Wow you can really hear how important the bass is for a rock song. There's no... "boom". I hate people who say the bass is not important, it's just as important as the guitar and the drums.

im gonna be honest here, i feel as if though the bass in green day became less important over time. this particular song without bass is awful, but when you listen to some of the american idiot songs without bass, they don't seem so bad. does anybody else know what i mean?
yeah, old green day had more of an emphasis on bass and drums but these days its more guitar. I would have to agree with you

Don't feel the chord changes as well. Theres a very staccato feel to this song and without bass its sounds muddled like an amateur garage band.
