FYI - The message of SHUT DOWN is twofold. The group is shutting down their haters and also "closing the door on their older music, leveling up to next version of BLACKPINK. Every scene and prop in the video ( the tank, katana, etc.) is a callback to an earlier BLACKPINK music video.

All of the girls are multilingual, speaking 3-5 languages each. Three of the four are fluent in English:
*Rosé* the blonde, grew up in Australia, she's spoken English her whole life.
*Jisoo* the "elegant" one, was born and raised in S. Korea, she speaks some English but is not fluent.
*Jennie* the rapper in the bathtub, grew up in New Zealand where she became fluent in English.
*Lisa* the rapper with bangs, is Thai, she grew up in Thailand where English is taught in schools, plus her dad is Swiss and speaks mainly English.

The more popular the more hate sadly thats just the way things are. In kpop this genre its super competitive between fans. These girls are literally at the tip of the pyramid. the numbers on every music/social platform is astronomical.

It’s been said already about their backgrounds. But they are so good that a lot of the older big songs they have full Japanese versions with basically no Korean for tours in japan. The raps in those versions are all English too.

One that is worth it is dududu Tokyo dome 2019 encore. It’s not crazy or flamboyant. It’s just them in their own merch. and they kill it.

The Tokyo dome one is Japanese but English raps. And it’s a crazy remix. But they just have fun. I like it more than the big fancy live shows. Hopefully one day you get to it.

I know i have had my negative comments towards blackpink but even i LOVE this song.. its on my kpop playlist.... the 'elegant' one is jisoo and she has a solo tune called 'flower' which i also absolutely love.. maybe check that out.. your 'more elegant' comment about her is spot one because her tune has a classier almost dua lipa sort of sound to it than the normal blackpink 'dirty grimy' kind of sound (blinks i dont mean that in any derogatory way)
