    You can follow the Path 1 after having chosen Path 2. In some or probably most cases, you can't do the vice versa. Choose Path 1 only if you're confident about yourself and can survive the struggle. Nice to hear your story though.

    Very well said Khyatt. As someone who has been hell bent on getting into the top 3/4 bschools of the country for the past three years, suddenly since the past few days I've realised that now the opportunity cost in terms of time that I have invested is insane and life would've been a lot different otherwise (could've been more enriching otherwise and could've learnt practical skills instead of quant concepts). Although I've gotten 99+%ile now for two years in a row, but now I feel MBA is suddenly not that attractive anymore especially since the top schools require an insane 99.9+. This was the video I needed to see today. All the best man!

    U could also Take path 1 by choosing path 2 who said b schools are only for jobs
    There may be a possibility if u would have choosen to opt for taking admission into top b schools you would have ended up figuring out what you want to do
    B schools not only provide education as we have access to almost 99.9% of the content nowadays
    But there are other pros too
    Boosting confidence
    Networking
    Soft skills
    Personality development etc

  • @ayushdivecha
    @ayushdivecha Месяц назад +4

    It completely depends on which path you wanna take in life. If you wanna opt for something little untraditional then great follow that Path 1 and figure it out. If you wanna get into something too specific like PE/VC, Investment Banking, etc THEN YOU NEED A GREAT DEGREE FROM A REALLY GREAT COLLEGE.
    Figure on what lines atleast that you wanna make your career. Don’t let a 99.1%iler inspire you to not pursue something that you know you can eventually crack it

    Appreciate your perspective bro....but it would be better if you also inform about your socio economic background. ... Because which path you choose also depends upon your socio - economic status...generally people from lower middle class background ( like me) opt for path 2.... Beause we want to get out of the position we are currently into and education is something that we can rely upon for that.... And i don't think there's any harm in opting for path 2 both paths have their own pros ans cons!

    • @khyattdesai
      @khyattdesai  Месяц назад

      I absolutely agree with you that there is no objectively better path, and that both paths have their pros and cons. But with that being said, I can definitely tell you that path one will give you more freedom, adventure and meaning in your life. And socio economic background doesn't necessarily have to deter you from choosing path 1. I know a lot of people who have come from extremely fragile financial conditions, and still built a meaningful life opting for path one.

    This is such an important thing that most people do not realise in India. My brother did not pass out from a top college, nor did he get a good package. But he stayed resilient, joined a startup, skilled up and now he earns 40LPA, more than any of my cousins who followed the conventional route. Its really motivating to see such examples. Great content. I read your newsletter too, looking forward for more 😊

    I completely disagree with your perspective! It seems like you are born with a silver spoon that you can try and explore, good for you man, but not everybody is. While Path--One (self-directed learning and skill acquisition) offers significant potential for growth, freedom, and income, it assumes a level of financial stability that not everyone possesses. For many individuals, the structure and certainty provided by Path Two (traditional education leading to a job) are necessary to secure financial security and stability. It would be valuable to acknowledge that both paths have their merits and that financial constraints can play a significant role in determining which path is viable for an individual.I don't come from very rich background, to me everything you said sounded weird and I couldn't relate with it at all!

    • @khyattdesai
      @khyattdesai  Месяц назад +2

      While I agree with you that both paths have their merits, i don't think financial constraints have as big of a bearing on it as you might think. I know plenty of people who have come from very disadvantageous financial situations, and have still built a life for themselves without any formal education. In a lot of cases, finances are just an excuse for people to opt for the safer path. Thanks to the internet, almost everyone has access to world class education and resources at their finger tips. Even though you are not from a privileged background, you have access to internet as is obvious by your comment. This means you have the ability to upskill yourself, and find the path that adds meaning and value (both financial and otherwise) to your life. I'm not saying that's the case with you, but most people will choose not to do it because it's harder and takes more discipline than just being told what to do by an institution or employer.

    • @karanjeet776-v5k
      @karanjeet776-v5k Месяц назад +9

      @@khyattdesai Bro seriously excuses?? access to the internet?? I had a word with my friend about your video, he made me realise that you cannot understand my perspective and you reply made it more clear. But you know there is nothing wrong with that, you don't know what it's like working multiple jobs at young age to get your family going. And brother I see your point, but I think it overlooks the real challenges people face when money is tight. Just having internet access doesn’t mean someone has the time, energy, or support to focus on self-directed learning, especially if they’re working multiple jobs or supporting their family. Traditional education gives structure and stability, which many people dependetes on to secure jobs because employers often value formal qualifications. Discipline and motivation are important, but they’re not the only hurdles,, guidance, mentorship, and the right tools also matter. For many, choosing traditional education isn’t about avoiding risk; it’s about survival and building a secure future. Both paths have value, but the choice depends heavily on someone’s situation, not just their access to the internet. I see your it's your first video and it is doing pretty well, I'm happy for you. I hope you could grow this channel all the best. 👍

    See ultimately whether you choose Path 1 or Path 2 the journey to self discovery and understanding your skills/talents is is very important so it's not necessary that if you choose path 2 there won't be any uncertainty it's the nature of our education system that has made students get into comfort zone. Very few post their placements realise their tue potential and become leaders going forward. It's very important to know that Path 2 will only give you start but ultimately Path 2 guys have to follow Path 1 to succeed in life

    Prepared pretty hard for CAT, luck wasnt there on the D Day and performed at my worst. But I had the potential for 99.5 plus.
    Now Im planning to go on Path 1 to explore and figure things out. My goal is to do something of my own rather than to work for someone else.

    Good Video khyatt. But i think you still haven't got in touch with reality. You are comparision for both paths was primarily based on money. I am also 22 working as a business analyst in Finance from last 6month(First Job). I learnt one thing - Asli Ameer woh hai jo satisfied hai. I have people in my life who are earning crore and still getting unhappy over small things , on the other hand there's someone who is happy with what he has. I would suggest choose path which allign's with most of the parameter's of your life, like apki family condition (Financially), apki priorities, most important ye path wath kuch nahi hota sabki life different hoti hai so MAKE A PATH THAT SUITS YOU THE BEST.
