5:25. It’s important to know that Star Wars is for kids. It’s made at least somewhat to sell toys. There’s nothing wrong with that, and nothing wrong with enjoying it or loving it as an adult. But it also makes sense that people won’t always have the same connection to it as an adult. Edit: I also respect the Phantom Menace take. I disagree, very strongly, because the movie is simply worse, but I respect it. I’ve been saying for YEARS that episode one is actually amazing. Sure you have jar jar but it brought you pod racing and a double bladed lightsaber. And the cgi for some of the monsters was insane at the time
Double-bladed lightsabers predate Ep1. It was first in a Dark Horse comic called Tales of the Jedi: The Sith War #3. Exar Kun is shown on the cover with his double-blade challenging his former master. I'm more disappointed that Jar Jar didn't get his intended time. It's well known that both Jar Jar and nearly the entirety of episode 2 had to be changed because of the rabid fans' negative reaction to him. DGR needs to check out Andor. It may not only be the best Star Wars media ever made, it's also good _independently_ of being Star Wars, to the point I'd use it to introduce new people to the universe.
Accurate. The so called returning Jedi giving us hopes of a new Jedi Order became a pathetic hermit who fake-fought his student. Whereas King Aragorn ruled his kingdoms of Gondor and Arnor for over 100 years before leaving them to his son in continued prosperity. King trumps Jedi confirmed.
I'll say this, Dave: I genuinely think Temple of Doom is better than Raiders of the Lost Ark. But I also think you're objectively wrong about Episode 1.
Luke's journey is the only thing compelling about the original trilogy. The fights are boring, the plot is basic, and parts of it are hilariously stupid (oh they just had another gigantic space station ready to go by episode 6?), Leia's accent is inconsistent, Luke himself is pretty annoyingly whiny most of the time, and for the love of christ, the storm troopers missed like 30 shots at the heroes standing in a straight, narrow hallway. There are no stakes, and we never really think Luke was ever going to be tempted to the dark side. Meanwhile, episode 1 has fantastic character writing, great pacing, the politics are concise but informative, the action is HEAD AND SHOULDERS above the originals, the animation for the pod racing scene STILL looks good to this day (all the CGI does), the existence of midichlorians actually solves major plotholes in the original trilogy, and the final fight of the movie is, without exaggeration, the single greatest live action movie fight in history.
@@gagejoseph91 You think the fights are boring because you don't understand the purpose of fights in film is to drive the plot. Most of the prequel fights were mindless flailing that went on too long.

I actually agree on Star Wars. I wouldn't call myself a fan of the series in general, never have been, and I've only seen a couple of the movies. But I watched The Phantom Menace with a friend when I was younger and was at least somewhat impressed, even if he had to explain to me what was going on the whole time. It wasn't THAT bad. When I was older I finally watched A New Hope, thinking, "this is it, this is the one people were so excited about, it must be really good," and at the end I was like "that's it???" It's much harder to appreciate the primitive CGI and questionable pacing of the original trilogy without a lot of nostalgia, whereas at least the prequels are somewhat more modern-era movies with more of what we'd now consider spectacle. The Hobbit take is questionable, I think those are worse than Star Wars just because of the sheer money-grabbing nature of them, the amount of stuff they had to make up and extend to get three whole movies. But at least the source material was good.
Dude provoked almost his entire viewer base in just 2 steps: 1- Video title got Switch owners (not my case) worried with their own Switches, just to find out that it is just A JOKE about the first level's theme 2- Saying he likes Star Wars Episode 1 more than the original trilogy. Even harder to believe that people were so naive to blindly believe that his Switch had gotten infected by malware (?!) Switch is NOT a platform targeted by this kind of threat.

