He was still the Master of Funk & I still listen to his music. I was playing his music when I happen to meet his nephew. Still can't believe I had four tickets & could only find two people to go with me to his concert.

@MsJesusgod When he was recording with Russel Elevado D liked to just jam, these are the jams and D would like to record them. Thses jams/covers would inspire songs that became cuts on the Voodoo album. There are a ton of them.
@dawsonfoster I hate to hear that you don't like this version of "Superman Lover." I don't think D'Angelo took anything away from this song. The only thing I can find is that D did it his way. He stayed with the main theme of the song and more importantly, he didn't bastardize this all-time soul classic. I'm very old school and I can get with this rendition.
This song is a remake it doesn't have the same great quality as the original. If you don't believe me check out the original version on you tube, it's by Johnny guitar Watson. This version right here is whack.
Blaq Superman it’s called rendition lol .. not everyone expresses the exact same way musically speaking (as every musician knows) this is a more bluesy approach with the funky and neo soul vibe .. you got to envision how he interpreted the original to generate an idea of his own. Covers are not easy, but i believe he did a pretty damn good job yo 🙃
