Same! I guess it's partially because I have a pair of Bose sleepbuds that I use when sleeping to block noise. One of my favorite sounds to use is called "canvas rain" or something like that.(my other favorite is called campfire)
Luke, ignore all the neigh sayers regarding editing out the sound of the rain. Living in the high desert of eastern Washington, I dearly love the sounds we seldom hear. I’m so envious of “your rain”.
I live in Massachusetts and have been getting all this rain after you recently. My son and I love storms and watch the radar and get excited, Then just as they approach, they split because of the hills in our area. All those big flooding rains have passed us by. Growing up my family had a 12 x 12' canvas tent with big "picture" windows in the front. There were panels halfway inside the tent to make two rooms. HEAVY to set up when we camped. Left it set up outside in the back yard all summer for cooler sleeping than inside the house for the six kids.
Hey Luke, having a stressful job, it’s great to relax and watch these gear reviews. I’m not able to escape into the woods as often as you, so it’s always a treat. Thanks for providing a way to virtually enjoy the outdoors until we’re able to get back out there!
Hey Luke, I completely understand how stressful jobs can be, and it's great that you find relaxation in watching gear reviews. As someone who can't escape into the woods often, I rely on virtual experiences too. By the way, I recently came across a new project called the freebeat Morph 2-in-1 eBike, which offers a unique blend of indoor fitness and outdoor exploration. It even has a feature where you can recharge the bike indoors! It's perfect for those times when we can't physically get out there. Just thought I'd share this exciting discovery with you! Keep enjoying the outdoors virtually until we can go out there again! 😄
I’m right there with you. Between work and battling a spine injury, most of my energy is spent just in getting through the week, I watch videos like TOGR’s and other channels like his that offer me an escape back to where I feel more like who I used to be.
I listen to a bunch of storm and rain vids at night to sleep over the years. So many have so much rain coming down it sounds like a lot of white noise. This rain i could sleep well with.
Sounds great! In Dallas we still had a heat index of 100 at midnight, just over a half hour ago. It got up to a heat index of 114 today again. The thought of the 60's at night sounds like a dream come true. So does the rain for that matter. Enjoy it brother!
Hi Luke ,beautiful scenery the sweet sounds of the birds ,the sound of the rain on the tarp so tranquil ,makes you want to have a glass of wine and relax or go to sleep lol thanks for the review, stay safe
Luke … hi. I am a very late starter … aged almost 60. Female with 2 sons plus girlfriends . Having watched your vids I have a desire to camp and I want us to start this year and I’m so happy with your reviews. It definitely helps when people are on a tight budget and you tell it how it is. I haven’t got money to waste on useless goods so your reviews are everything… thank you 🙏🏼
Another rainy adventure on LoneWolf Mountain. I love these adventures and your honest reviews. Your are very correct Luke more expensive isn't always better. Thank you for another great video. Much love to you and Susie from Oregon ❤
I’ve said before I think but I have a very nice 42 ft Keystone Alpine but I always take a nice tent and sleep in it. I love the raindrops pitter pattering on the Canvas. It is so soothing and relaxing. Love your videos, you are lucky to be able to live most people’s Dreams. God Bless Sir
Could you maybe do a video on how you would go about waterproofing some of the gear you find to be sieve like?😂 Is it even feasible to fix the leaking of the poler tent, and or your tarp? Thanks for your reviews. I thoroughly enjoy your channel.
Oh I love these videos and the rain test, always enjoy hearing the thunder and the rain falling along with tarp set ups to go with the weather . two gear leaks in one video WOW that sucks , I appreciate your reviews I always know what is safe to purchase Sure hope they refunded Susie for the tent thats terrible. Your videos should help these companies emprove their product. . Thank's Luke
These rain camp/storm vids Luke makes are EPIC. Something about doing this, the cold, the wetness, the shivering, the adventcher (sic), and challenge to and with the elements, I love it. It's brutally natural and primal. How you going to make shelter, eat, sleep, etc.? No problem--bring on more rain--I can handle it!😁! I love your rainstorm/crazy weather camping vids, Luke. Keep em comin!
I love your vids ..calm and not too much chattering😂😊...its lovely listening to the rain...cant believe a tent that costs so much leaks... it definitely does NOT do what it says on the tin.
Damn…. Your productions are exquisite. High quality photography under difficult conditions. Seamless editing. You possess a clarity in assembling your story that rivals the highest levels of the commercial film industry. Nicely done. I look forward to every video.
