small comfort in knowing I'm not alone 🤪

I still remember when I saw a post on reddit with your video of Helena's Survival Stories and being thankful that finally someone had started to recreate the explorer notes, until then there were only videos of people reading the notes. Since then I have loved how you have been evolving as a content creator.

Ark all glitches and bugs aside was an excellent game . The island ---> added volcano ----> second expansion scorched earth --> and then Aberration ---> and the final extinction (or so we tought) --> Gen 1 and 2.

Back when ARK first launched I was hyped as heck since I love dinosaurs and I put 100 of hours on it. Thankfully despite my love for the franchise didn’t turn into an addiction and I soon have other dreams I wanted to realize. But regardless, I don’t know how but. Even with all the new things n’ hobbies I’ve done. I still find myself coming back to ark one way or another. Nowadays I just use ark as a motivational source. Like when tackling a hard project I would just think back to my first attempt at taming a giga and say “ah I’ve faced other challenges this is nothing to me”. I’ve been watching your channel since the Helena episode and I gotta admit. I was being watching your explorer notes stories on repeat to the point where I actually got 6.5 on IELTS from simply listening and picking out details from the series. Thank you Ned for helping me get into college.🙏

  • @Gingerbird1975

The way you describe feeling at home in Ark, that's exactly what I experienced too in ASE. And still do now in ASA.
I work long hours in real life because I own and manage a business; that's why I'll never be able to accumulate many in-game hours. But when I get a rare day off, starting the game, hearing the title music, and then hearing the noises of my tames greeting me feels like coming home. It's the place where I find relaxation and can recharge.
So, I can relate, even if I'm twice your age.

  • @lovedove929
    @lovedove929 8 месяцев назад

Your survival stories are what led me to you Ned. I had just come back to Ark and was dabbling with the idea of sticking it out. Then I saw your videos and it fuelled my drive to keep playing and uncover the story myself. So over the course of 2 years me and my wife ploughed into Ark and at the time only GEN 1 had come out. We paused when we hit there but then GEN 2 occurred and we dived straight back in.
This remaster has certainly caused a divide between fans. Me and my wife included. I'm hyped for it. But she sees it for nothing more then a cash grab by wildcard/snail. Regardless. The beauty of Ark is, despite games coming out that are survival filled and have dinos. There isn't anything like Ark. It's just got a formula that has yet to be beat. And it's the one thing that's saved the game I think from vanishing

I really thought I could but severely overestimated my health at the time. It really IS impressive that you have done so much and coordinated so much. Never discredit yourself in that. Im so unmedicated for all of my conditions right now, i could never be so productive. Hopefully will improve soon.

my pvp journey on ark was something i wont forget tbh, i bought the game in 2015 but couldnt really run it and i had no friends back then so i just didnt play it until 2019 when i had a pc to run it reasonably, survived a month solo on official pvp was the first thing i did and even though i got wiped 4 times, i kept trying over and over again until i eventually wasnt being wiped, making fake looking bases that were already raided and hiding my cryo'd dinos in hidden boxes, shit was the stuff back then, plus i just love mana as my pvp mount, fighting guys on other stuff like wyverns etc was fun af. got 5k hrs before i put the game down, my other 5k being put into another game called beasts of bermuda , and 3k put into gmod and the isle, 1.5k put into primal carnage extinction, tried to diversify my hrs since playing 1 game only was bad.

Not worth it for me and It really is just a shame how Wildcard and snail consistently do the wrong thing. Ill keep playing ASE single player for the foreseeable future. AS AN ARK RUclipsR MYSELF tho (Not this YT account) It really is disheartening seeing content trends move away from what I enjoy making. Another amazing video Ned! You've got talent that's taking you places for sure! I've only been involved since Dec 2020 when I came across ARK for the first time, but to have been a part of it since the beginning is awesome. You're making a name for yourself and having a good time with this game. 🙂

I played on and off during the early days untill around 2019, where i got to the point.. no more. Other games came and took my full attention, untill early 2020 i stumbled upon your video's and dediced.. lets go again. Yet to say if that was a good or a bad one, but doing 6000 hours the following good 3 years, i would say.. i was stuck in it again :P From there i settled on a official server where the very first stone foundation i placed was still there the very last day the server shut down. Although i continued into ASA, in a way it feels like a 'it was good, but im ready to move on' progression. Not sure what future of Ark will bring (or their choices, big shoutout for your ASA server thing, you were a huge part in their change of plans) or what my interest will be in the following years. But im happy i watched the journey along your channel growing, the amazing stories (sad helena).

