Mine isn’t a Murphy Labs but I got a Silverburst VOS from the demo shop. The only thing I changed was the pickups. It had the 498T and 490R but switched to a 57 Classic Plus in the bridge (uncovered) and a nickel Custombucker in the neck that I had installed upside down for that Adam Jones look. It’s now a beast of a guitar!!!!
The black and gold aesthetic is always something to behold. Especially on a thick ass Les Paul like that. Well done, Fluff!

My favorite guitar ever made. I've been fortunate enough to own two LPCs over my guitar playing lifetime. My first was a Norlin era ebony that was beat up pretty good but it was the first LPC I could actually afford. Eventually sold it and replaced it with a 2005 '68 reissue Custom in alpine white, which I still have and cherish. Definitely my #1 for sentimental reasons, even though I don't play it the most of my guitars.
Man, I KNOW that feeling! I just received my 2000 Les Paul Custom ‘Wino’ red a few weeks ago. Not a Murphy lab but the few-years-younger brother to Jerry Cantrell’s and holy **>%+! I’ve never owned a guitar that rocks that hard!

I got a new guitar today too! A Gibson Les Paul Custom 1959 M2M. I considered the Murphy Lab, but I'm not fan of the artificial aging. Still waiting the mandatory 6-24 hours for the guitar to acclimate before I can take it out of the box. The guitar was shipped from super cold Kansas City to me in FL. I had never known to do this until these last 2 guitars. I guess when you buy high end guitars the finishes can be temperamental.

DUUUUUUDE! I love a 68 Custom! And the fact you use Paradigms 11-54 in drop C#! I have a R9 Standard in that same set up. It sounds mean with a Gibson Dirty Finger pick up in the bridge. Would you be willing to do a video of you playing some Dragged Under riffs on this guitar?

I’m ok with the look of those vintage knobs, but prefer the feel of the speed knobs all day long.

I would switch the witch hats for speed knobs (black) ASAP
Not a fan of how the witch hats feel.
My first electric & first bass had witch hats, but after I switched them out to speed knobs, I never looked back.

What do you mean "must be nice?" Dude has worked his ass off for years to acquire his playing skill, learned how to produce videos and build a channel, and has been in successful bands. That's a shitload of work man, and hard work pays off.

Gibson is extremely over priced. The Murphy lab stuff is justified though, it's a literal work of art. Hand built with extreme detail and care, presumably by actual artisans.

How do you compare this guitar to your 2012 Gibson Les Paul custom with rosewood fingerboard?
How come the white on the edge od the pick guard is not yellow? like the binding? I find that odd!
First time commenting on your videos I just got a 57 custom reissue!! Decided against the lightly aged option they had due to delivery time. Was wondering does the lightly aged make a difference on the neck? haven’t played a relic before!! Great video!!
Fluff, I've asked this on multiple videos. Why did you move from the Neuman KH310s for the smaller speakers with a sub. Would love a video on the difference and how it has changed your mixing.

Beautiful guitar. The black les Paul with gold hardware is as sexy as it gets for les Paul’s. I just can’t accept the prices on the custom shop/Murphy lab gibsons. I loveeee guitars as much as anyone and see them as tools as well as art but gibsons prices just seem out of control. Am I wrong? Who knows I guess lol… anyways, love the new guitar and great channel man. Thanks!

The black GLP with gold hardware is certainly iconic. I always think of Elliot Easton when I see these. I kinda want to get an Epiphone version to hang on my wall and look good, but I don't begrudge professional guitarists who can afford the real thing! I also get why the kids might not like it, because it's a 50s design and some kids want to snub the past because it isn't "cool."

i have a 79 custom that i bought for 1400 bucks in 2002 and it looks like that and more. i can't understand 8k for it. at least you don't have to worry about dinging it up!

A good made Les Paul is nice. The prices not so much. I sold my last two Les Pauls a few years back. They sounded great but there was issues with them. Two R8's. I actually made more than what I bought them for so good investment gear.
Ironically I picked up a new black Les Paul yesterday too!

Witch hat knobs on an LP is just right.
I love a good relic and Tom is the master but not sure why he left the pickguard bright white.
The finish is yellowed, not the plastic… The guard does not have finish on it, so therefore does not yellow.
@@dangolguitartech actually plastics do yellow not as much as the finish but any original although much less does show age and slight yellowing, where as fluffs looks snow white and new.
Does this mean you have no use for your satin black PRS now? I'll gladly buy it from you, if so ;-)