Maybe the logo represents the fact that you can see the trees from the inside? There is a view hole on the top, I bet you can see the trees when laying down and you look through the little view hole. That is why their logo has a tree with an eye on it. 🤔 Loved the vid, you always put so much effort in your videos and I appreciate it a lot. Will camp soon in my garden with Eurohike Tamar 2 tent that I got cheap. It will be half exposed, half under our gazebo. Found an old sleeping bag, got a mattress, pillow and I will just do it. Thank you for the inspiration. Much love from the UK and greetings to Susie, she's awesome. ❤
After watching all of the video you mentioned the one Tigris bulwark tarp, never leaks and not inexpensive. I believe this tarp is the one for us. Once again thanks for your informative videos.Sandra and Pete. UK
Great video Luke as always... Reindeer-stew one of my favorites to! You should really try the Pasta Bolognese, from same company... Thats really GOOD to ;-)
My wife and i a few years ago bought a four season tent for about 600. It was worth every penny. We took it out and camped in heavy rain. Beyond the normal condensation, it kept us dry! Was very nice.
Nice to see you got some dry wood from the cabin. We all know you can do the wet wood fire, but, hey dry wood if available would be my first choice too. Brian from NZ 🇳🇿
Hi Luke & Susie, wow that was some heavy rain thank GOD for Your truck as well. Thank You for continuing to teach us on setting up tents tarps how to stay dry comfortable thank you for testing the test too. I've had an experience years ago our tent water came thru. I'm learning.❤⚘⚘🤗
U r Kaizen! Love that Toyota pickup…Your videos never disappoint. I’m Long time viewer and you are the most consistent channel on RUclips, I check your reviews before buying anything.!!! You are in great shape these days, fair play…I don’t know how you continually get better with every video. You are kaizen..!!!!!
I first watched a couple of vids on this channel about four years ago and didn’t like the bloke. Thought he was wrapped up in himself. Been watching a lot of videos recently and I’ll hold my hands up , and say I was way off the mark. He really cares about the content he provides. Top man. 👍🏻
My Kodiak Canvas truck tent has yet to leak. Next time I take it out and there is a rain event, I will do a review. Old guy with a cell phone review. I had very low hopes for the Polar tent after watching your other video. It did not disappoint. Or did it? depends on which way you look at it. As always, thanks for the unbiased reviews. Stay safe and God bless.
I was thinking instead of an eye that it could be a canoe instead of an eye in the logo? Great job as usual. Content Galore for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels of experience
I really liked that tent and wished you would really test it in the rain. What a shame that so little of it was exposed and it leaked in the first video. We live in Southwest Louisiana and most of the heavy rains come with wind, so we would expect to need sidewalls for tarp setups. I've been trying to figure out what we could put up to shield our carport from hurricanes, but it would need to be very sturdy. Same for the patio, which is covered. Perhaps it's better to leave both open so the wind could pass through without causing any harm to the structure. I love rainstorms and love your videos where you're in the rain and snow, etc. That window on your tent is eye-shaped like the logo.
I did NOT see that coming with the Fjallraven tarp! Good to know! I have a reasonably priced, Wise Owl Outfitters tarp I bought online and I've been very happy with it so far but I haven't tested it in a storm like this yet, just the occasional passing thunderstorms. Great video Luke, keep up the good work.
Hey my friend luke I've been watching videos from 10 years ago recently & man I miss that intro young luke knew exactly what he was doing . /freezing rain overnight 🔥. Tks
Thank you for a fine review of this product. I am an 'Old Fella.' In my time, most tents leaked, including my $600. Jansport high-end tents. Most tents held condensation that was almost equal to a shower. This tent did shed a good bit of rain...and we would have been 'dry enough' inside. Perhaps shelter is a 'relative thing.'
Hey bud I enjoy the videos a lot I love camping when it’s raining I’ve got an old Remington 4 man dome tent it’s never leaked a drop and I bought it in the 90s but keep us informed about the gear it’s so helpful thanks
I have a 10 x10 Kodiak canvas tent , the best wet weather tent out there . I have been out in torrential downpours with no issues . These tents hold up to strong winds heavy rain and dry out relatively quickly . Maybe your friends bought glamping tents that weren’t supposed to be subjected to the elements.
It's a pity that this tent leaked... and leaks so badly.. Hmmm, that logo, is it sasquatch peering out from inside a tree or is it the "all seeing eye of sauron"? I love all these reviews of yours and your adventures. 👍❤️
I'm glad you admitted it rains there in NC😉as if there was any question... $300 leaky tent, nope. $100+ leaky tarp, nope. Appreciate the work filming/videoing with all that moisture present, must wreck havoc on the cameras etc.. I had to laugh when you put on that jacket...Going into our fourth week of 100F+ temps with one small rain three weeks ago, relentless heat, wind and sun here. Great video, thanks for the trip.
