Isn't it great when a character comes along that feels so universal? I think that's just good character development when a woman viewer can relate to a male character.
If you study the scene when Rebecca looks at Jack shedding a tear, the writers are clearly paying homage to MANDY Moore's song Cry, particularly the lyrics: "it was then that I realize /that forever was in your eyes / the moment I saw you cry." It's a good time to be a mandy moore fan these days.
"It turns out all my mistakes were forgiveable..." Jack realizes, maybe for the first time, that forgiveness is possible, after all that happened in Vietnam. Rebecca is finding her own identity. This is amazing.
I have never seen a scene so heartbreaking in any TV show. Never has grief been portrayed with such intensity. Kudos to the entire team of This Is Us for this one.
Impossible not to cry... Every time I saw Jack in the first 2 seasons I almost cry in all the scenes... What a character and the love story with rebecca pure chemistry and love
This is such a deeply moving scene on so many levels. Rebecca's outward acceptance of being called 'Pittsburg good'... but her downward glance and that moment of silence gives her away. Mandy nailed it to perfection. Also perfect: the pause when she realizes that Jack, who never cries, is. Mandy's eyes are asking 'should I continue?' And, such a huge scene for Milo, who nails it in it's entirety without uttering a word. He gently takes her hand at the end of the scene... a beautiful hint of what's to come. And Mandy's rendition of Invisible Ink is just so moving - especially knowing the back story of how the song came to be. Kudos to all on this masterpiece!
The song spoke to me in a way very few songs do. What was most beautiful was the fact that she kept singing even though he started to cry. People who are so used to bottling up their sorrow find it hard to cry for themselves....but will easily get emotional vicariously...i love the fact that she kept singing and didn’t stop...when a person cries you should just let them cry in peace.
Those back to back lines where Rebecca talks about it being weird it always being “73 and sunny” and liking the rain followed up with being “Pittsburgh good” and taking it as a compliment shows her ability to find a positive with a perceived negative. This is why Jack fell in love with her, she is the light. And she fell in love with Jack because she weighed the few potentially very big negatives against his potential and countless positives. She could see he was always doing his best to be his best for her.
''People say it's nice to meet me, I often wonder why. I've studied my reflections, I've looked me in the eye. But I still can't draw conclusions, I'm still talking out of turn, now I ask too many questions about the lessons I won't learn. Turns out all my mistakes were forgivable, and the time I've spent lost was the sign. That all the ink is invisible if you give it , give it enough time. Now I think my eyes are open I take a deeper dive. When I feel the blues surround me that's when I come alive. When it starts to feel too lonely when it's out of my control, when the world goes oh without me will I feel it take its toll? Turns out all my mistakes were forgivable and the time I spent lost was a sign... That all the ink is invisible if you give it , give it enough time.''
Milo é sensacional, nos passa uma emoção tão grande... Jack querendo ser forte a todo tempo, isso é muito desgastante, meu Deus, que homem! Grande série, ator maravilhoso, fico encantada!!!
This whole scene made me just blub and blub. I love this episode, I love them just travelling together. I need to not be so attached to Them. THEY AREN'T REAL 😭😭😭
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Muito obrigada por publicar o vídeo 🙏🏼 Acabei de assistir pela primeira vez esse episódio. E quando Rebecca canta essa música para Jack foi emocionante. 😢 Demais! Lindíssimas e impactantes as atuações de Milo e Mandy! ❤️
In his introduction episode it opens with the melody line of this song on guitar in the score followed by the tiniest bit of humming from his actor, showing the similarity in composition and how one led to the other in all meanings of the phraise.
Yeah, I feel like it's helpful just to watch the episode, since the context is kind of just.... everything that had gone on in his life up to that point haha. He had just been through a lot of various trauma (abusive alcoholic father where he felt like he had to be the protector of his family, fighting in Vietnam, losing his brother Nicky, etc.), and earlier in this episode's flashbacks he had mentioned to Rebecca in that he never really cried and had gotten very good at "swallowing the bad stuff". So after all that time of never having really felt safe to let himself be vulnerable and feel all that bad stuff, sitting there with Rebecca singing that song helped him get there. It's sad, but it's also really beautiful, because it was a release of some of that trauma that then gave way to the part of his life that WAS happy and good! :')
Because when you find the right person, you have a moment where all of the deepest pain you've kept private inside comes out... because you finally have someone you trust enough to share it with.
Nada. 😢
This scene broke me. I totally relate to Jack in the way he doesn't really want to appear weak and just how exhausting it is.
Exactly! I totally agree.
Hey i think you gotta change that attitude! It doesn't help anyone..

I think it was sort of a "OH MY DEAR GOD" level of acting from Milo. Love this show!

Omg I thought of it too!! It's so beautiful to see that! :')
Wow! Good insight!

This is when they truly fell in love. Realized how much they needed each other.

It’s always sunny in Pennsylvania
I wonder if Jack jr. used this song to help him write Memorized. It sounds a bit similar, they give off a similar vibe.
If you pay close attention, the arrenge is quite similar

You should see it so you can feel in love with the scene

What The Hell Did She Do To Him?

Please :this is toxic masculinity. Telling men that it's unmanly to cry😔. Poor Jack shouldn't try to control his emotions
