If you want to know more about Robert Beer, may I recommend the Guru Viking interview with him. He talks about his life spent learning Buddhist art as well as his experience of bereavement after losing his daughter. Very moving.
What an amazing book. An incredible source of inspiraton for any artist exploring any media comes to mind. It reminds me of the books I used get from the Dover publishing company. They became fundamental in building a resource library in studying art. This is book is far more extensive than what I have, but it does remind me of those books.
Thank you so much for this in depth review ! The book is very expensive and do I was debating whether or not it was worth it. After your amazing review, I went ahead. Thanks again !
I recommend the MoGao cave painting and motifs, which are Chinese traditional motifs just like Tibet Buddhism symbols. Tibet motifs and Mogao motifs are all Chinese cultures. But Buddhism originated from Indian and transmitted into china through trades between Asian.
Hi FF, I’m late to the video... darn job got in the way....😜. Great review. Gonna look into adding it... have a great evening...looking forward to the next surprise!
Maître Poisson: A handsome volume, indeed. One caveat: On more than a single occasion, I've found newly-published hardcover books from Shambhala to have startlingly fragile spines, such that individual page bundles would split away from the spine, finally coming loose altogether. I hope your current volume will escape that fate.
Beautiful book, reminiscent of those produced in the 1800s. Incredibly expensive layout and work on the dust jacket and plates. Wow. Just wow. If the page edges were gilt and a code embedded in the first or last word of each chapter, I'd believe it was from a different time.
Is the publisher Scarlet Imprint reputable? I am about to order the book you recommended in another video. I would greatly appreciate anyone's input who has had dealings with them. I apologise and please delete if this type of post is inappropriate.
@@FoolishFishBooks They look beautifully made. I just wanted to check it that they were not one of ones you were burnt by. Thank you for the reply, it is most appreciated 😊

I've had this book for almost 15 years and there is nothing quite like it. Robert Beer's work is monumental
Wish I’d seen this book before I bought ‘Reading Buddhist Art’ ! This one is excellent and made by practitioner, wonderful - thank you for the upload.
I remember researching into this book years ago and wanted to see the inside of the book but couldn't find anything.. So thanks so much for this!
Looking to add this to my book collection library of sacred knowledge 😁🙏🥰
