Lea's version in the 1989 rehearsal is the best. You can see it on the documentary "The making of Miss Saigon". I also think all the songs she sang in the rehearsals are the best versions, including her solo of "Movie In My Mind" which is normally sang as a duet with Gigi. And her version of Sun and Moon with Schoenberg at the piano became a classic.
Lea's version, unequaled ,I love them both, Symon Bowman and Lea Salonga, they both have created the best chemistry for the role, I regret they did not fall in love in real life.
FUN FACT: Did you know that Annette Cauld is Eva Noblezada's Aunt? She was in the Ensemble and understudied Kim in the original Broadway cast and then later took over as Kim fulltime when Lea Salonga left. She later went on to appear as Celina the dance teacher on Sesame Street. It runs in the family. So cool to see Annette now be a proud aunt to Eva who wowed West End audiences in the recent 25th Anniversary revival (that was filmed) and now about to be in the same Theatre where she was.
Lea Salonga, always. Both she and Isay left an indelible mark in my brain whenever the words "Miss Saigon" are mentioned. But I'm so glad to hear Caselyn Francisco's voice. I knew that she really wanted to be part of the musical and was happy for her when she joined the German production. This is the first time I heard her sing in German. Thank you! :)
FAVORITES: Annette Calud, Roanne Monte, Emy Baysic, Jennifer Paz, Rona Figueroa, Joanna Ampil, Leah Delos Santos (DAMN SHE'S AMAZING), Joan Almedilla, Annjanette Laborte, Cezarah Campos, Tesz Millan, Linda Wagenmakers, LEA SALONGA, Karen Bernardino, Alex Lee Tano (as I said in another video, she has a pretty voice but she has an expressionless face), Analin Bantug (WOW), Kristine Remigio, Ima Castro, Laurie Cadevida, Ma-Anne Dionisio, Li-Tong Hsu, Na-Young Jeon, Manna Nichols, Tanya Manalang, Eva Noblezada, Sooha Kim
@Betsy Haze , correction for Ms. Lea Salonga (11:12). She is the original Kim at the 1989 London cast (not original Manila cast 2000) who subsequently won Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical at the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World awards for the same role. :)
When Lea sings, you will hear the words clearly. The others tend to garble the words, especially when the notes are hard to hit. Good enunciation is needed as well as hitting the notes with expression.
Saw Jennifer Paz performance in 1995, also met Deede Lyn Magno at a local bookstore promotional performance for the Play. Then around 96 met Monique Wilson in concert at local university. Of course the love of my life is Lea Salonga lol
Lea will always be my number one and my idol but I also loved many many girls in the list! Kim is a very hard role and one of my dream roles along with Audrey from "Little Shop of Horrors", Mrs Lovett and Eponine...
My first time hearing Monique Wilson and Jamie Rivera's version. Wow. Joanna Ampil's and Tanya Manalang's version, wow. But of course, it'll always be Lea Salonga. I wish you included the one from the original production on West End but thank you for sharing!
You forgot my audition for the new musical in 2021 😂👌 I sang "I'd give my life for you" as my second song and a duet with someone. We chose "This money's yours"
Jennifer paz, melinda chua, emerita alcid are good....lea and eva no doubt are the best. how amazing you collected all those clips you must be a serious fan🙂
1:10 There she is. Man, I wish she was still on that PBS show. If Annette Calud had a RUclips channel like Ruth Buzzi, People would be like wow it's really her.
Monique Wilson is the WEAKEST link among them all. Was surprised I thought she was good knowing she came from Repertory Phil like Lea. No wonder after her stint at West End, she’s nowhere to be found and faded into oblivion.
@Matthew Matousek Yeah. They should not have changed the low note. I like it better when the low notes are sung to show how wide the range is because many cannot hit the low notes. People are just fixated with the high notes.
@@asdjhfkj Eva noblezada who is my favorite Kim actually completely dodged it! I love her performance except for that part that she takes up the octave
@@DaChanging1 I was talking about the “I would rather die” part which Jenine was able to sing an octive down, even after the key was lowered a full step down. Though Eva did a great job, especially her performances when the show transferred on Broadway. She’s also among one of my favorites too!
Great to see my dear friend Chloe Stewart on this! Am I wrong in thinking this was up a full step on the Original London cast album? I remember thinking this was originally D naturals...
They lowered it a full step down shortly after the OLCR was recorded. The only other production to use the original key was the original Stuttgart/German production. I think the key change was done especially for Lea since it must’ve contributed to her almost losing her voice; she was belting her lungs out eight times a week!
FYI..Lea salong is maybe 29 or 30 years old already in this video comparison while the others are still 18 or 19 or early 20s... so there must be a difference in vocal power as you age... and imagine a 30 year old woman playing a 17 year old girl is maybe a bit hard yet Lea nailed it :-)
Lea is amazing, but it's more of an audio setting as I have noticed in the whole video that no reverb was made unlike the other recordings. Lea's other fanvids are more raw and can catch the reverb of the actual audio.
You didnt mention nor show Lea salonga as the very first Kim (in the original/ first Miss Saigon in 1989 West End and 1991 Broadway) but instead you showed her performance in 2000 in Manila.
just hear it dude.. lea much better the diction and the the conviction.. and even when you close your eyes you will understand and picture what lea's up to that song. eva is good but the other words cant understand.. and pure body language than the voice conviction.. but she's good 80% of lea
This whole video should be REDONE, with the clips arranged in chronological sequence, or some kind of logical order. It’s so weird to find Salonga, who originated the role both on the West End and on Broadway, placed in the middle.
LEA'S version was the clearest...the best!
She was straining *a lot* there. Her 2000 Manila Production singing is better. So much support and space.
Lea's version, unequaled ,I love them both, Symon Bowman and Lea Salonga, they both have created the best chemistry for the role, I regret they did not fall in love in real life.

