    I doubt that they are questioning the authenticity of the coin itself. They were probably unable to verify the mint mark as being a D.

    PCGS and NGC tried also to conquer the European markets, especially over here in Germany. Not very successful until today, because most collectors don´t like "buried" coins. Anyways, nice grading results with the exception of the second 1916 D. Thanks for sharing ! Greets from GER, U.

      Here in Germany and France pcgs and ngc are grading and they are making a biggggg mess, calling al coins AT/QC and put a details grade on a big part that are problem free, like form a old soap box ms65 they called AU tooldLOL

      @@frankygemert1002 Coin grading is subjective. Period. Ich glaube nicht, daß PCGS und NGC sich in Deutschland und Mitteleuropa mit ihrem Systen durchsetzen werden, da die meisten Sammler keine "eingesargten" Münzen mögen. Lediglich im Investmentbereich sehe ich gewisse Chancen.

    It's a shame they sat on the fence and didn't grade the second 1916-D one way or the other. At least in the UK slabbed coins are only a very small part of the hobby.

    When they return coins in a "body bag" PCGS (or any grading company) should give a very detailed reason(s) for it. They don't and that is a huge problem. It would cost you more grading fees but you could send it into NGC and see what their take is on it. Or you could have a friend submit it back to PCGS. A different grader might actually slab it next time. Part of the problem with grading companies is the human factor. One grader thinks this way and the other thinks another way.

    • @CoinCrew
      @CoinCrew  Год назад +2

      They should have been more detailed instead of being vague...aka take their job more seriously.

    I know this is an older video, but I'm just seeing this.
    But I'm disappointed, I'm sure you are...
    My opinion: your 62 proof def looks like deep cameo to me and surprised you didn't get deep cam AND, 66 grade seems a little low as well! Smh!
    Very nice coins either way.
    I do understand the variety not being "strong" enough 'O'/'O' to give the variety grade, but the Merc dime not getting a definitive answer either way is very strange to me.
    If you have any updates on that, I'm curious to know.

    I think you did well on the grades Keith. From what I could see on the video, that 16D should have been authenticated. Get off the fence PCGS and do your job. Yes or No. Simple as that. That's as bad IMO as giving a coin a 64+ or something. It is or it isnt.
