I'll be honest, this game is like a manual for these guys, they outline every tactic in great detail, even giving them a spin as being superpowers, to appeal to the sensibilities of the MCU fanboys, and depicting their actions as moral, they do a good job giving easily recognizable traits to the "good" guys and the "bad" guys, like trying to subconsciously reassure the intended audience that these are the traits of good guys and bad guys respectively, it being funded by the government is also pretty unnerving, as hilarious as the end result is

Remember how Final Fantasy VII started with a cool action sequence where you raid a reactor, fight a giant robot scorpion and have to escape with a time limit before everything explodes? That was cool and all, but I think sitting around and rambling in a car, sitting around and rambling in a bunker, and sitting around and rambling in a bus is way, way cooler way to start a game.
It should also be noted that, during that sequence, Cloud is basically working for a radical eco-terrorist group (Avalanche). It’s established that Cloud only (initially) worked with Avalanche because he was hired by them and, especially in Remake Intergrade, he doesn’t seem to actually believe in their cause (his only response to Barret’s rant about the planet being, “Get help”), but it really goes to show that it’s entirely possible for writers to write a gripping story that also has something to say about the real world, it’s just that Dustborn fails MISERABLY at making any sort of point, let alone wrapping it in an entertaining game or story.
I wish Zach didn’t stop himself from talking about history/alternate history, because him talking about history on SleepyCast all those years ago was some of the most entertaining parts to me.

That was cool and all, but I think sitting around and rambling in a car, sitting around and rambling in a bunker, and sitting around and rambling in a bus is way, way cooler way to start a game.

It’s established that Cloud only (initially) worked with Avalanche because he was hired by them and, especially in Remake Intergrade, he doesn’t seem to actually believe in their cause (his only response to Barret’s rant about the planet being, “Get help”), but it really goes to show that it’s entirely possible for writers to write a gripping story that also has something to say about the real world, it’s just that Dustborn fails MISERABLY at making any sort of point, let alone wrapping it in an entertaining game or story.

They specifically think that, if you aren't making a statement against the status quo, you are upholding it. And since they resent the world for bringing them into existence, there is nothing about the status quo which they find value in, so you're EVIL for not rebelling constantly in everything you do.
