The Chaos Effect Tanaconda creature looks a bit like Vertigo from the game Primal Rage. - Also I had completely forgotten about the Swamp Thing cartoon.
I really think You History is your best series and if you push it and keep it up with this quality it's going to get you the increase in subs you deserve. The rest of us need to not only like, comment and subscribe but we gotta share these vids and tell our friends. Let's get Ed to 100k as quick as we can!
Which might be the #1 reason I taught myself to customize. For the most modern form of Indiana Jones figures, I took some personal pride in expanding the line. Captain Katanga, Rene Belloq in casual attire, Indy covered in cobwebs, Marion Ravenwood first appearance, Marion in white (breakaway) dress, Satipo (Sapito?), Walter Donovan (with swappable "chose poorly" mode), and more.
Willie and Shorty were dogs that either George Lucas or Steven Spielberg owned (or one or the other) and a great play on the fact that "we named the _dog_ Indiana..." . Is Frankie someone else's dog? Ed? Are you trying to tell us something?!
Alligator Swamp Thing would've been a cool action figure! I remember one kid who used to live a block before me, had the Snap Up and Camouflage Swamp Thing figures. Then I remember the glow in the dark Swamp Thing figure was also made. Excellent video! :)
Just want to say thanks for making the videos. I had a great collection more recently my favorites where the turtles in time figures by Neca. But lost them all in a house fire sadly. Figures least of my worries but glad I can still enjoy figures and turtle goodness through you. Keep up the good work!
Mine is buried away somewhere, I scooped up a lot of the Swamp Thing line on sale, or clearance. A few spares went into sculpture fodder, I think I made a Marvel's Abomination out of one Swamp Thing (Emil Blonsky still has that extending wrist vine thingy built in) and one of that scrawny guy from Swamp Thing became a Marvel's Mephisto in my collection.
Boy oh boy I could educate you on Jurassic stuff for ages. I have seen the kenner bible concerning Jurassic Park series 2, and insane insider information.
@@EdsRetroGeekOut it's absolutely true. I can only offer descriptions otherwise I'd be in trouble, but they were planning to make more animals, some which made it into TLW, some which were ultimately canned. They were planning to do a TON of vehicles though. We missed out.
Great video, thanks. Swamp Thing, I had one as a kid that could stretch apart and put back together until the stickiness wore off for the figure. It was really cool though while it lasted. I never saw or heard of that figure ever since.
@@EdsRetroGeekOut Yes, very much but you could pull the limbs off. I got it at a department/hardware store as a kid and wish I could track it down to see if someone else ever had it too. It may have been a knock off but it said Swamp Thing on there. He was like an olive green color. Very cool and maybe 5 inches tall I think. Thanks for the awesome videos Ed!
@@EdsRetroGeekOut Update. I'm sorry, just discovered it was Manglord stretcher, who resembles Swamp Thing. I was a tiny kid so not sure how I mixed the two up.
Clicked as soon as I saw the Chaos Effect Ultimasaurus! I have a Resin copy Ultimasaurus I bought which was expensive and easily breakable horns but the next best thing to owning a actual prototype cause the ones I seen on Ebay don't last long and extremely expensive. Actually have some of the Chaos Effect Dinos that did got released like the Raptor, Omega T-rex, the Mutant Brachiosaurus and large Raptor.
Oh man, I had the glowing cactus Swamp Thing and the camouflage Swamp thing. Really cool tooling on both! Barely any articulation though. but when i was that young i really didnt care.
Swamp Thing’s producer had a brother who lived next to my family in Michigan. His nieces got to go to the opening of the movie. He also put their first names in an episode of a cartoon he produced. I watched it. Two of the kids in a classroom scene are named after his nieces. Something with dinosaurs I think. I saw it in the theater. I think I loved it.
Probably the GI Joe Ones just because I would have had a Blast Crossing Just One over with the TMNT Toys Pretending that they are from Demission 0 or something
The Manimals also remind me of the Mega Marines line. Monstro Viper was unlike anything else in the GI Joe lineup (aside from the other monster in that series) and is one of my favorites as a result.
Actually saw the entire Manimals wave in person as a kid, attended the G.I. Joe conventions during the 90s with my family as dealers. A family friend actually had received an entire prototype wave of the figures from Hasbro directly, and always had them on display in what I believe was an official prototype display from Hasbro too. Was super excited when they ultimately came out, though missed out on getting my favorite Vortex. The announcements for all of the other figures planned for the line always seemed pretty awesome as well.
I'm not really into toys, but your content is super interesting and very well done sir...ended up binge watching all the episodes lol.. honestly this is great stuff...
I wish I still had my swamp thing figures. I was a huge fan and had him and Batman(my other DC favorite and all time favorite hero) team up all the time against Joker and Arcane, and eventually other villains once the kenner Batman The Animated Series toys came out
I rarely ever got the big toys as a kid. I had tons of toys but very few playsets, vehicles or large action figures. One of the few I DID have though, was that giant Jurassic Park T-Rex that was able to eat things. It had a slit in its stomach to get the toys back out. I have no idea how I ended up with that, haha. I also didn't realize this as a kid, but I had a complete Swamp Thing collection. I would fucking LOVE to have that now. Those definitely got sold in a yardsale.
I mean I love Indiana Jones but lets be honest here, there really isn't anything interesting about an Indiana Jones toy line. Not everything is good for a toy line and thats OK, Indiana Jones just happens to be one of those things. You weren't going to get people racing to get a Marcus Brody or a Sallah figure and, outside of generic "solider" because they weren't gonna make Nazi figures there just really isn't much there outside of Indy
@@lutherheggs451 Not everything can make a toy line, but Indiana Jones has what it takes to be one. Off the top of my head for a set idea: "Boulder Attack™! Help Indiana Jones escape a crushing fate in the new Boulder Attack play set with Real Action®! Use the Whip to avoid the pitfalls! Dodge the Spear traps! Escape with the treasures! (Includes Indiana Jones and Benny figures other figures sold seperately)" This could sell. It's exciting. Play sets with traps and moving parts were amazing. Temple of Doom also had other scenes that could be made into a play set like the 'Duel on the Bridge' where the bridge can 'snap in two'. Lots of great ideas there but poor execution led to it being a cancelled idea.
I had that six inch indiana jones figure. Weirdly enough, I lost the figure and kept the hat. The hat ended up in my Wicket figure after I lost his hood. lol I don't know if I still have those anymore though.

I'm always curious to find more info about a cancelled figure/line I was interested in. The figure was advertised in a magazine in a 2 page spread showing his massive wingspan. I believe it was the figure Ra from a line called War Godz. Anyone know anything about it?
I will never understand how Star Wars had a decent Han Solo but they could never capture Indiana Jones likeness right. But that short round is a class figure 😆

that croc SwampThing is a SHAME was not produced... it could be probably the best variation of the line
Yeah i think the whole line deserves more love

Love these Toy History videos. The only problem is, they always make me jump straight on eBay and buy something (in this case: a Swamp Thing figure!)

The cartoon series intro song is a newer version of wild thing where they swapped the lyrics with swamp thing 🎵 🤣

Manimals were actually test marketed around the Ohio area. Thats where most of them have originated from.
