- I decided to post a mini baking series to accompany my holiday prep series this year. I've received so many requests to post this recipe I knew it had to be part of my first (hopefully annual!) Holiday Baking series. I make these chocolate chip cookies for most ever holiday & every family gathering as take home goodies. I'm sure your family will love it, too! I have pasted the recipe below as well as the link to it on my pinterest page. Please let me know what you think if you decide to try this recipe out! Thanks for watching :)

Chocolate Chip Cookies
Note: Recipe adapted from Martha Stewart Living Magazine Holiday Cookies 2005
www.marthastewart.com/344840/s...
Makes about 42 cookies
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
½ cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup m&ms
Preheat oven to 350°. Place racks in the center of oven
Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt and set aside. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the butter with both sugars, beating on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla. Reduce speed to low. Add the flour mixture a little bit at a time, mixing until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips and m&ms.
Use a 1 ¾" diameter cookie scoop to measure out dough and place on parchment lined baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 7-8 minutes, rotate cookie sheets, and then bake an additional 7 to 8 minutes until cookies are golden around the edges, but still soft in the center. Remove from oven, and let cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks. Allow 1-2 hours to cool completely. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.

I am featuring a recipe I adapted from the Holiday Cookies 2005 special edition issue of Martha Stewart Living magazine. I did not create this recipe. This is not a sponsored video. All opinions are my own. Хобби
My grandma taught me to make my Choc. chip cookies. She was in a wheelchair but could teach anyone anything by talking them thru it. Of course she taught me to use self rising flour so I didn't need salt or baking powder. I have always had the best compliments on my cookies. They are always so fluffy and taste wonderful.
"A festive holiday apron is always a nice touch." Wearing fancy aprons when I'm baking makes me happier than actually eating the things I bake! :) Love your videos!
Thank Jen! I love your mini baking series and couldn't wait to see your popular chocolate chip cookies. Have a great holiday.
Made these last night as well, love this receipe.
Just tried your recipe! Thank you so much! They are PERFECT!
making for my kids lunch...special treat today! Love this!
I love the amount of detail you go into because it means I can have my laptop on the counter and bake right alongside you in real time. Great Vid!
I made these today and they were such a hit with my family! Defiantly going to be a new tradition! Thanks for sharing :)
I'm baking the cookies right now again, its the second time I bake them. This time I added semi sweet chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and walnuts. The first time I baked these delicious cookies was for Eastern only white chocolate chips but added food coloring to make the Easterie. Thanks Jen they are so yummy. Thanks Martha Stewart.
Just made this year's 1st batch - they are a family favourite at Christmas time x
I must say, that was definitely the scrapiest scrape-a-roo I've EVER seen. Well done!
Making these today for my husband to bring into work tomorrow (and of course keeping some for us here at home), thanks!

Yay! Thanks Jen Merry Christmas!
I love your cook nook's Jen. Keep them up.
Love your baking/cooking videos! I bake frequently, but I appreciate that you take the time to give detailed instructions and show all the steps you take while baking your delicious looking treats! Thanks for sharing with us! I'm looking forward to next Christmas for your videos you've planned already! Merry Christmas to you, Don and Winnie and to your family as well. :)
Whisk sifters rule! Jen, your timing is perfect. I bought M&M's to add to my cookies and I was just going to use my usual recipe, but I'm excited to try yours. They look scrumptious!
Hi Jen! My daughter and I just watched your tutorial to make Halloween cookies. Thanks again for sharing, we watch them repeatedly because you're the best! xoxo Jen in Boston
Love these videos. Just taken my latch batch out of the oven and they look yummy. Thank you for all the wonderful detail you put into everything. Makes it foolproof. Happy Christmas Jen x
I loved the way you explained these cooking recipes, and especially the little musics when it blends, so fun! It makes me think of an English TV show from the 60's-70's with Tony Curtis and Roger Moore named "The Persuaders" ("Amicalement Votre" in France).
Anyway, these recipes were gorgeous and I will try them for sure!
You really should do more like these, you film and explains really well and it seems so good!
Oh those look so yummy!
that looks so gooddddd
Thanks for sharing, can't wait to try these this holiday. :)
Congratulations Jen, on another successful cook nook! They look delicious (as per usual). I like that when you make these you usually add the festive M&M's. It's those little touches that make any occasion feel more special. My maternal grandmother used to make a huge variety of cookies for Christmas & her chocolate chip were my favorite. (They were thicker like yours too.) Thanks for triggering wonderful memories for me. A Very Merry Christmas to you & your wonderful extended family! Squeezes!
i made them for new years and they were delicious everyone ate them so fast
I just made these for Easter tomorrow, great job Jen! I think I am also trying the spinach squares, wish me luck!
I love your baking videos! I hope you will do more of them soon xoxo
Thanks Jen,the cookies look so good.I like this shape better too. Merry Christmas. Hope it snows on your vacation. Have lots of fun. Bonnie in Tx.
please do more baking videos! love them :)
Thank you for sharing , I'm going to definitely make them !!!!!!
I baked these cookies today for Easter, I separated the dough in 2 and added food coloring to make the cookies colorful. They were delicious. Instead of m&ms I used white chocolate chips.
I'm making cookies today! Merry Christmas to you, Don and Winnie!
Thanks for sharing! Love it!
I just made this and they were soon good thanks for the idea!
Jen, I aspire to be like you when I grow up. You are amazing!
Thanks for sharing the recipe, Jen. I'm looking forward to making this. Every M&M cookie that I've ever tried to make always turned out soft and flat and kind of gross, really. These look so pretty and appealing.
Merry Christmas!
Aloha!
Looks very yummy, Have a very Merry Christmas Jen
I love seeing you use my vanilla!
Those look so Yummy!!!!!
I love all your Videos.. these where great... looks also Delicious. Now I wish I had some cookies. Merry Christmas.

