Don's say Daniel "....... shit", this is insulting, friend
Daniel Torres, this is Rutger Gunnarsonn's Bass composition.
i didnt know ABBA¨S bass lines were so fuckin killer , better than most greedy bands
In know...that e string is killing it
Allbbrz Nope......written by Mike Watson and last time I see him he looked as white as Swedisch snow!
+Allbbrz Whats up with that racial comment, dude?
+Allbbrz rutger gunnarsson,the bassist of abba.swedish dude
+Talsma Makelaardij Hahahah i like that :-)
Watching this as a beginner, I just realized I have a looooong way to go! Amazing!
Take your time and begin with some easy stuff first.
I’ve been playing on and off for 20 years, and this still blows my mind.
Any updates on your progress?????
@@infusion26 Really good work! How long are you playing bass guitar now?
@@infusion26 hay
this song + extra bass headphones = sex.
;'D
Even $15 earphones do the job
Eargasm
How so ? 😂😂
Yes!
It's orgasmic on SONY WH - H900 N, almost!👍😊
I've always found it interesting how ABBA songs have strong basslines that make up a large part of the overall sound of the band and how when performing live, the bass player was in the wings, or even in one tv appearance, the bass player sat on the end of the front row of the crowd! Top video as always, definitely one of the best technical players on RUclips! :D
I once read one idiot journo describe Abba's songs as having 'plodding basslines.' Fool.
Playing the Guitar for 38 years myself, I never appreciated the Bass part. I don't know what brought me to this video today ... but you opened my eyes. This was educating ... MAN, you are fantastic !!!
I play keyboard, and this its so damn fantastic
He opened your ears
So damn funky. I could listen to the part starting at 2:53 on loop all day
We all know there is one King,
And Mark never dies!
But if he should ...
This shit is goooooood
Why?
But respect that they had enough guts a faith in it to keep that part extended. So many times I hear songs and they are afraid to "go over" and the cut a great segment short for time or whatever reason when it should have been longer. One comes to mind is Seal's "Crazy" heard clear on album version, there is a small segment with a powerful african drums. When I hear that it frustrats me because they treat it as a throw away. I would have centered a song around it. One thing I like about rap (one of the few things) is that they would find a segment thrown away and do just that: make a whole song out of it
There are some true artists in this world. Thank you for bringing joy to so many of us. You are very much appreciated. Thank you.
I've been wanting to learn how to play the bass for 30 years. This video has inspired me to buy one and learn how to play it NOW. (It's that awesome.)
Danielsan B How is your bass playing going?
@@jadodavo Yeah tell us
This is nice to hear. Songs where you can hear the bass so great! I hate it that they turn it down in songs. It's so nice to hear the bass. Great to boogie on :p!
Magicbjørn l
Congrats man..amazing fucking work. People should see this video to realize how important is the Bass in a song...Thanks alot.
well said brother. Bass is lyf
YES!

BR é nóis
@DDR 3K BR tá em todo canto do mundo mesmo kKKK
Damn!! That's funky as hell! As a novice bassist, I'm very excited and very intimidated.
The bass lines of ABBA ( disco band) are surprisingly the most badass ones
Keep practicing, you got this! :)
@@migueltrotski6622 funky bass is one of the foundations of disco
Don’t be. Practice. Break it down into the individual parts. You’ll get it. It took me years to learn the chorus of This Charming Man by the Smiths. The verse I worked out in an hour when I was 15 but couldn’t get the rest. Practice looked at tabs and listened.
I know this comment is 5 years old but if you haven't already learnt a few Bernard Edwards baselines (bassist on chic, sister sledge etc etc) you absolutely should!
Just the right amount of nordic funk I needed at 01:05 in the morning. Thank you.
Long time no ABBA. Thanks for this.. Well played man! :)
Agreed
Wow 8 years ago, was good man
Ok this is the best video in the Universe History
Thanks :)
Well done!
Nice Job!
Right!!!!
Very good? Definitely.