As an older player of games in general, I was turned on to many games by Neebs Gaming due to their fun nature and interesting coomradery. Started Ark, Conan and 7 days all thanks to them, although im a console player. Its only been in the last 2-3 years, I have found so many other creators for all the games. Ark is by far my favorite game of those 3, but have been let done more times than id like, but surely not as many as many like yourself. Appreciate your content, updates, stories, rants and all. Thank you for being you and doing you Neddy. Still waiting for the console save fix as I play ASE in the meantime(still broken as well at times, lol). My best to you and keep on rolling😊

I started playing ark in 2020 after seeing another famous Spanish RUclipsr play it, and because my gamer uncle had it too. I fell in love with the game and he also gave me the expansion packs as a gift. And I have never played them. I have this issue that every time I start a new game with somebody we never even get to the brood mother and stop playing the only friend who had the game later I realized he was a narcissist and now is not my friend. I have never played the game since then, but after watching this I think I’m gonna start again soon. For some reason I never played on public servers (probably because I was very young and was scared of social interaction on the internet) I found you channel in probably 2021 or 2022 and I love what you do. I’ve always liked video games and sci-fi lore, so ark and your channel were the perfect combination. I don’t know if I’ll buy survival ascended after already having ark and all of its expansions, but I’ll have to see about that one later.

A funny thing about steams playtime counter is it counts even if the game isn't actively being played, for steam it records if the exe is active, even if the game is in your back processing and not actually being used, so even if you aren't playing ark but you recently clicked on it, it will still be in your processes even if you close the game.
On Xbox or Playstation if you have over 6-8-10k hours actually meant you had put the time into it, on console it only recorded your playtime if you actually selected to play the game in single player or on a server, not by just sitting on the main menu.
I have a pc friend who only played ark se for 20 mins and didn't like it, but he never turned off his computer for weeks, his play time is over 700 hours just because how games are back processed on steam.

Really enjoyed your story in this video. I was super late to discover Ark as a single mom who works full time and has only really been able to branch out in gaming again now that my kid is in middle school. But I easily became obsessed with ASE a few months before ASA launched and can’t wait to see what is in store for all of the maps. Your comprehensive video on the Ark lore was masterful and really helped me gain a better understanding of the depth of the game. Thanks for all your hard work-it’s truly high quality.

Man. Its been a while that i felt so put on the spot, because I related with way too many aspects of your relationship with this accursed abusive game that we somehow can never abandon. I really respect that you can openly speak about your feelings and difficulties that are part of this experience that you made with ARK. I hope to at least some day finish my own far smaller project that does something similar with my own experience I had playing ARK with my now closest friends, creating the closest thing you can get to a astounding journey in real life. Keep being creative and be that pinnacle of the community that isn´t afraid to stand up whenever Snail games tries to screw us all over again.

I started playing ASE when Scorched Earth released, as of today I am 7,411 hours in and I am still playing it. I'm running an Intel Core i9 14900k 3.20GHz, 128 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 and yet ASA was crashing constantly (I tried every "fix" I found online with no improvement) so I am back on ASE. I'll check out ASA again, but that probably will not be until the Gen 2 DLC gets released. I'll occasionally dabble with other games, but there's no denying I am hooked on Ark. It always irked me when I saw YT'ers spreading bad lore (like Gaius Nerva having a "throne on Scorched Earth that he ruled from" like wtf) so imagine how I felt when I found your channel.

@@IndyJacksonTT Good to hear its not happening to everyone (it gives me hope that I'll eventually be able to play ASA). Even if I turn ALL the setting to low ASA would still crash randomly, I go to ASE run everything on epic and MAYBE get one crash in a session, but that is a rarity.

Pvp i turned of all the visual settings in the config file and typed up some stuff from the old game and added it back in to further lower
settings to get around 120fps and i barely ever crash like once a week or something but i assume with a 4090 you want to play all ultra haha