Thanks Jen for sharing this cookie recipe :)
I miss this videos!!!
Hi Jennifer, I just made these cookies and they were great. Thanks for sharing. love your videos :-)
I love the details you put into your videos. :)
Thanks for sharing! I didn't know about the refrigerator trick so the cookies don't turn out so flat. They look delicious, as did all the others you've shared with us :)
I tried these for our Christmas Eve service. So festive looking! I'm afraid I need to replace my baking powder. My cookies weren't as fluffy as yours and that's what I like. I bought mint and peanut butter M&M's so there are more cookies on the horizon! Thanks for posting this - most helpful!
Thank you for sharing Jen ... I'm thinking the key to fluffiness is the baking powder versus the baking soda ... I will definitely try these
Kitchen Aid has additional paddle attachments with a spatula attached to scrape down the sides and the bottom of the bowl for you.
I am making these for the 5th time this month... lol thanks I never write it down i just search this so i dont forget how to do steps thank u again
making this today!
YUMMY!!
Not everyone knows how to bake. She makes it easy for people who are new to it.
Hi Jennifer, do you have a recipe binder where you keep all your favorite recipes? If so can you do a video about how you store your recipes and how you got your recipes and if any were passed down to you by your family. Awesome video by the way the cookies look delicious :)
excellent!!!
If your gonna eat cookies they might as well be chock o' block full of your favorite chocolate :-) These look so yummy, Jen! Thanks for sharing
Sure you can! The dough is more pliable at room temperature, so it'll be a little more difficult measuring out the dough with the scoop & leveling it off when cold. I think there will also be more opportunity to break the M&M's. You'll need to leave the dough in the fridge longer due to the density of the big blob of dough versus all the little cookies. But in the end I think the cookies will taste the same. There's usually some wiggle room in baking... trial & error lets you know just how much.
This is a great recipe - I made them last Christmas and everyone loved them! I was wondering if you can freeze the cookie dough or baked cookies? Thanks, Fleur x
Great!! I can try this with the kids for Santa!
Your kitchen is spotless! How do you keep it so clean?
Hi Jen, when you cool the cookie batter in the fridge on seperate trays already put into balls...would it work if you left the Cookie batter in the bowl then put it in the fridge? Then once it has cooled for 15mins place the cookies on the trays...
Jen, I also have the KA Pro6 and haven't been able to find a cover for it. The ones that are currently on the market don't fit right and are made for their smaller models. Would love to find a solid colored one because I leave my KA out on the surface of my baking center cart and I don't want it distracting from my current decorating scheme. If you know where to find one, I will be ever so thankful!
Aloha!
hey jen, i see you use king arthur's flour! you should try their precut 1/2 sheet pan parchment paper. its perfect for baking.
Please do a Christmas Schedule video like the Thanksgiving one!
Awesome!! but I'm going to miss the baking series =(
Yumm-o !!!
Please do more cooking videos!
ps those must be more moist being bulky cookies retains more moisture right?
JEN, I'm going to make these this weekend. I noticed that you use baking powder in your recipe and Martha's says baking soda.. Why do you use baking powder instead? Thanks!
Jen, I think you and Don should have a channel for your Cook Nook. You can call it "Cooking w/ Jen&Don" or "Jen&Dons' Cook Nook". I know it's too much for you to handle having 4 channels, but it will much easier to search/find your recipe on one separate channel plus we can also have thw chance to see Dons' cooking. Just a suggestion, what do you think?
So wish we had smell and taste-a-vision!!!
hi jen! grace here from the philippines...made these today with my nephews and nieces...tweaked it a bit...we added hersheys kisses instead of m and ms. turned out yummy as well. anyway, i checked martha stewart's recipe and it says baking soda instead of baking powder. is there a difference? thanks!
How did yours turn out so perfect I tried this and they failed 🙁
Jordan Wilhelmina i just made these and mine failed too!? Im trying to figure out what went wrong 😕
I use Martha Stewart's recipe as well, except I adapt mine to be gluten free lol
Jen is this recipe on Pinterest? I'm not seeing it when I search cookie and your channel name. Great instructions, I've baked for years and its great to see others techniques. Ps I love that butter and flour as well!
You make me wanna be a housewife! I seriously love your videos :)
Your oven generally lets you know when it's preheated...every oven is different.
Fantastic... do you make anything other than Cookies as Christmas sweet nibbles??? I'm considering making something tomorrow with my children and they will love this recipe.... but here in England Cookies aren't very Christmassy!...lol
Love all your channels Jen! These chocolate chip cookies look beautimous (as you & your MIL say) lol. Is there a delicious sugar cookie recipe that you could recommend pls?
~ Marcela
I Don't. I Love how she explains everything thoroughly, Very professional, just like on the Cooking channel, only takes seconds more to watch.Just my opinion, not being mean...And she makes me think that I can try, and I am 48, and still don't know how.
I made these today and theybwer
@ Meaganmd8701 the recipe is in the description box
I'm baking a apple pie tonight to bring to Christmas Eve with my in laws
