TIP: lean backwards a lot. If you miss the bars and ur weight is forward you will fall with ur chest on the bars. If you lean back and miss the bars you will land on ur back or legs (at least you don’t break ur ribs)
@@jcam4071 Yea no coz its a shitty tip and everybody who does barspins will tell you that... You need your body weight to be above your stem to make them bars nice and easy. The real tip is to spin a little bit and do the bar, so when u fail u just gonna land on ur leg and not with ur face on the stem
If you have a slim seat or cannot pinch with your knees you can pinch your cranks by pushing your toes and heel into the crankarms. Another few ways to learn would be to try pull up barspins where you pick the front wheel up and throw the bars. this helps with the motion and timing of the barspin. It also helps to learn X-ups first as it is a similar body position needed to keep your legs out of the way of the bars. When you come to a quarter-pipe or fly out you may find that it is easier to barspin in a rotation. The way I learned them was by pinching my feet on the cranks, flying out of a quarter pipe 90 degrees and spinning the bars. This kept my knees out of the way of the bars and allowed me to focus solely on the barspin motion that I had practised on flat ground. it will take time but as soon as you can barspin you can throw them anywhere, as I said barspins in rotations are actually easier so once you have learned the barspin work your way up to a 180 barspin and progress from there.
These dirt jump how to are super good. Way more detailed than many of the other how to you find on youtube. Would love one on how to dip/nosedive/cork/whatever people call it 360's! Or a supermand... or one footed table... etc etc
Yes! Barspin on enduro bike. I imagine cable setup is a major consideration here. Would you say that the bunny hop barspin is a less risky/scary progression step before catching some air from a qtr pipe or transition?
I used to ride scooters and I was able to do barspins and other tricks super easy, do u think those skills will transfer over to dirt jumping? as I just started. (Been riding mountain bikes for ages though)
Hey blake (great vid (i hav enduro bike :( )) could you please do a crankflip vid (endo-crank-flip, roling-crank-flip, bunny-hop-crank-flip, jump-crank-flip) thanks a lot great vid
Blake In the area where I live I don’t have any jumps, I just have speed bumps. I would like to learn the bar spin while jumping a speed bump, do you think it is a good idea and could you give me some tips on how to get more air. Thanks
So it's time for me to start learning bar spins... Should I first be proficient at no-handers or at least one-handers? Or should I just jump right in? It only makes sense to be comfortable taking your hands off the bars but I've had a few bad crashes on the no-handers.
I have a stump jumper it is 2008 model I crashed and smashed my collar bone and it was because it saddle kicked me over the handlebars bars u can’t drop the seat post far down enough so could I get a drop down seat post but would it be worth purchasing one thanks Dan(age 14)
My front tire almost (3cm gap) hits my pedal when i turn the bars 90º to the side of the front foot... I cant even x-up because of that. Is the size of my frame (2008 specialized p2 cromoly, unknown size) too small?
I understand the progression of braking technology to hydraulic for downhill and racing applications, but for dirt jump, why don't you stick with cable and use a Gyro? Seems like such a better system for the application. Am I dating myself with having grown up using a Gyro? When did they go out of style?
They seem to be a hassle sometimes, though a well setup and working gyro can be great. A lot of the slopestyle guys have switched to gyros, but you'll see them use a double cable setup and looks quite strange.
I used to do these on my BMX, it had a gyro fitted for exactly that purpose. Has anyone ever fitted a gyro to a mountain bike? I'd love to see how to set up an enduro bike for a bar spin, or how to bar spin an enduro bike, yes please!
I realize this is late, but I can’t seem to not hit my front foot on the tire at the 180 mark. I can bar a BMX and my trail bike, but always hit my foot on my tire on the DJ.
#AskGMBN Is a dirt jump bike just a BMX on steroids? the geometries (and riding techniques) look sort of similar. or am i wrong? and is a trials bike something in between the 2? cheers
if u dont wanna fuck with hoses snapping then get a BMX Gyro on ur bike, sure u have to run cables but they aren't too far apart from a pair of SLX brakes
Which way do you spin your bars?

It’s exactly the same. I learnt barspin on my enduro today. If you have the good feeling and throwing you just got to try it
TIP: lean backwards a lot. If you miss the bars and ur weight is forward you will fall with ur chest on the bars. If you lean back and miss the bars you will land on ur back or legs (at least you don’t break ur ribs)
Your tip should have been offered by GMBN. Where are their comments? Nobody knows.
Tudor Ionescu no don’t lean back you’ll fall backwards and never land
@@jcam4071 Yea no coz its a shitty tip and everybody who does barspins will tell you that... You need your body weight to be above your stem to make them bars nice and easy.
