I also agree with Professor Lichtman. I understand how his system works; they are just simply questions with true or false answers. So many people still don't get it and factor in things that aren't part of the 13 Keys, especially with the economy keys. The economy keys a pretty simple, no recession in the election year and the real per capita growth equals or exceeds the previous two terms. Grocery prices, inflation, gas prices, cost of living etc don't count for the economy keys. Almost every country is going through this. I'm from Australia, we are also getting inflation, gas prices have gone up, many things have gotten more expensive. Also, not everyone worries about the border, anyway they can't fix the border. He doesn't have to change his prediction. Most of this hate is probably from Trump extremists not liking Professor Lichtman's prediction that Harris is going to win in November.

This is an unusually difficult election cycle to apply the keys. 1: This is the first time in the 42 years fast an incumbent president has resigned and allowed their sitting vice president to take over as party leader. 2: When Biden took office the US (And global) economy was in a slump due to a once in a century global pandemic, which means that in relative terms, of course there has been economic growth over the past couple of years, but the economy is still not in great shape. Also, factoring in variables such as inflation and increased interest rates, have real wages grown? (I don’t know, I’m not American), and has GDP grown in real terms? Also, there is a widespread “perception” that the economy is struggling, so even if the economic data is fairly strong, if a relative majority ‘believe’ the economy is bad and said people are the ones who cast ballots, how much does that key still apply? Another thing I wonder is, when we’re talking about close margins in a relatively small number of swing states, there are a number of issues which could potentially push one candidate or the other across the line. For example, the overturning of Roe v Wade in 2022 has made abortion rights an unusually big issue this election. Further, immigration is a bigger issue than it’s been in decades due as a result of recent events. This also makes me wonder, how do you factor in which of the thirteen keys are more important, and how much can the relative importance of each vary from election to election?

Lichtman needs to reassess his key theory. To not take into account the exceptional events of this campaign - the extraordinary challenges Trump has survived, is so short sighted. 2: When Biden took office the US (And global) economy was in a slump due to a once in a century global pandemic, which means that in relative terms, of course there has been economic growth over the past couple of years, but the economy is still not in great shape. Also, factoring in variables such as inflation and increased interest rates, have real wages grown? (I don’t know, I’m not American), and has GDP grown in real terms? Also, there is a widespread “perception” that the economy is struggling, so even if the economic data is fairly strong, if a relative majority ‘believe’ the economy is bad and said people are the ones who cast ballots, how much does that key still apply?
Another thing I wonder is, when we’re talking about close margins in a relatively small number of swing states, there are a number of issues which could potentially push one candidate or the other across the line. For example, the overturning of Roe v Wade in 2022 has made abortion rights an unusually big issue this election. Further, immigration is a bigger issue than it’s been in decades due as a result of recent events. This also makes me wonder, how do you factor in which of the thirteen keys are more important, and how much can the relative importance of each vary from election to election?
