Thank you guys! You saved me some serious money! Thought I’d share back. Tools I used: T20 and T30 Torx head for the door panels. When it came to removing the mirror; the size that worked for my 2015 Jetta was a T40 Torx head. I used a drill/impact driver and a simple trim removal set for my pry tools.
Thank-you so much for this video! I have watched this about 3 times now and feel pretty confident I can replace my passenger side mirror on my 2016 Jetta SEL myself.
Or you can just be ghetto and unscrew just the top screw and pull the panel back like I did. Didn’t feel like taking the whole door off just to get to the cover in the top right
The cable that goes to my mirror is much longer and attached to the middle of the door. I'm not sure how to unplug it. It is different than what you show here. Edit: I figured it out. There is a red tab you pull and then you can unplug it. It’s a different mirror and plug on the 2014 gli but otherwise all the instructions are the same and I was able to replace the mirror.
I just did side mirror replacement. After this In vcds showed up error with position sensor signal plausable. What do you think its can be? Is the sensor on replacement mirror different as on original? Or its need to be set with default values after change somehow? Mirror down function doesnt working on replaced mirror...

I know this is an old video, but you saved me a ton of time on my 2012 JETTA GLI, these were the best instructuons i could find.
Triple Square Bit is the correct term for the mirror bolt bit.

On a 2017 Facelift Jetta, the screw holding the mirror in place is an XZN triple square M8 unlike the M6 mentioned in the video.
Great video, guys. Perfect step-by-step and saved me a bundle.
You are awesome thanks for this!!!
What type of glue do you recommend to glue the exterior mirror glass?

Hi! Thank you for very good videos!! That 6mm (Torx looking) tool is "XZN" or "TRIPLE SQUARE" which name you did not know.
Thankyou.
Is the 2012 vw golf driver side mirror the same than 2012 vw jetta?
Thank you.
What year is this car ? Will this procedure work for 2016 Jetta ?

Is it a 12 point m6 bolt holding the mirror on? Please respond someone!
Did you ever find out?
Its called a " Triple Square Socket".
It’s an M8 spline bit. Not M6...
How do you take the plastic housing off?
It’s easy, just pull the housing from the back to front, from the thick side towards the slim side and it comes off easily
