We know Ray and Claude were innocent, but really it would have been easy work to frame them. You got 2 out of towners from New York who no one knows, you have everybody in the bar who will testify to Ray yelling about being cheated and how he was gonna get his revenge. You had the waitress who would testify to Ray being physically agressive with her, then finally you got Ray and Claude kneeling over the dead man picking his pockets. Its really an open and shut case.
Open and shut case how? 1. Ray never had blood on him 2. Where was the weapon 3. Between the time they left the bar and found him and the white farmers finding them, it wasn’t enough time to kill a man. 4.Someone killed him and we know his cane doubled as a sword and guess who had a drag cut that night? Sheriff. That should’ve been investigated

47:26 this is the second time in the movie where we’ve seen a black character react what we believe would be uncharacteristically, for this time. Especially, to a white character. I wonder if this was based on stories that have been told of Black people who actually did have this amount of courage to do this, or if this was artistic license for the movie specifically.
Sheriff Pike is one of the most racist pos in movie history. He could've took the blame for killing Winston and probably nothing would've happen to him. Not even lose his job considering the time period and where they were at. But he had to destroy two more black men by framing them.
I belive Claude said he went to night school to earn the credentials for his bank job and most likely worked a lower level job previously and gambled on baseball games as a side hustle which he recently lost his bets and owed Mr Riley the $50.00
This is one of the saddest comedy movie ever, can you imagine getting 65 years of life in prison for something you didn't do at all ?

36 cases ... Life is my favorite Eddie Murphy movie
36 cases! Can’t wait for part 2.
See, I was gone leave sheriff Pike. But chore wife.........she begged me to stay😤🔥🔥🔥
😂🤭😂
One of the best films ever made.
Great video! Rick James Played Spanky Johnson
I was shock to find out spanky johnson was rick james
Y’all know me by now lol I always got more points!
For one Claude has showed how selfish of a person he is. It’s literally all about him. Ray is constantly saying how he’s going to get them out of it. Claude only says “us” because he’s included. Ray includes Claude in everything for good and bad. Honestly I think Ray was always just…lonely. And even though Claude pisses him off, he saw a kindred spirit.
Claude is the snitch “those were Spanky’s booze!” Ray was just gonna fess up “yeah you have us on the bootlegging but we didn’t kill anyone.” He was being so honest and heartfelt.
As far as the Sheriff Pike jail scene, I bet you that POS would go to church and not lose a wink of sleep. But it also shows the hypocrisy of white supremacy and how a certain someone just got convicted. When it’s us it’s ’if you did nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about’ or ‘we take the law seriously’
This movie and its themes are still so relevant to this day.
Facts! Claude was so selfish.
This Lowkey Harlem Nights 2
I've seen quite a few people say that now. It's funny because I didn't like Harlem Nights as much as I like Life.
36 cases! "That's spanky's booze"
My all time favorite movie, Rick James looked good in this film❤ Enjoyed yalls review ❤
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
Life is the sole reason behind my dark humor 😂 I love this movie. Yet it’s so sad
That's our Booze, but We Ain't Killed Nobody
I always thought Claude borrowed the money to go to accounting school
What he owed wasn't enough for school... Unless it was multiple loans🤔
Sheriff Pike is one of the most racist pos in movie history. He could've took the blame for killing Winston and probably nothing would've happen to him. Not even lose his job considering the time period and where they were at. But he had to destroy two more black men by framing them.
I always thought why didn’t Claude’s girlfriend just lend him the money for the check. She just let the men kidnap her boyfriend?
Maybe she didn't have the money. She at least went to visit him at the prison camp. 😂
Fun fact Rick James played Spanky😅😅😅
LIFT HIM!!! - Rick James ❤
Rick played that role!
36 CASES
I belive Claude said he went to night school to earn the credentials for his bank job and most likely worked a lower level job previously and gambled on baseball games as a side hustle which he recently lost his bets and owed Mr Riley the $50.00
I might have missed the part where he was doing the side hustle. Thanks for mentioning that! 😊
36 cases also i want to know a what if of sorts if they never went to jail and only dealt with spanky would be like interesting
Good call onnthe rick james i honestly didnt know ❤
Part 2 !!!!!! Bumpy’s cases of moonshine !!!
lol I’m from Mississippi, I’m a country bumpkin? I thought that was some Appalachian shit lol
😆 I was born there too! The notion of country bumpkin is from the perspective of Clyde and Ray on the movie. It's certainly not an objective truth!
