As a member as the LGBTQ+ I think the whole neopronouns and identifying as animals really made the whole community look like a giant joke, honestly I don’t really care who gets offended because it makes me feel embarrassed to be semi apart of it (we’re not talking about therians, that’s its own community… we’re aware of the difference….)
As someone who is trans, thank you so much for saying this. A lot of neopronouns are used to mock the trans community and I hate it. I know there are multiple people that have “valid” neopronouns, and that use them for real. But the rest is so annoying
@@awcoolcrew8879 I'm sorry if the experiences I had may not match your experience, but I had tons of people who made fun of the trans community ( my community, idk if its yours too ) by using neopronouns, they only see us as "cringey neopronoun users that use rats pronouns" even though most of us dont. And im sorry if I might misspelled this, but I do support neopronouns, I really do, I just think that some cross the line, especially when it comes to internet. Im sorry but people are using literal emoji's. And I didnt mean it in a bad way with "somebody speaking about this" I know there are tons of other issues, but I meant it more as "thanks for informing people about all the stuff thats going on on tiktok ( especially ) because im tired of people using nouns on me and call me weird names, purely because of those people on the internet. Again my biggest excuses if any of this doesnt make sense
Xenogenders kind of make the LGBTQ+ community seem more like a fandom than a collection of people who fight/have fought for their right to be ftm, mtf, gay, lesbian, bisexual, etc. They make gender and pronouns seem more like an accessory or something to collect instead of what they're really there for. They act like gender and pronouns are something you can choose when it isn't. It’s stuff like this that makes it easier for the transphobes to say that the LGBTQ+ community it dumb. Liking cats is fine, it’s a personality trait, but it’s not a gender, it’s a noun. Turning your personality into a gender isn’t just silly, but it’s disrespectful to actual transgender people who have fought to be happy.
Exactly! We literally risk our lives just being ourselves and fight for our rights still today, but stuff like that really diminishes everything we as a community has gone through.
I also just wanna clarify that I don’t think you gotta “look trans” to be trans (2:40) I was using the bathroom scenario as an example saying you can’t just go into a restroom and claim you’re that gender without any real indication or effort that would just be creepy asf…LIKE DUH. But i can see how it can be misconstrued in that way. anyway this was all fun and jokes at the end of the day, if you’re mad stay mad i can’t help roast you when you’re literally identifying as a bee babe it’s just natural instinct 💋
You only stated facts, I had a traumatic experience when I was a kid in a women's restroom by a guy I didn't know, so I'd be terrified if what appears to be a man just comes in and says it's okay because they're trans. I can't belive people are mad about this...
i called someone a “they” a while back and they said to me along the lines of: “Excuse me? That is very rude. My pronouns are GL1T3H👾/GL1T3Hself👾” like bitch you want me to call you what? ill just stick to they, i mean, im sorry-
yea and they say its how neurodivergent kids express themselves.. but theyre not expressing themselves at all because theyre not an animal nor an object. instead of feeding into their delusions they should encourage them to express themselves better like, a trans man using he/him pronouns.
As someone who is queer themself, when I found out about neopronouns I really tried to be supportive and learn how to use them. But the whole time in the back of my mind I was skeptical and thinking that this whole thing was crazy. If someone went by the pronouns she/her, he/him, they/them or any combination of the 3 I will respect that and call them by such. It’s like people who use neopronouns never had or heard of having a nickname. I believe that neopronouns are why people outside of the community will not take us seriously, I believe that this will and has hurt the lgbtq community.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this very comment. I have had the exact same experience when introduced to neopronouns and I can never wrap my head around it. Same thing with xenogender people. If you do not feel human, do not go out of your way finding a gender/pronoun that "fits you" and instead get help. (And I don't mean get help in a rude way, I mean it as in just get help because I'm pretty sure not feeling human is not normal.)
This is exactly what I meant. Because i think other people forget that they/them pronouns is like the generic pronoun. I don't think it is misgendering when you don't use OVERLY specific neopronouns.
The same happened with me! I tried to be supportive and educate myself in it but after doing my research I just came to the conclusion that it is absolute nonsense
As a member of the LGBT community I find xeno "genders" extremely ridiculous and unnecessary, but unfortunately nowadays you can't have common sense or make rational criticism because someone so weak minded will send you d3ath threats or will falsely accuse you of being "-phobic", I dislike the largest part of online LGBT spaces
OH MY GOD FR i started to think other "gender identities" are just a load of bs.. like if you're non-binary, genderfluid, i support whole heartedly BUT IF YOU IDENTIFY AS NOTHING OR A FAIRY???? 💀
These neopronouns add so much fuel to the fire when it comes to ACTUAL conservative/homophobic/transphobic people laughing at the LGBTQIA+ community. They're never going to take anything seriously at this point.
It’s so frustrating and completely counterproductive to any goal around trans acceptance. It’s insane that the apache helicopter meme used to be a transphobic joke, but now people are unironically defending the principle behind it.
@@jaspinator5000 Godspeed to you brother. More trans people need to disavow the neopronoun/xenogender position. It’s a losing position and will (hopefully) pass like all fads eventually do.

