I'm from São Paulo/Brazil and I spent 2 weeks of january/08 in Montreal. The city is wonderful and I specially remember of this take-off sound... Thx for the video!
I love that take-off sound too! I have a cover album of Beau Dommage, and the first song on it starts with a recording of the Métro. It says "Prochaine Station, Beaubien" then it does the take off chime.
Are you speaking of the BEEP BEEP BEEP sound? Or the 3-tone chimes after that? That's a CLASSIC sound, and it reminds me of when I used to take the metro as a child.

I don't have a great regard for French engineering, but I admit I'm amazed how the 50 year old design still holds. It does at all look so old.
I miss Montreal so much!
A time capsule
