Crucán Na bPáiste

My sister Mary Mc Glennon and myself singing Crucán Na bPáiste by Brendan Graham, a song about the burial place of (unbaptised) children - lies on a hilltop in Maamtrasna, Co.Mayo, overlooking Lough Mask in Ireland. It is a lament by a mother for a child she buries there during the Irish Great Famine, an tubaiste ba mho a bhuail an tir seo riamh.

My little treasure is lying down and I am sorely distressed

Because my little redhaired girl is
Laid in the children's burial ground