Thanks for keeping us updated on your camping gear. SAY HI 👋 TO SUZIE FOR ME Luke. I love your channel watchn every video. Love thunder ⛈️ storm's n camping. I wouldn't choose the Gazel or the Polar tent due to leak's, think I'd stick with the Coleman tent w a cover over the top of the tent instead I've always had good luck with the Coleman tent.
Hi Luke! ( Hi Susie!) Luke, were you a beaver in another life! The way you like the wet woods makes me wonder. I bet this Poler is going to be a bath tub! That symbol might be a one-eyed Yeti!
Nice, long video... love it. You had previously talked to Suzie about seam sealing that one since she liked the tent so much... are you still considering trying to do that?
There's a RUclipsr whose slogan is, "I'll See You in the Trees". His channel is Swan Lake. He lives in Canada, and he's a Native American. It seems to fit that Logo for Polar on the tent.
I used a big canvas ridge tent for a few years in the west of England. If you understand them they are excellent . they must be proofed at the beginning of every season. you must pay attention to the tent guys when it rains. You should not touch the canvas of a tent from the inside when it is raining. It really helps to have a proper fly sheet, which must be bigger than the tent roof. The one made for the tent is best. Small canvas tents that work are rarer than hen’s teeth and very expensive( used to be made by Blacks of Greenock) I would say that a good canvas tent and fly sheet are ideal for car camping. But and it’s a serious but ! the tent must be stored dry or it will break down, only giving a short life, looked after they’ll last as you need.
I use a cheap tent and cheap tarps and they are waterproof , not sure how well they would stand up to our hail storms with golf ball and bigger hail . but I can vouch for the fact they are waterproof.
I am glad you're are doing the low budget tents also. I bought 2 Several years ago. 20 or so. Cheap twenty dollar tents from Wal-Mart. They have been up the Superior Hiking Trail and a few other campouts over the years. They withstood a heavy thunderstorm last time out. Not a leak. Really think they were for kids buT they work for the occasional hike.
Hard to watch this video without going to sleep because of the soothing sound of rain on the tarp …lol
Same! I guess it's partially because I have a pair of Bose sleepbuds that I use when sleeping to block noise. One of my favorite sounds to use is called "canvas rain" or something like that.(my other favorite is called campfire)
It’s almost as good as rain on a tin roof. 😂
TOGR is like my bedtime story 😊
I did! Had to restart...
Me too!
I love to hear the rain it is one of my fav parts of your videos

Hi there hope you are well,
Another great video of precipitation i just love that type of content in the rain and really pouring
It's a pity that this tent leaked... and leaks so badly..
Hmmm, that logo, is it sasquatch peering out from inside a tree or is it the "all seeing eye of sauron"?
I love all these reviews of yours and your adventures. 👍❤️
The draconian eye of Saturn/Sauron
Love the content. Also, 👍 on the music.
Thanks!
The Illuminati all seeing eye was exactly what came to mind when seeing that logo for the first time!
Your theme song should be It's raining again by Supertramp.
I envy you, Luke. I miss Virginia. A new climate every day.

MY God Luke,12 inches of rain !! Holy smokes !!😁
Nature is always watching ,didn't catch overall foot print four person tent fly covers all no air movement be safe Luke Peace
When you test out these tents like this, it would be a good idea to put a digital thermometer in there so we can see how hot/humid they get
I wonder what kind of test these companies put their products through. I mean all Luke did was set it out in the rain...crazy. Thanks again Luke.
Thanks for the review, appreciate your feedback young man.
Very cool the way that tent pops up. Might be worth taking the time to seam seal and maybe spray with silicone.
Thanks for keeping us updated on your camping gear. SAY HI 👋 TO SUZIE FOR ME Luke. I love your channel watchn every video. Love thunder ⛈️ storm's n camping. Send some of that rain to the Hill Country in Texas!! It's been around 108 & dry, dry, dry! We're even having to ration our water!
Why didn’t you setup the tarp with the dropped back wall toward where you expected the wind from instead of using a side wall?
Greetings from Clarksville, TN. We share your rainy weather and humidity. Here it rains about 120 days a year.
I did start dosing off, but I haven't been sleeping well lately, but great video.
Love watching your videos from Newcastle in the uk.
man, lot of rain this year. the symbol on the tent reminded me of the bumble to be honest.
I use a cheap tent and cheap tarps and they are waterproof , not sure how well they would stand up to our hail storms with golf ball and bigger hail . but I can vouch for the fact they are waterproof.