I certainly don't blame you for checking out of Star Wars after seeing Episode 8. I almost did. It took seeing Resistance, The Mandalorian, and The Book of Boba Fett to get me back in. Rogue One was also really good. Ahsoka can easily be thought of as an unofficial 5th season of Rebels. The Bad Batch, while good, certainly is not afraid to get dark. Oh, and Clone Wars got a good, proper conclusion with its 7th season.
Usually I despise your hot takes lol but on this I'm mostly inclined to agree. Where I disagree is on Episode 1 being better than the original. Episode 1, to paraphrase Jar Jar, issa steenkin hot doo doo. Jar Jar, midichlorians, the boring-ass podrace sequence that I always skip past, the killing of Darth Maul, etc. I also agree that LOTR is better than Star Wars. Way better. I do still like the original trilogy, episode 3 of the prequel trilogy, and I love Rogue One. Some of the shows have been enjoyable but I'd say at least 75% of the SWU is mid. I too loved Star Wars as a kid and am now like "Meh." I think most people just pretend to love Star Wars still strictly because of nostalgia. Hell, look at Star Wars fans. Even the die-hards regularly crap on the movies and shows. Star Wars fans hate Star Wars half the time lol
Low key, I've always liked the Star Wars prequels more than the OG trilogy. I think it's just the better graphics and more action. The originals, especially Return Of The Jedi, just seem very slow (until the end at least). That said, I've dove into the animated shows, Clone Wars, Rebels, and Bad Batch, and some of those episodes are literally better than the movies😂
Not much of a Star Wars fan myself. I agree it ok. But as far a 1 being better due too action... THANK YOU!!!! I been saying that for a while. Glad im not alone. Lol
My view on Star wars was it was a very interesting idea and world. The appeal however has died off as we have seen sequels and TV series squander that potential. When it was more open ended with no real defined lore it was more interesting. Now Disney has spent years destroying that it's hard to enjoy even or the Original trilogy. It's a real problem with all these sequels and remakes. It's hard to enjoy an older movie knowing where the characters end up later on. I think one the first franchises this happened to me with was Jurassic Park. What they did with the original cast in the sequel movies was pretty pathetic. Never mind no one ever learned from their mistake and kept trying to make dinosaurs live with humans.
When it comes to the new Star Wars movies, episode 9 is the worst. It's not completely irredeemable, but it's not very good. Episode 7 is pretty good. It's fun, if predictable. Episode 8, however (and here's my hot take) is FANTASTIC! It got so much hate, but it's honestly SUCH a good movie. It still has it's flaws, but it's an amazing movie that people need to respect more than they do.
I wouldn't say episode 1 is better than the Original Trilogy, though it is more modern film-making, the OT is more 70s-80s feeling, slower, more down to Earth, especially the action scenes. I actually prefer that to modern action scenes that are too choreographed and too showy to my taste, but I get it if people prefer the modern style. But Episode 1 has been unfairly maligned. We were a generation that grew up on the OT when Episode 1 came out, and we wanted Episode 1 to be more mature and darker, because that's what teens and young adults like, to eat the forbidden fruit. And George Lucas made a family movie, suitable for young children. We were effing pissed. In retrospect, Episode 1 is fine. And the cinematography is better than 2 and 3 which were shot with early digital cameras with tiny sensors and low dynamic range. Episode 8 was a disaster. Why give a beloved franchise to a director whose only drive is to "subvert expectations" and crapped all over the lore and the universe? JJ Abrams was too referential, Rian Johnson was too subversive. Disney is destroying the single most popular franchise with their crap management of it.
I have NEVER booed a video from you Uncle DGR but I just can’t accept your Episode 1 SW like. Oh god man!! I don’t agree with your opinion but hey, it’s ok you can like it, it’s still SW. 😮
I've no strong feelings about any of the LotR or Hobbit or even the various Star Wars or similar movies. I've seen a decent few of them, but the only parts I go back to are Yoda beating R2D2 with a stick, and Vader doing Vader things at the end of Rogue One(?) TLDR: seen a bunch, didn't hate them, but don't seek them out to watch again
I checked out of the Star Wars movies after episode 8. To this day i refuse to watch episode 9. Rogue One was a good one, though. As for Solo and Mandolorean and whatnot, i have no interest. Kenobi kinda piqued my interest, but i lost interest a couple episodes in.

Episode 8, however (and here's my hot take) is FANTASTIC! It got so much hate, but it's honestly SUCH a good movie. It still has it's flaws, but it's an amazing movie that people need to respect more than they do.
No Star wars since episode 8? You have chosen... wisely.
Jar Jar is way less annoying than C3P0
Episode 1 is really high up there on my list. Jarjar is just as annoying to us as threepio was to previous generations
The prequels are better that the originals
12:45 I put the playback speed at .25
There are unique sounds also when having this slow, but i think it's only on nsmb style
Jar-jar is a secret sith lord
Dave, you've gotta at least watch Andor. Andor is incredible.
I hacked his switch and I now have access to all of his family's records 😈
I have NEVER booed a video from you Uncle DGR but I just can’t accept your Episode 1 SW like. Oh god man!!
I don’t agree with your opinion but hey, it’s ok you can like it, it’s still SW. 😮
2:13 AYO?!?!
holy cow that is a hot take
I've no strong feelings about any of the LotR or Hobbit or even the various Star Wars or similar movies. I've seen a decent few of them, but the only parts I go back to are Yoda beating R2D2 with a stick, and Vader doing Vader things at the end of Rogue One(?)
TLDR: seen a bunch, didn't hate them, but don't seek them out to watch again
Isn't this one from the 24 hour live stream
LotR, ok, but The Hobbit? That horrible, horrible trilogy?
Uncle DGR has gone to the Dark Side, he's too dangerous to be kept streaming
Dave, why did you avoid the key door at the end of Waluigi Pinball?
Great just got clickbaited
1:57 would the top path go the same way? I wanna know...
I think it has like 1ups in it
I had to start this video to make sure the title wasn't literally true.
Hot take? My brother in Christ, the prequel series is goated!
DAVE YOU MISSED THE SECRET ENDING IN THE LAST LEVEL WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU
Skibidi rizz toilet got my Ohio on lock
We all know that Star Trek is better than Star Wars!
keep it up dave!
Are they old enough for Star Wars? Also, I've only ever seen 1 & 4 all the way through.
3:14 this level reminds me of oil ocean zone from sonic 2
heh, yea
I also prefer LOTR over star wars.
But I also like Stargate over Star wars, sooo
Meesa like Jar-Jar Binks :(
Jar Jar Abrams
Because you mentioned Starwars. I think Starwars is overrated and Han Solo is more annoying than Jarjar.
I checked out of the Star Wars movies after episode 8. To this day i refuse to watch episode 9. Rogue One was a good one, though. As for Solo and Mandolorean and whatnot, i have no interest. Kenobi kinda piqued my interest, but i lost interest a couple episodes in.
Star Wars happens to be one of my most favorite sci-fi series. If he says anything disappointing or derogatory about Harry Potter then I have to say Expelliarmus, oops there went your pro controller. LOL just joking. Love your video of DGR, keep up the good work.
but... the key door...
