    Using my wife’s RUclips account to leave this comment, but huge thank you for this video! Our 2018 Yukon battery decided to go out on us in Upstate NY and with 4 kids including a 5 month old, we couldn’t risk being stuck in the cold anywhere so went to get a replacement battery at O’Reillys and found out after paying for it that they wouldn’t install due to their system saying it required professional installation. Not wanting to spend more money taking it somewhere to get put in, a google search led me to this video and made it a breeze! Thank you, super informative and easy to follow!

    Thanks for this video! I had to change my battery on my 2020 Tahoe by myself today and this video made it so easy! hardest part was lifting it but I had a neighbour help me with that part. Only took an hour and I have zero experience so I’m calling it a win!

    That was a great video. It looks like a real pain in the rear when you first open up the hood, but watching it once, it made sense. My Yukon battery was super tight in there, but I removed that bolt and moved the tank next to it, and was able to wriggle the damned thing out. The replacement was about two inches shorter, so it was much easier to maneuver. Part of the problem was that the truck is parked on the side of the driveway which has a decline, so I had really bad footing and couldn't get a step stool next to the engine bay. Oh well, it's in there now. Thanks!

    Thank you for the helpful video. Two minor enhancements. One is the top of the black plastic box does not need to be removed. The second is that you get that box off the top of the battery with a clip that is adjacent to where the red door latch is between the battery and the fender

    I just did this project the other day on my 2017 GMC Yukon. I found that I could rotate the battery so that the posts face the fender & was able to lift the battery out & install the same way. Good thing these batteries of sealed. Also had to use a step stool so that I could more easily hand the battery in & out of the vehicle. Thanks for sharing your method of battery replacement. It was helpful & informative.

    👍 Excellent video! I have a 2019 Denali so very applicable to my situation with the 6.2L engine area under the hood. I needed the 45 degree/tilt battery maneuver to assist me to extract the battery; very tight fit. I had to remove the one bolt to barely slide over the radiator reserve tank, only about 1/2 is all I needed. I most enjoyed the youngster in the background; sounded like my life!

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  3 года назад +3

      It depends. 4wd is a lot of extra weight. That means you can tow more with 2wd since it’s lighter. You’ll also get better fuel milage with 2wd. If you do a lot of off road or snow weather 4wd would be nice. It just depends on it’s use

    Why does Chevy have to make regular maintenance so difficult? My wife used to have a '03 Ventura. Everything was a nightmare. A bar over the battery? In case you roll it? The vehicle is totaled if you roll it...who cares about the battery then? Thanks for a great video. Excuse my rant.

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  9 дней назад +1

      My 2000 Silverado had it up front (still had the bar, which may be useful for big bumps if it came loose), but yeah, it’s always more difficult than it should be.

    I've already swapped 5 batteries on my wife's 2015. Cussing that battery box design every time. If they would have located the coolant reservoir an inch further to front it would be sensible.
    And why cant anyone make a battery that lasts 4 or 5 years instead of 18 months.

    Only tweak I would make is that it is much easier to get the battery out if you turn it on its side (left or right) and then begin to lift up and out. Trying to tilt it the directions mentioned was not working, at all. Also, loosen that expansion tank.

    Why the red first?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  3 года назад +2

      You remove the black cable first, then the red. On the installation you put the red on first and then the black. The reason why is so you don’t short out electrical components with it arching. Once the ground is on you’ll have power as soon as red touches so if it arches from the red cable it can short out the system. If it arches from the black cable it simply discharges to the car’s frame and doesn’t blow any fuses or burn up any electrical components or worse, through you.