Michael I. Haber It's so weird that Eva has two Miss Saigon connections family wise with Annette and audition/age connection to the role with Lea.
Michael I. Haber Also how Eva's theatrical career is similar to Lea's.
Jim Tiongson Monique did London but she did Broadway too
Jim Tiongson your right, also everything you said also on The Heat Is On Documentary especially at the Final Audition footage
I know, I'm not stupid that she was in London but I was asking you if Monique did Broadway as well? I've seen the documentary and it's amazing.
Haha... About 97% of Kims here are Filipinas or with Filipino blood...
Lea is not only the original manila cast. She is the original Kim.
Dear god, Lea Salonga slays everything she does!

Eva and Lea nailed it....👌
Lea Salonga is the Original West End and Broadway Kim
Original West End is 1989 and Manila is 2000

+Stephen Lee But she was also the original Manila cast 2000.....
Do you really think the editor would leave a glaring mistake like that in the video (as that would be)? Check your facts before making corrections
The clip shown was the 2000 Manila staging with Lea Salonga as Kim. She was in the original cast of THAT production.
Eva and Lea😍
When Lea sings, you will hear the words clearly. The others tend to garble the words, especially when the notes are hard to hit. Good enunciation is needed as well as hitting the notes with expression.
What made Lea Salonga the best is she emotes the song well. Not just singing well then putting emotions..
Jennifer Paz all time amazing!
Saw Jennifer Paz performance in 1995, also met Deede Lyn Magno at a local bookstore promotional performance for the Play. Then around 96 met Monique Wilson in concert at local university. Of course the love of my life is Lea Salonga lol
Jeanine sounds so powerful. Would love to hear more of Sooha Kim. She has a wonderful voice
Lea will always be my number one and my idol but I also loved many many girls in the list! Kim is a very hard role and one of my dream roles along with Audrey from "Little Shop of Horrors", Mrs Lovett and Eponine...
Lea Salonga😘❤ PERPECTION💓👍

Sooha kim has a beautiful voice
Definitely! I saw her in the current UK tour as she's now principal Kim and her voice was captivating along with her haunting facial expressions.
You forgot my audition for the new musical in 2021 😂👌
I sang "I'd give my life for you" as my second song and a duet with someone. We chose "This money's yours"
Fact:
Ms. Lea Salonga is already 29 in that video, imagine, she has been kim for more than a decade.

