    My friend got his job as senior data analyst when he is poor with SQL, he said the interviewer asked him this question: assume you work for Uber, they given a weeks worth of data such Trip ID, Customer ID, coordinates at the start of every trip and at the end, the starting time and end time of each trip, how can you tell by looking at the statistics where the airport is, without asking anyone. Interviewer is interested in his approach to solve the issue. I guess it shows how New data analytics is for Australia that interviewer thinks most candidates software skills is not amazing, instead asking an IQ question

    Hi Jen! What very informative suggestions! Even after so many years in the workforce in a different industry, I thought I had interviewing skills down. Accomplishing skills in data science, I am feeling more confident in pursuing entry opportunities to start applying them. However, the interviewing process has been a scary foresight. I have taken notes and will study through your additional videos, as well as review your resources. Thanks so much for your invaluable knowledge! It is so appreciated!

    Lots of times you need to take
    time limited very technical test to write codes, then hiring side is testing the codes to see how it worked. So your technical skills are #1 factor for getting the job

    I have a little (dumb) question here ... How can someone call oneself a "data scientist/analyst" ? My case is I am a senior programmer and my company has invested some time ago in a training to learn business object and ETL for me and some co-workers. I've done some data manipulation with theses program, thus as I am not very good with math ... I don't feel like being a data scientist. To be honest I mostly just "guess" the numbers and hopefuly the users (the end client) should see if the numbers fit their needs. (sounds bad ?! ... I think so too)

    • @TheCareerForce
      @TheCareerForce  5 лет назад +2

      It's not a dumb question. Data scientist as a job title has been around for less than 10 years and data analyst hasn't been widely applied in the same way everywhere. I'd say what makes these jobs unique is the blend of knowing the math / logic behind the work that's being done and then having the tool skills to make it happen as - essentially - a professional problem solver.
      😱

    • @hleet
      @hleet 5 лет назад +1

      @@TheCareerForce yeah, unfortunatly, that's what I struggle with : understanding the numbers ... so I usually find myself giving bad conclusions with false numbers on reports :/.
      When I say I "guess", it's because technically the process to obtain the data seems OK for me, but the reality is not as good as "theory". Thank you for the answer, I'll look further for the "regression analysis".

    Will they ask a lot of questions about my responsibilities from my previous role?

    • @dante3543
      @dante3543 4 года назад

      Depends on the company and the interviewer. I’ve had some interviews where I had to show them a previous project and walk them through the process, sometimes it was pure programming questions, and behavioural questions, sometimes what I did in a previous role. Expect the unexpected, and do your best. No full proof way to hack the interview unless the interviewer told you exactly the interview questions beforehand.