I'm an ally, and I tried to understand these neopronoun people for a while, but I just can't. They really piss me off because they're making such a mockery of trans people. Lots of people will see these tiktoks and think that being trans is the same as claiming you're a rat or a demon.
Speaking as a transgender person, I would also agree that xenogenders and neopronouns do cause more stigma around the trans community BUT, it doesn’t mean you can hate/despise people for identifying and using them. Especially since most people that use xenogenders and neopronouns are neurodivergent or autistic and use them since they don’t know any other way to express or identify their gender. Also, identifying with xenogenders technically makes you trans, since it is considered a Non-Binary identity. I don’t really know how I could explain things properly since I’m bad at writing, so I guess if you have any questions about anything or want me to elaborate more on a subject just ask!!
@@ijustsentanairstriketoyourhome I actually have a question, bc Ik not everyone has the same experience with being neurodivergent as me, but I've seen so many other neurodivergent people say they don't understand neopronouns bc they're complicated, plus I just don't understand how a noun can be a pronoun, and lastly why couldn't they just use they/them ? I'm still sorta new to the English language which also kinda makes this complicated but pls know what I mean
I'm trans and I love and support people who use neopronouns and xenogenders. All of my trans friends support and love people with xenogenders and neopronouns. They're not hurting anyone, people are hurting them for being who they are.
As a queer, If you have neopronouns (doesn't include they/them) I could'nt give less of a shit. You can do whatever you need to feel comfortable with yourself. I don't mind, I'm not bothered, but I'm not going out of my way to ask what your new pronouns are everyday (had someone actually do this) and then get screamed and yelled at when I'm not going to call you bun/bunself and then two days later you decide you're actually rat/ratself. You can't expect everyone around you to just be walking on eggshells over your pronouns. No one is required to do that, and as long as they aren't purposefully trying to hate crime you over your pronouns, who gives a fu ck if people don't wanna call you a bee? Why do you need every single person do validate you? That's narcissistic, you aren't the center of the universe babes, sorry.
Yes! As a xenopronoun user (and also a pronoun collecter), I’m completely fine if people don’t want to use them as I also use they/she, yes, it is appreciated, but I find there is no need to have an unnecessary argument about what I’d like to be called. Yes, I might add a new xeno to my prnouns, but I’m not expecting anyone to use them if they don’t want to. ^-^
As a nonbinary person, thank you. My exact point. These are not identities. Making up literally 100S OF PRONOUNS makes the real trans communuty look bad. Its unreal.
I literally laugh every time someone says this. Like, babe that s what ftm and mtf people think about YOU! AND WHAT GAY AND LESBIAN PEOPLE THINK ABOUT BISEXUALS AND TRANS PEOPLE AND AROACE. All it is, is people hating to fit in. It's what biracial people do around white people that hate black people, what gays do to lesbians. It's just hating on people to try to fit in better. At the end of the day, people already want you dead
As a member of the LGBTQ+ I 100% agree with this. At this point it’s literally just mocking the trans community and it needs to stop 💀 Edit: Alright guys, please stop replying. It was personally used to mock me when I was out of the closet and I've learned to accept it. Please stop replying I wish you a happy day!
I found how a person defends himself... saying this: "neopronouns ruin the community and are transphobic" - my trans and non-binary friends using neopronouns I am Peruvian and here in Peru those pronouns are not common... but I have seen some on Twitter (minors) but it is not very common. I only find "ELLE/ELLES" pronouns here as neutral pronouns... On the other hand, on Twitter and on Tiktok there are minors who say that their pronouns are xe/xem or xi/xim or it/its (I don't know what their grammar is, sorry), but in English. At least in Latin America there is no such thing as rabbit/rabbit itself, etc... it would completely ruin the community and it would be seen as a fandom that is serious...
We need more people speaking up about these kids making a mockery of the community because if they try to represent the LGBT they’re gonna give people the wrong idea by misinforming them.

