- This might even be the first Mcdonalds commercial as well. Long before Mcdonalds land. I believe Ronald is played by now weather man Willard Scott. Dig his magic tray and cup nose. For tons more Mcdonald spots come to www.vintagetvco... and click on COMPILATIONS.
Well at least the hamburgers look accurate...
wockawocka robots Ha ha. Good one!
And then Kim Kardashian was born.

@@magicaaaaaal I meant a lot more then where that came from but sure.
LMAO that’s a whole mood
I like how he breaks character at the end like, "Ok, are we done?"
Damn, that was one scary clown.
How much was he paid to do this?.
He needed to go get his cocaine fix.
@@johnbockelie3899he's not even scary 😂
this was before they could edit the hamburgers and make them look better then they actually are..
They should keep going that way, i honestly dont care how perfect the burger looks.
Wildboyz Rus i dont care how the burgers look, they still look good. :P
no,they were not filled with tons of greed
And Before Ray Kroc turned it into Crap!
Really think so TheMoralKing? Look at the food in the commercial. I wouldn't eat that shit even if someone offered me some money to do so. And people payed for that
Why does Ronald look like he came from the dumpster.
because he did
That's where he got his burgers.
since this is the first commercial, Ronald wasn't used to living life as a normal person yet, so he remained in the trash bag cloths
+Rusticabcd in early 1962, mcdonald is over 450 restaurants sold one million burgers
He's Roooonald McDonald, the hamburger hobo clown ♫
Back then, they depicted what the burgers will actually look like. Now, they give you the expectation of the best looking burger in the world and then the huge disappointment of discovering the lie.
Well it ain't to disappointing because it still taste good
Then don't fucking eat there. Go to a steakhouse and get a real burger.
They had to put cardboard for fries
ruclips.net/video/IsMxJh-1opY/видео.html&feature=share
Funny how the fries from the 60's don't look anything like the fries from the 70's. No one questioned the change.
RIP Willard Scott (1934-2021) He was the original Ronald Mcdonald in this comercial.
Don't forget the cheese!
Why did I have to watch this right before i go to bed...
shit.
Ikr
its not scary
Yeah, same.
+Mariah Coolchiz URRRR RIGHTTT
"I like to do everything boys and girls do." You couldn't get away with that line today!
Yes I totally agree with you sir, sadly you are correct. How far we have gone as a society 🤔
Then immediately does a cheeky look down and back up at the camera which looks even more odd when the focus is on his face with the food put of shot. Then Food is in shot by his crotch of which he points around and then does a head pushing up and down motion with his hands for the finish. Maybe It's because I just watched that Jimmy Saville show on Netflix? Hollywood did have a lot of pervs back then even more than there are now. Definitely seems odd to me.
Today they would think that the clown is a pedophile or something if he said that in a McDonald’s commercial
ruclips.net/video/IsMxJh-1opY/видео.html&feature=share
Nah Fr 😂😂
For once, they show those cheeseburgers like they really are. Flat with cheap bread.
This is honest comercial. :)
I bed all those ingredients taste a million times better than today.
He has came from the rubbish bin
Ronald McDonald: “I like to do everything boys and girls like to do”
Chris Hansen: “Why don’t you have a seat over there?”
😂🤣🤣😂🤣
Like how when he finished dancing, he just awkwardly stands there and waits for them to yell cut.
did that sign just say "hamburgers 15cents?" holy shit
Yes it did, and the patties were hardly larger than a silver dollar. One of their early jingles went "Forty-seven cents for a three course meal? Sounds to me like that's a steal!" LOL
Paul Shugrue In the 80s or 60s you could buy stuff for 15cents or 25. Those were the good days..
Rocky Fan 87 octane gas= 39.9/10 cents a gallon in 1968, cancer sticks= 30 cents a pack, you get the idea :)
T-Bone steak, $1.49 lb. at the supermarket.
With inflation: "A three course meal for cents of Forty-Eight... Cause we cater to the cheapskate..."
let me introduce you to the boys and girls ..."oh we've already met"
>almost cried laughing
And though this commercial, we feel like we know Willard now. :'( RIP man!
Ronald McDonald was so happy back then before he was stuffed with McDonald's food
wtf!
I think, the old and new is great for me.
Yeah, diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure sure has taken a serious toll on that clown's disposition.
Fun fact: The dude who played Ronald McDonald here, Willard Scott, is still alive (as of March 2021).
He died today...
Rest in peaces
@@davidlewis5189 Yeah…I guess all comments pointing out someone is still alive will EVENTUALLY not age very well. lol. R.I.P Mr. Scott!