My favorite instrument to hear. ❤
Heard this song for the first time in years and that bass line slaps, so I had to find a video of someone covering the bass. Not disappointed. The bass is such an under appreciated instrument and by far my favorite.
Fantastic job! I was really happy when I listened to this song and noticed that I could actually hear the bass. You're cover was very well done!
4:51 minutes of happiness in this lockdown.
Wicked Bother!! Very 70’s!!! Awesome times!
If there's a video on RUclips that makes the most powerful case for mixing a more prominent bass sound in Pop/Rock music, it's this one.
Eargasm!
Didn't realize its having such amazing bass line. Decided to hear the song again! Thanks.
Rutger Gunnarsson was a excellent bass player. RIP
@@orkunozdemir8296 son of a Gunnarson
This song + subwoofer = heaven.. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Holly shit! That D came from center of the earth!
Just amazing playing and tone. I wonder why the bass is never mixed more like this on original versions of songs? Adds such a dimension.
i love abba
.the music is incredible
Oh wow, never really realized how great this bass line was, especially with you playing it! Keep up the amazing work
Was always a guitarist and now I"m starting to understand that most of the songs I really love are Bass songs! You match my taste. Awesome.
Just got confirmation from Mike Watson that he played the orignal bassline on this and created it live in the studio with ABBA.
what a load of bull, is he up your street then?...You are Wrong!
Paul Bruton It came as a surprise to me. He lives in Sweden still and he emailed me when I was researching my article on ABBA bassists. Google 'The Bassists of Abba' and you can see the article. Mike was very helpful. I only wish I could have got in touch with Rutger.
***** Can we see this email?
Luke McKELVEY I can't scan an email in a youtube comment - I can say that someone who contacted me on Facebook put me in touch with Mike Watson. I can verify the email address as it matched his website. Specifically about this track, Mike confirmed he played on Gimme, Gimme Gimme (and corrected me that Rutger, not he, played bass on Fernando). He said he used his 1966 Jazz bass which he bought second hand in 1970. He had changed the pickups to Schecter at this time. Mike also confirmed there were no charts at the sessions. If you google Mike, he has a website (in Swedish and English) and you can contact him through the site. You can see my article by googling Abba Bassists if you're interested. You can email me through my website.
Fair enough. Sounds ligit but some proof would be nice.
Que coisa mais linda. Maravilhoso som e execução!.
Learning this for my band right now and loving that dropped D, great work.
Great to listen and watch someone playing different music than what I'm used to listen!
bass is d backbone of music.
Certainly the most entertaining and skillful bass cover the "I" have seen to date. Thanks for sharing!
So funky and good! LOVE IT!
Wow this is off the chart amazing change overs, picking , tight and so much precision .

I would say that this is one the best bass line cover for this Abba's song
Je t'écoute encore avec un immense plaisir et on est le 15 aout 2022 !! :) :)
Esse baixo ficou muito louco!
This bass went very crazy! The best version.
Holy crap. This is awesome.
so great style the moves of those hands he knows how to put his finger base on their part of each strings awesome!!!
Its like watching an ABBA session in the making. Awesome
That was incredible!! Great job!
I read that the bass was not played by Rutger Gunnarson in the recording but by Mike Watson "Little Mike", and that he also used a "1966 Jazz bass with Schecter pickups".
I love to hear this. Love to hear the components of a great song like this. Just Awesome.
Ahhh, 70's Disco funk! 👨🏻🎤
heard it on the radio and realized the bassline is freakin litt af

Holy shit! That bass playing gave me goosebumps! That was well funky! Totally smashed it! Top notch bass player
Great playing
wow this is great
Awesome!!!!!!!!
Been playing over 15 years and play everyday, never played with the pluck on g string sounds amazing
when bass part in a pop song from 70ies is more complicated and yet more pleasing than half of modern top-20...
Man....I loved that. Thats the coolest bit of bass I think I've ever seen. f I can learn how to play this, I could learn to play a lot of tunes.
Did you ever learn it?
Bloody Brilliant! I'll listen to ABBA in a whole new light now (slap bass in an ABBA song - I would never have believed it...) thanks for that.
uff great fingers, great hand, great teacher, great bass . bravo... is magic
