  • Here's the first new song written by Martin McMahon and myself Enda Haran. A Prayer For Me is about a young man leaving Ireland to go and fight in the Great War with the promise of Home Rule when he came home, neither of which happened. It's basically a song about the heartbreak, horror and futility of the war. Indeed any war. The first verse and chorus's are told through the eyes of the young man. The rest through the eyes of a 3rd party. Musicians not in the picture are Adam Shapiro on fiddle, Mark Burke on the box , Julian Charpentier on trumpet and Éanna Haran on drums. At 28 seconds in there's a photo of Patrick Halloran from Churchill Ennistymon saying goodbye to his mother on his way to the war. God rest them all.
The song is available on The Woodmount Sessions CD and at endaharan@bandcamp.com
