Just some recommendations BECAUSE I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS AND YOU NEED TO POST MORE😂 Something with snare drum? I know you are a wizard on a Marimba but still your a percussionist. Do a 10 minute challenge where you see how good of a quick Marimba etude you can do in the short amount of time. Or do a giveaway idk.
i’ve got a request for a mallet review! try the Innovative Percussion Ensemble Series mallets. they’re a great series! (to me at least) my favorite is the medium hardness, IP240. such a GOLDMINE! 😂😊
Hey Adam I was just going to ask if you ever do anything to your marimba bars? Like polish them or add anything to keep them in the best condition. The last thing I want to do is ruin the bars with any product.
This is a good question! I was told by a few people that if marimba bars are good you don't REALLY need to do anything to them besides maybe get them retuned every 5-10 years, and this is especially true if its cheaper stuff like padouk :) As long as they aren't exposed to crazy weather conditions like extreme heat, rain, moisture etc it should be fine! Mine always stays indoors in controlled temperature and under a cover and so far no problems 😌
I think you just have to devise exercises that focus on your weaknesses! For example, I was really bad at left hand double vertical octaves, so I did chromatic scales in contrary motion on both hands, double vertical octaves, over and over again with a metronome until I found them easy! Once you do that you can basically do anything hahaha 😌
I'm 14 years old and I love mallet instruments. How much did your marimba cost, where did you get it from, and how can I save money for a marimba and/or vibraphone
Don’t get his marimba, that is a pro marimba and most likely isn’t what you’re ready for. I really like my 4.3 octave Adams Padouk, also don’t buy it new, a good condition used one will save you a lot of money. www.lonestarpercussion.com/Keyboards/Marimbas/Adams-MSPV43-Octave-Soloist-Series-Padouk-Marimba.html?adpos=1o1&scid=scplp161&sc_intid=161&gclid=CjwKCAiAvf3RBRBBEiwAH5XYqAtJr9cogO7qeWsIK-jhait_ifLPyG2p0YDAzge-73gbHpJk1-vKXRoC8RQQAvD_BwE
Yes I agree with Ethan! Definitely try and borrow where you can until you have had more time on the instrument/can afford to buy one yourself - and even then consider something like a padouk 4.3 or synthetic! I know a lot of really good players who get by with padouk 4.3s and they have been playing longer than me :o
It took me the better part of 2 years of serious saving (scholarship + part-time work + selling some of my stuff) but in Australia these things cost way more than they do in the States! Work hard and put aside money regularly and you'll find yourself with one sooner or later :)
"you don't have to get it the first time" *cough* chair placements *cough* one time thing *cough* sorry bout that i should take some medicine for that nasty cough

All of those suggestions sound good man! I like the challenge idea a lot actually ahahaha
The third question was very helpful because I just auditioned for districts, but didn’t get in. Keep trying I guess. Great video by the way.
Gakupurple I can relate, I didn’t make district, but then I made region, but this would have been helpful. GREAT VIDEO ADAM AND ROB

Definitely going to look into these soon! IP mallets have always interested me, I just wish I could have talked to someone from IP at PASIC...
I've got solo and ensemble next Saturday and I'm playing Rotation 4 on Marimba and I've legit looked at 8 measures of it... wish me luck.
YOU CAN DO IT JEFFREY

Adam Tan UPDATE. I GOT A ONE (highest score)!!! Thanks for the motivation Adam 😁
You guys are an inspiration, truly!
Thank you so much man! I think Rob is definitely the most inspiring :)
Rob, where did you go to high school, if you are from Ann Arbor?
This is a good question! I still don't know despite watching all his videos ahahaha

do you know how to get better stevens grip whether it be rotations or verticals not just laterals

But until then most middle and high schools will let you take a marimba home over a break (even summer)
Ethan Goode OK thanks :)

how much USD does the padouk 4.3 cost?
Hey Adam! How long did it take you to save up for your marimba?
It took me the better part of 2 years of serious saving (scholarship + part-time work + selling some of my stuff) but in Australia these things cost way more than they do in the States! Work hard and put aside money regularly and you'll find yourself with one sooner or later :)
