When I was in 5th grade we had a trivia contest one day, and my teacher bought prizes that we could win, and they weren't lame school supplies, they were actually pretty cool and fun prizes. I won the cassette single of this song, which was a small prize. I was really into glam metal back then, had never heard of David Cassidy, and wasn't really interested in his music. It sat around on the shelf in my bedroom still wrapped in it's factory sealed cellophane for at least 6 months until summer vacation when I finally unwrapped it and popped it into my old JVC boombox out of sheer boredom. I instantly loved it, started listening to it daily, and it went on to be one of the most iconic songs of my childhood; more so than any glam song. Every time I hear it I am mentally teleported back to that summer. RIP David

I just realized there is a commonality between David Cassidy's voice and Lou Gramm from Foreigner.

David Cassidy was surely regretting being foolish and not pursuing and committing himself to marriage and family with Susan Dey. She was completely devoted to him - especially when they were young and so close to one another while working on The Partridge Family.

I wish this version of the song was on spotify....unfortunately there are only the live versions when he was older :/ it's still good, just prefer this one because he's singing the whole song.

I was born in 1978, but I feel very connected to Mr. Cassidy. A great talent, but one who suffered great loss, and in the end, besides his children, he was left alone. His last words 'so much wasted time,' makes me cry. His time was not wasted and he is loved and adored by so many. May God grant him eternal rest for the joy he brough to so many.

Reminds me of Steve Perry and Journey. I mean the style, the instruments, rhythm, the tempo. Even the culture at the time.

I luv this song by David Cassidy. I have been a fan since his Partridge Family days. Artists like David, Donny Osmond, Barry Manilow, the artists my generation grew up listening to, remain because they are truely talented. Blessed with the gift of a beautiful voice, artistry, showmanship and a great love for their fans!! God bless you David and keep the music coming!!

I remember this was a great period when both David and Donny Osmond released new music in 89 and 90

NO idea what brought this song out from the cobwebs in my brain this morning. I could hear the chorus in my head but thought for a moment it was Rick Springfield. ;) Nice to hear it again.

"There's not a thing that I would change...no not much, only everything."
    Damn, that's a powerful line.