i’m a trans guy, and i’m fine with neopronouns as long as they stay online and just for fun/as a coping mechanism. if someone goes out in public and expects to be called demon/demonself by everyone who meets them, they will be in for a very rude awakening.
I was banned permanently from r/lgbt (i'm gay) for terror-related activities. I posted a single thread commenting how I default to they/them pronouns if someone tells me that their pronouns are zir/zem or something similar. I understand that it's a sensitive issue atm, but IT IS NOT TERROR RELATED. Ravon, i've just discovered you, and it's awesome finding another member of the LGBT community who realises this is a bit much now.
Yeah the lgbt community can be embarrassing as hell sometimes. Like homophobia sucks but tbh some of the hatred is the fault of the community itself for going overboard. It sucks for the rest of us who just wanna exist, but we're being lumped in with insane Twitter people who get all the attention.
What’s more frustrating is that these people usually go “But it’s mostly autistic people that use neopronouns! You need to be considerate of the fact they don’t identify the same way as other people.” Okay, I’m autistic and LGBT and I’ve met a bunch of people with autism that are also LGBT that still don’t go around identifying as a chocolate, cream, vampire, goth fox. You’re putting a bad label on not only trans people but autistic people. It almost feels like you’re infantilizing people with autism.

Okay, I'm saying this from the perspective of a queer teenager who isn't from the west. I have been having mixed feelings about neopronouns since I've known abt them from TikTok. Like I understand that people don't always identify he/him or she/her that's why there is they/them. I have asked people to give me reasons why neopronouns are valid and the strongest argument so far is that "English is made up of made-up words" and a person told me before that most people who uses neopronouns are autistic. Personally, if I don't know you and I don't have the time to look at your bio I will use they/them, if I know your name then I will use that, if somehow I looked in your bio and the neopronouns you made for yourself makes sense then I will use it. I have observed that most people who use ridiculous pronouns such as (noun+self) bunself, beeself are white. I saw a tiktok once where a POC discusses how these white folks want to be opressed so bad they will make an issue then they will stretch it. From a perspective of a queer teenager outside of the US, videos like that give me the ick, it reeks of privilege. While I worry about me not having basic rights you worry about neopronouns. Instead of getting mad at people from the internet imma need you to TOUCH SOME GRASS
Fr, I agree as a white teenager also outside of the US. There are people who actually are oppressed and need help to fight with oppression and then there's this group of neousers 😶
I agree with you SO MUCH. as a person who lives in a country where it's LITERALLY ILLEGAL BY LAW TO BE GAY . It just makes me so mad to see these privileged lil kidz whining abt someone not calling them vampireself. And im worrying about not getting in jail for being a transgender man! The contrast is so present and they are too blinded by their own privilege that they are ungrateful for! >:(
i can tell that these kinds of “neopronouns” aren’t to make the person in question more comfortable with their gender but instead to feel more “cool,” “quirky,” or “aesthetic,” and i personally believe that it is actually pretty harmful to the community
I’ll support your neopronouns if they can sound and function like a pronoun. The point of a pronoun is to make it so you can talk about someone without using their name over and over. So when you use (Vampire/Vampireself) and your name is Emily ima just use your name because it’s quicker and easier to remember than the pronoun.
@@richardgoranski hello, genuine question here (and i hope you don't get offended),, but does xem stand for anything? or is it just a regular neopronoun