It's a shame they never included _this_ bit of McDonalds history in "The Founder"...

tv was like the Playstation of this time
Tablets and smartphones
Back then... I guarantee they thought watching TV was fun.
I'm old enough to remember when McDonald's looked like that.
Mercifully, not old enough to remember Ronald looking like that.
And nowadays McDonald's just looks like some sort of corporate business building lol.
(I want those burgers on my desk by 5pm sharp)
thank god i was born in 1972 when Ronald looked "normal"
I love how he stops at 1:05 like "Ok... that's a wrap?" like he stopped acting before the commercial end
“I like to do everything boys and girls like to do” 😂😂

Well, don't all of us?
@@CaveTroll-hp4vfWell yeah….. when we were kids. He’s a grown ass man lol
Wow that was Willard Scott as Ronald McDonald back before his Today show weather man gig.He was the Original Ronald McDonald.
You really gotta respect this commercial because this is a staple in McDonald's history
This Ronald is scarier than Pennywise The Clown from Steven King's IT.
He wears a cup for a nose, and a takeout carrier for a hat. And clown make up. 1st Ronald Mc Donald.
Who's idea was this?.

BREAKING: Willard Scott has passed away at the age of 87. Beyond his time as a weatherman, he probably was best known as the very first Ronald McDonald.
That's probably a little known fact that that very weatherman played such a role for the fast food chain which was history for Mickey D's.
RIP
Rest in hamburgers
When the hamburger is only 2 buns and one beef :
"he-e-e-yyy kids! come eat some magically regenerated hamburgers off my crotch!"

Willard Scott Mar 7, 1934 to Sept 4, 2021 R.I.P. 🍟🍟🍟🍔🍔🍔😔😔😔
If anyone finds this creepy, just remember that this was long before people started to dress up as clowns and chase kids with knives, Willard Scott was always the true Ronald McDonald. Without Mayor McCheese or The Hamburglar, these commercials were just so simple…
Did you not hear him say. That him and the children already met?
That's way scaryier than knife clowns
Man I wish I was born in the 1950s so I could try those big fries they had back then i mean come on am I the only one that is curious how there food taste like back then I bet it tasted like heaven
Probably tasted like kfc's wedges.
I'm with you buddy
crack on the fries
@@zealoustipp1538 Kfc sucks dick in america
I hope you could handle the flaws in the 50s. You only care about food
Note that when the other guy says that he can't be on TV and watch it at the same time, he's referring to the fact that back then prerecorded TV didn't exist so even the commercials were live.
"Oh, we've already met", in their nightmares...
This made me smile, and get in the mood for mcdonalds.😂
This was back when the 1960s knew they were on drugs.
+Carlton James Shelton but the first McDonald's just sold milkshakes no burgers or fries and the 60s they started making burgers and fries but just burgers and fries but they milkshakes and then in the 70s it was chocolate milk and probably soda.
Carlton James Shelton oh
The DAN Show do you think the regular burger from today taste the same as in 1962? I always wonder such
David Lopez probably made with much (relatively) cheaper ingredients so no
owaridark whatever its good now and ronald is eventually killed by Pennywise
I trust him implicitly with my children.
To think this would be the most popular fast food restaurant ever!
I love this classic commercial along with Krinkle the clown and his cereal , aw c:
I feel sorry for the sucker who had to dress up like that hahaha!
SUPERSAYENNICK LMAO
The good part about being in the costume. No one knows who you are.
This Ronald McDonald was more useful than the current one. He not only served up delicious McDonald's hamburgers, he also gave the weather report.;D
I remember when a burger, fries and shake cost .74 cents. Yeah I'm old.
How did it taste compared to now
@@chu-pay The burgers were juicier but about the same.
Ah yes, the time when the Ice Cream machine wasn't broken
This clown isn't scary at all, in fact he looks like a scarecrow.
Do I look like a crow to you? Cause my name sure ain't Jim.
Well- he dose have juicy lips
Best comment on the site.
This is a lot more charming than the minion looking happy meal boxes.
"I like to do everything those boys like to do."
Still the most frightening ad of all time
Have you not seen the original Green Giant commercial?
That definitely IS Willard Scott! He sure looked slim back then. Probably ate too many burgers, shakes and fries.
Thats how they paid him, in burgers and fries, lol. That's why he was so anxious to end it. It was past his contracted lunchtime.
Hey kids! Pull up a chair to the table I’m wearing and enjoy a McCrotch burger!
OG Ronald is even more creepy than modern Ronald.

Yea and they changed the sign to just an m and the guy to an actual clown, man the commercials in olden days are awesome
0:44 when they actually had truth in advertising on the television. That seriously was a sorry-looking flat hamburger there. And the clown was the weather presenter later for the NBC Today show, Willard Scott.
He ran the weather desk at WRC-4 in DC for many years before he moved up-network to the Today Show. My favorite Willard story: He used to read viewer mail on the air on Thursdays, and one day he read this: "Dear Willard, I just shoveled two feet of 'partly cloudy' off my driveway!" :D
at least the burger looks real in ads
"Hamburger Eating-est." Greatest superlative ever.

This is why people are afraid of clowns
Jessica Reeling No John Wynne Gacy is why people are afraid of clowns. And strangely enough he was busted only a block away from the first McDonald's.
