It's crazy. I have a perfectly good 12 string acoustic , one of the best I've ever played. It says Guild, they made a lot of effort to make it look real, but the serial number has an extra digit and they made it out of Koa and Guild never made a Koa F512... Why? I'll never understand.
I’m so terrified of getting ripped off on an “authentic used Gibson” that I’ve bought all my Gibsons brand new from either GC or Sweetwater and I’ve registered them all just to verify the serial numbers.
If you have any experience with Epiphones or similar guitars, you’ll recognize the similarities to a fake right away. Having hands on experience with them is the easiest way to tell, but the most common fakes are super well documented and relatively easy to spot. I wouldn’t worry too much about buying used models

Like in Norway, a Boss HM-2 from Japan can run you anywhere from $200-400 dollars here (and during these inflation, prices have risen to the double) so your perspective is kinda off when it comes to pricing the French lefty Gibson fake. $2500 is hilariously overpriced for a used production Gibson that are not something ultra fancy. Saw a BFG ZW for $1000 included shipping here yesterday

Why did GIBSON/EPIPHONE change this/change the recipe. Anyway, I thought it might be something you could find out for us ( & a good idea for a video ) Thanks, take care Best wishes

Austin/Trogly heads up on the gibson medallion…you can buy fakes of those that are identical to the real thing for like $15. Same weight, same depth, same diameter, probably even the same material :/

Because of their brilliant work since the mid 2000s, inlay worker “Bob” was not only allowed to keep his job, but given a double raise…as well as manning the caterpillar tractor, that smashes all Gibsons seconds and discontinued guitars.
I can't remember how long ago it was, somewhere about 15-20 years ago, a shop here in the UK had some Les Paul standards that had Korina bodies, they looked amazing, but they were out of my price range. I don't think I've seen one of them on your show? M

Those photos of that “monster top” are definitely edited. As someone who edits photos of guitars for a living, sometimes you gotta add a little sharpening or that “clarity” effect in Lightroom. But it’s so easy to go overboard. I try to make my photos appear how they do to my eye. I’m never trying to pull the wool over someone’s eyes. Places need to stop over doing their photography and let the guitar speak for itself!
Man I wish they were shipping that SGJ. $400 for a real Gibson SG guitar that I could set up for slide that a.ready has the pic,ups in that I prefer for slide would be a steal
😢why do you so many videos on cheap, crappy and fake guitars? I for one want to see videos on Gibson, American Fenders, PRS, or Japanese Ibanez! The guitars that we can’t afford but we can dream of owning them through you! I couldn’t care less about a Donner, Glarry or even a Chinese made Epiphone. Just one man’s opinion.

I noticed the seller on the 3 pickup Les Paul custom called it a "BLACK BEAUTY" absolutely NOT ! 1954-56 all mahogany black finished customs with P-90's had small banjo fret's also called the "fretless wonders" in 1957 all customs had humbuckers and medium standard frets ! with maple tops as well commonly called just CUSTOMS ! TROG MAN absolutely great program's I love the fakes exposed !
i have a great chibson les paul ...but the shop had to sand off the logo - can still see the outline - does anyone know how i can refinish the logo? So it does not look like a pre school project and looks legit ?

Especially when complete jigs and design specs are readily available.
I would think that with affordable CNC, it would be so easy for counterfeiters to do a much more accurate job.

That last guitars pickups, the Saturday night Specials, are freaking great pups and worth nearly half of that 400 price.
Can confirm. I have a set of the Saturday Night Specials installed in my guitar, and they are probably my favorite set of humbuckers that I’ve played.

Theres a good chance that 2004 faded les paul was originally the same color all over. That dye fades fast.