@@msilva2423 it was my understanding that they/them are technically considered neopronouns, but maybe I'm wrong idk. I'm cis so I guess I wouldn't know lol
I find this topic… hard to form an opinion on. While I support neopronouns, like xe/xem, ze/zer, etc. I don’t agree with… all of it. I think using a basic variation of binary pronouns like “she” and “he” to create pronouns like “xe” and “ze” is completely normal. I understand that notion of not agreeing with binary gender, even finding the title “non-binary” and pronouns “they/them” to be too… restricting. Like a label you have to fit into. That’s why I agree with the neopronouns movement. Where I find issue with certain neopronouns is when people use them as accessories, clearly not genuinely connected to them and feeling uncomfortable using other pronouns. I think some of these people glorify the LGBTQ+ community and try to be as flamboyant, colourful, and different as possible. While I endorse and AM flamboyant, colourful, and different, it’s sometimes taken to extremes, as people in the community seem to be “battling it out” to see who can have the most random neopronouns. It’s kind of like a… weird competition. And it only seems to exist (to this extreme) among 12 year olds and young teenagers. I also just generally don’t have a clear understanding of identifying as an animal or thing. Gender is binary, it’s a term humans made up to describe the difference between intersex, AMAB and AFAB people. Humans are all just… humans. Gender is something we can mold, but we’re all still humans in the end. Whereas, SPECIES, is not something you can… change. Being a furry, people might call you “cringe” but why? You’re just having fun, dressing up as an animal and such. It’s like cosplay. The ethics of “cringe culture” are complicated and confusing, but at the end of the day, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being a furry. I only take issue with therians and people who claim to identify that they’re animals, or sometimes *inanimate objects.* which is… um. Wild. It doesn’t really make sense. My other issue with this extreme shift in the way people are identifying is that it’s making a mockery of the trans community. People who use these (sometimes absurd) neopronouns are kind of mocking other trans people. While me, and other grown trans people, (and even trans teens!) have had to fight to be who they are, whether that was years ago when it was still illegal, or whether it was battling it out with your parents and getting bullied at school for BEING trans - these people who claim to identify as a plethora of random things haven’t fought a day in their life, just young preteens who claim these things on the internet but likely don’t express them to their parents or family. And those that do, well… they usually aren’t accepted with a warm welcome. And while that’s *not good,* I don’t think that people *should* continue to cater to the insane things these young people are claiming to be. Identifying so differently also gives conservatives/republicans more reasons to disrespect and ridicule the trans community. It also creates a divide in the LGBTQ community. I hear people say “I’m gay, but I’m not THAT kind of gay” in order to make themselves seem cooler, trying to disrespect the trans community, labelling them all as “cringe”. They want to be divided from us. Sometimes it’s not necessarily out of truth, but because they don’t want to be bullied by *other gay people* for supporting neopronouns and such. It’s so complicated. Personally, if some teen tells me that they’re ‘catgender’ or a therian, I’m not going to tell them that they’re inherently wrong for identifying that way. I’ll let them figure it out. Let the odd phase they’re going through pass. Homosexuality and transness is not a phase. Not usually. But this an exception. It is almost… a trend. It’s weird, and a little unnerving. I think these kids just need time to figure out who they really are, and stop trying to be cool and different for tiktok. But I’ll say it again: I fully support people who use neopronouns, so long as it doesn’t have to do with being an animal or inanimate object. Those, I find a bit silly, but won’t completely disregard. I don’t want to hurt anybody, y’know? I’ll let people be who they are - if they change, they change. If they stay the same, keep identifying that way as an adult, maybe it really is true. I’m sure I’ll have a solid opinion when I’m *older* but right now, I don’t really know how to feel. But this is kind of… an essay… to explain it. Sorry this was so long lol
same, i’m here for neopronouns that are not too bad (ex. ones i wouldnt use are demon/demonself), and self expression (i’m literally bi and trans), BUT IF YOU SAY YOURE EDDIESEXUAL IM OUT

