I was introduced to Jessica through another podcast and she’s so inspiring! I’m looking forward to my first solo trip this year and most people think I’m nuts 😂

She sounds like me in regards to our parents introducing me to travel. And we’re neighbors, I’m from Gary.
My first international trip was Canada too, and my first time in Paris almost made me do a U-Turn because it was difficult getting around with no signs or people speaking English.
I could have more passport stamps if I didn’t visit so many places twice 😂😂. I have been to Haiti, Italy, France, Spain, and Tanzania twice. I have been to many more countries and almost every state in the US.

I started solo traveling last year. My first trip was a solo cruise. So much fun! It's very empowering. I went to St. Thomas in November and I'm going on a solo camping trip this weekend. I've been bitten! I also started flying. Currently working on my private pilot license. Travel opens your world up, experience what you can.

I’m shocked but also not shocked that its 2023 and this is the first Black woman to travel every country…. Like I just can’t believe it took this long. I guess its possible that more Black people have traveled everywhere but it wasn’t documented? Still shes so amazing

One comment about staying in hostels as a solo traveler that I did NOT anticipate and that she could not know unless told (and I LOVE this interview and your tips) is that several DO NOT ALLOW people over 50 to stay. This happened to me when I tried to book a stay in Japan (and I speak Japanese and have lived there), under the pretense that older people might make younger ones uncomfortable (yes, they said that by email). So, something to be aware of, sadly. It's something that we have to even think about this as well, in addition to being Black and Female.
