The latch is an sr latch which stands for set reset latch which means clicking one sets it to on the other one resets it to off. There is also a data latch which is that you have one to choose what to set it to and clicking the other one sets it
No there are photo sensors for each page if you notice there are holes which indicates which page you are on... most likely there is a photo sensor in each of those holes which detects the page you are on and outputs as needed
If you take a look, there are holes in the pages (probably light/proximity sensors) and if you don't open the book it won't turn on. If it thinks it's on the "NOT" page, it'll be on by default.
The thing is not gate is an inverter. .if input is high output is low and vice versa... So when the switch isn't pressed meaning input off or low, output gonna be high and when the switch is pressed meaning input high output will be low so out put gets off then ....

Babies are trained to count to 10 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 10) and add, subtract, multiply, divide with those. Logic gates are just 2 numbers (0,1). OR is boolean addition, 0+0=0 (0+1 = 1+0 = 1+1 = 1) AND is boolean multiplication, 1×1=1 (0×0 = 0×1 = 1×0 = 0) This is 5 times easier than decimal stuff. Definitely babies can do this.