Eva and Lea are amazing!
I love sooha!!!!!! 💗
I have seen both Lea Salonga, Joanna Ampil on West End in London. I liked Laurie Cadeva version on here though
Wonderful compilation😲
Jennifer paz, melinda chua, emerita alcid are good....lea and eva no doubt are the best. how amazing you collected all those clips you must be a serious fan🙂

Betsy... I thank you for this! Just great!
Where can I find more of Tanya's audio?
1:10 There she is. Man, I wish she was still on that PBS show. If Annette Calud had a RUclips channel like Ruth Buzzi, People would be like wow it's really her.
Monique Wilson is the WEAKEST link among them all.
Was surprised I thought she was good knowing she came from Repertory Phil like Lea.
No wonder after her stint at West End, she’s nowhere to be found and faded into oblivion.
And here I thought I was the only one who found her voice weak!
I wish they included the next part, I want to know who dodged the low note.
@Matthew Matousek Yeah. They should not have changed the low note. I like it better when the low notes are sung to show how wide the range is because many cannot hit the low notes. People are just fixated with the high notes.
The only other Kim that dodge the low note was Jenine Desiderio. And mind you, her clip was recorded after they lowered the key a full step down!
@@asdjhfkj Eva noblezada who is my favorite Kim actually completely dodged it! I love her performance except for that part that she takes up the octave

Imagine having to learn a foreign language and perform onstage. 😱 These Filipinas are incredibly talented! 🫡
Emy Baysic is really good
Very helpful thnx soo much for posting
I LOVE Jennifer Paz as Kim!
Specially in ''you will not touch him''
Lea Salonga the best....
I liked Lea S., Jennifer and Joanna.
clearest voice: lea salonga...
Wow. So many different Asians, Asian-Americans and Asian-Europeans played the role of Kim thru the decades. Thanks, Lea Salonga, for leading the way.
Annette Calud and Eva Noblezada keeping it in the family!
I love Ma Anne Dionisio.
Everyone’s great. Ma-Anne is a revelation.
DeeDee Mango Hall and Jennifer Paz. Where did you find the footage of DeeDee?
Do you have the entire show with Elizabeth paw playing Kim??? She's a friend of mine and I would love to hear the whole show with her.
Great to see my dear friend Chloe Stewart on this! Am I wrong in thinking this was up a full step on the Original London cast album? I remember thinking this was originally D naturals...
You’re probably right.
One of German versions here sounds higher.
They lowered it a full step down shortly after the OLCR was recorded. The only other production to use the original key was the original Stuttgart/German production.
I think the key change was done especially for Lea since it must’ve contributed to her almost losing her voice; she was belting her lungs out eight times a week!
Eva sounds incredible in this :)
Jenine ♥️🎶♥️
Tesz Millan sounds like she's yelling at Uwe Kroger!
Wait hi from 2019. How is Lea in the middle? She is the original Kim. The first.

Shem Japheth Escalona watch the rehearsal of london original cast. You will see how Lea slayed the song.
Lea’s voice in the original bway and west end production in the 1989-91 was def. better than the manila prod. Her voice sounded more youthful.
hard one only seen Eva and one of her covers cant remember who it was so can not wich one it was live
Ma Anne Dionisio. 👍🏽
You didnt mention nor show Lea salonga as the very first Kim (in the original/ first Miss Saigon in 1989 West End and 1991 Broadway) but instead you showed her performance in 2000 in Manila.
LEA SALONGA 😀
How can I download the whole show from the revival on West End ???I see you have videos
Lea Salonga. #slayed
There is only one Eva Noblezada.
Charlotte Connelly yes she will always be a poor copycat of the great The Lea Salonga! Who is Eva???? Hahaha
Ima Castro with Ramin Karimloo
Klaro lea
Eva is a DREAM.
Walt Disney WORLD Suki Lopez

Alex lee tano rocks!! Love her voice ♡

Tanya Manalang is pretty much definitive.

I only came here for Paz and Deedee

True, Lea's edge is always her enunciation while singing the hard notes. Hard to do what when you are struggling for breath.
All I’m saying is.... lea salonga doe
This whole video should be REDONE, with the clips arranged in chronological sequence, or some kind of logical order. It’s so weird to find Salonga, who originated the role both on the West End and on Broadway, placed in the middle.
monique wilson hinahabol ang kanyang hininga
That original Dutch cast…scary
It’s annoying to hear the sucking of air before the next phrase😑
Oh dear, Monique is more the actor than as a singer.🤨
Rona was out of tune.😵
oh my gosh i am sorry but i laughed when i heard the japanese lyrics and the other language and their faces too ENGLISH only please english please
