Sissi, located 45 km east of Heraklion in Crete, is a picturesque village by the sea. Sissi is not yet so busy tourist destination like neighbouring area of Malia and Stalida, but lately this small coastal resort is becoming more and more popular due to it's charming atmosphere.
The center and the main attraction of the village is port in a bay that is protected by stone wave-breaker with small light house at the edge. Around the port are cafes and restaurants and on the western slope, which is covered by small oasis of palm trees, there is one unique taverna with many flowers and relaxing vibes. Through this taverna can be accessed small beach in the port. The waters in port were surprisingly clear and transparent. The beach in port is just part of coast with flat rock and shallow waters that allow the access to the sea. Behind the village in the eastern part there are 4 sandy beaches and archaeological site.
Sissi provides an ideal setting for leisurely walks along the coast, offering picturesque sea views and a relaxed atmosphere typical of a traditional coastal village with a small port.
