The Cunning attribute is honestly kind of a trap for Rogues in this game. While the game insists that it should be a core stat for Rogues, it really isn't. Cunning universally is used for persuasion checks, stealing, and Armour pen, but those can be maxed out through Skills and abilities instead. For Rogues specifically, the max required is 20 for Rank 4 of Stealth and Disarm, and there's a passive that allows dagger requirements and scaling to be done with Cunning so might as well go with that, right? But the MINIMUM Strength requirement for Rogues is 20 as well(required to equip the best base game light armour). So both need to be raised to 20(assuming you want Stealth or Disarm and good armour), but while Cunning's other benefits can be filled in with skills, the same cannot be said for Strength, which is still used to armour and non-dagger weapon requirements, both if which are very important in the DLC with all of the stupidly strong gear within them. Cunning certainly isn't useless, but everything it does has alternate sources, while Strength is always useful forever, with no alternatives
@@iamnotjcook Yes, but the tradeoff is not having enough strength to equip the stuff that makes you not die, and being restricted entirely to daggers. One major issue/bug with dual striking is that one of the animations just doesn't do damage. One in three of your attacks is just a guaranteed miss, making it really bad on rogues.
Partially disagree. While 1/3 of attacks are bugged you are still throwing 4 hits in the same time it takes normally to attack 2 times. Even with bugged animation you are looking at 4 vs 3 hits which is 33% dps increase. It gets worse as your critical chance and damage increases but most people seem to ignore the reality of application. You might get 1 or 2 backstabs vs non regular opponents before they turn, then you might need to move into position again. Any time spent on moving instead of attacking is basically equalizing the difference. Not sure if you can animation cancel like 2H weapon to avoid bugged animation but if so then you can crank it even higher. Building Rogue for Duelist with Pitpoint strike or having mage with Death Hex also is an option. Assassin Death Mark and poisons also benefits from this. But above all - having double the damage in single animation means that one shoting enemies even on nightmare is doable which is huge both in dps and convenience in playing the game. Or damn it all and install mod fixes. For me personally the most important thing is that it is an opening ability in the tree making it easy to grab and run through early game.
@@Sanvone That's assuming that the rogue isn't stunning the opponent and that the opponent is focused on the rogue. In reality, the majority of a rogues hits are going to be against enemies in some state of disadvantage (frozen, stunned, paralyzed, taunted by a warrior) which would all be backstabs and are a lot more damage than just hitting them with dual striking. The flat 50% bonus from backstabs (even without extra effects from specialisations or bonus crit damage) is just better than 33% more hits. Even a dual wielding beserker warrior with a dagger in main hand and using skills for 45% faster attack speed can't match a backstab rogue for DPS.
@@tortoiseoflegends4466 Stunning takes either time + stamina or chance from rune. So either time or reliability. Backstab rogue (I will assume you mean dual wielding dagger/dagger) probably is best dps in DAO but he isn't head and shoulder above rest. Maybe if you stacked 3 rogues the difference would make impact but from what I experienced on various communications channels not many like such interesting party setups. The reality is that you will make setup for your backstabs to just kill most enemies in 2 (because you just slightly miss killing him in 1) and then you have to move on. In the time of moving on you will lose 1-2 regular hits which is often totally ignored. And while Berserker Warrior can't match his dps he will finish fights faster than backstab rogue when it comes to real time cause he needs much less micromanagment :P

Backstab rogue (I will assume you mean dual wielding dagger/dagger) probably is best dps in DAO but he isn't head and shoulder above rest. I would even say that his superiority is mostly cosmetic as it doesn't meet any important nightmare tresholds and I don't see much value in finishing boss fights 1-2 seconds earlier.
You haven't tried Anders' Blood Mage skills yet. Is it because you forgot to put them on the quick bar, or you just wanted Anders to take the specialisation for personal lore proposes?
That's curious. Origins lore said that golems freeze when their masters die, not continue fighting.
Joooon, what did you to my favorite girl Sigrun!
Hope we get some hedgehogs in the near future 🦔
The level cap in Awakening is 35.
I feel i outta mention this but you should go stock up in Amaranthine since after you finish this area, the final part begins so i would recommend you go with sIgrun to Amaranthine to initiate her quest.
You should have gone in the front! It is VERY fun
Look at what he's done to our girl. Jon you should be ashamed. Why do you hate these companions so much?
Shame that there's no activated ability to take damage directly to stamina or anything that mitigates her dodging/enhances her survivability ;)
Hell if I remember correctly warriors are only class that lack this as they already are beefy
Fitting title xD
Sigrun deserved better
If genlocks come from brood mothers who used to be dwarf women, how come they are able to do magic?
As I recall it get's talked about in the DA:I dlc pack - The Descent. I won't say anything more here but there are plenty of video's on youtube if you want to find out more
there is also the power of the taint. Fiona Alistair's mother was a Grey warden elf woman in one of the books due to certain blood lineage and power of taint she lost the Taint and left the Order. Very interesting book
Taint can give you powers beyond your previous status
Science!
Darkspawn ichor powers the taint's magic and is essentially what makes them so strong in quite a few ways.
The gift giving still hurts....
Oh boy...
Sigrun is best girl
LOL Jon why didn't you just reload a save so she wouldn't lose Legionaire Scout
Jon ....... Why
You should have played a mage.. You use a lot of magic
Bro you gotta hurry up you need to finish Inquisition before the next one comes out😭😭😭
I will be surprised if he manages to finish Inquisition before 4 is released!
@@Maggainext one is out in a few months and still no DA2 at that!!!
Alllssoooo! Why would you respec Sigrun into a worse character!?!?
More importantly why didn't you burn something for your birthday???
Can we get a WW3 worms special so we can find out if we need to start learning Russian or Chinese?
Fine I'll have a cone.
Day 636 of requesting Zoo Tycoon. It's nice to know that even in a world full of dragons, blood magic, and literal demons Jon is still one of the best at destroying lives
It will be funny when he meets certain unique characters as their ambitions could come across as trying to contain Jon
First
It's weird, I love this series but I really want it to end right now because I want to see Jon play Empire total war like right now, and he cant until he finished this 🥲
We’ve still got witch hunt after this which will take a couple episodes.