this is so real. honestly, i don’t find ppl using it/itself that bad at all, and i will respect any pronouns, but some pronouns are where i draw the line. i definitely think some people are using neo-pronouns as an accessory more than an identity. an extra thing to make them look cooler. one time my mom (she’s a professor) told me that one of her students said that their roommate identified as a houseplant. A HOUSEPLANT. again, i respect all pronouns and will address people with their preferred pronouns, but i’m not calling anyone houseplant nor using house/plant. 💀

As someone who’s bi, it really embarrasses me to know that people like this exist in the community. I simply like men and women, not any of this other crap Ofc im not gonna belittle you if you use they/them or you’re trans or something But you can’t expect me to use neopronouns, I’m sorry
As a bisexual cis girl I completely get where you're coming from I've been called transphobic for not calling someone fairy/fairyself. I completely respect trans people but fairy/fairyself aren't valid pronouns.
The LGB is something and the TQ+ is something else entirely that is EXTREMELY biphobic, homophobic, misogynistic, and pedophilic. And as a fellow bisexual person, I can’t emphasize enough how gender cult is NOT our community, nor do they represent us at all.
I’m bi too! I also use any pronouns and someone with neo pronouns called me elf. I asked why and they said: “Elf is a neopronoun you uncultured idiot.” … I called them “she” and they started crying.
Xenogenders like catgender/doggender/etc are usually used by neurodivergent individuals who see gender as an expression rather than a social construct, and find the best way to describe their gender is through cats/dots/etc! Doesn’t mean they believe they actually are those things, but neopronouns are also a form of expression
I have a friend who uses neopronouns and I respect them but there’s to many people using different pronoun’s for me to keep up with since so many people want me to call them by a different pronoun so I accidentally called them a she just once. They completely had a break down and started yelling in the cafeteria, and it was beginning to be to stressful for me just to remember someone’s pronouns which is why I asked myself, how did I get to this point and how do I solve it. Eventually I just decided to avoid people who use different pronouns, not because I hate them but, I NEVER want to be in such stressful situations again. Edit: had to fix an auto correct

Xenogenders kind of make the LGBTQ+
community seem more like a fandom than a
collection of people who fight/have fought for
their right to be ftm, mtf, gay, lesbian, bisexual,
etc. They make gender and pronouns seem more
like an accessory or something to collect instead
of what they're really there for. They act like
gender and pronouns are something you can
choose when it isn't.

Exactly! its just a glorified nickname used by kids who want to be special

Instead of getting mad at people from the internet imma need you to TOUCH SOME GRASS
what does color have to do with this? it's crazy people not the whole white community babe

Neo pronouns were invented to disrespect trans people and nonbinary people
I use fae/faer and xe/xir pronouns for srs not as a joke
I’ll support your neopronouns if they can sound and function like a pronoun. The point of a pronoun is to make it so you can talk about someone without using their name over and over. So when you use (Vampire/Vampireself) and your name is Emily ima just use your name because it’s quicker and easier to remember than the pronoun.
I agree with that statement.
Completely agreed!

Damnnn.. yall love a man for being openly transphobic huh
