Hillary, you might want to try cross country skiing while Greg is on the slopes. Lots of exertion, but so quiet and peaceful. And any downslopes are usually pretty tame.
Love you guys! Hillary, you are so brave for trying, and being true to yourself, knew that skiing isn't right for you. Very smart! If you are uncomfortable, don't do it. The views were breathtaking and you and Greg had a great day.
I hear you Hillary I hate things that go fast! Had a not so good first and only time I ever skied. I’m into apres ski, fake cast by the fireplace in the chalet with wine. Now that’s for me.
An instructor when you are first learning is a good investment! I took several lessons and it gave me a lot of confidence and I was finally able to ski the moguls without fear. What really use to irritate me was these little kids that would go whizzing by me and had no fear at all. You should try cross-country skiing. It's a great workout and very gentle slopes.
If you like slow and controlled skiing, and since you love running, you might like cross country skiing. While an instructor would help a lot, skiing is very hard to learn. You did great, Hillary! My first time, I ended up taking off my skis and walking back down the mountain!
What a fun video. I was getting a bit nauseous while the camera was pointed at the ground, wondering if that was the goal, filming the skis. I love that you admit, that wasn't the goal. You both always make me smile! I can't wait for all of your future adventures!
Hot or cold Aperol is definitely an acquired taste, and not one I’ve ever been able to acquire. My first time skiing I hated it too Hillary, scared the shite out of me! It wasn’t until I finally gave in and took a small group lesson on the bunny hill that I started to really enjoy it. If I hadn’t been there with friends for a 3 day weekend of skiing my first time out I’m sure I wouldn’t have taken that 1st. lesson and come to love skiing so much. A lesson is so important the first time out, it gives you a foundation to build on, reduces the fear factor considerably by teaching you how to stop and slow down when turning, and gives you a ton of confidence that you won’t get by trying to go it alone. I really do hope you'll give skiing a second chance but if you don't I understand.
The German Alps was where I first learned to ski while I was in the Army. It was awesome, triple black diamond and crashes for three days. Cheers to living.
Oh my goodness! I loved Hilary’s dance, once off of the ski’s. I really laughed at both of your descriptions. I learned to ski in my 20’s, after a few mishaps, I became quite good skiing moguls, fully lifting my inside ski, and carving a deep turn with the outside ski. I retired that part of my life now, after a torn ligament in my knee, and encounter with a tree, and being talked into getting on a chairlift, to an advance run that was literally straight downhill. (All separate occasions), so I had pressed my luck enough. I had many exhilarating experiences that you brought back to life, thank you!
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. We are all very fortunate to have a chance to watch you two live out your dreams! I personally cannot wait to see where you land next. Hillary, you would probably prefer cross country skiing. Much slower.
Oh my gosh you guys! This was awesome. I have never seen views of any Mountain like this one to ski down. Incredible and Hillary is a natural if she only had say, a week or two on that Mt. Remember to master the plow, wedge, and to do wide traverses. It slows you down and controls speed. You guys, thanks sooo much for bringing us around. That Ice Hotel was off the charts. You gotta stay there next time. Your bucket list is going to take a long, long time to complete because you keep adding to it as you experience the bucket list you already have! Lol. Great content Greg and Hillary. Now you need a drink and do an outside jacoozy. You're going to be sore.
If you really want to learn to ski, I wholeheartedly recommend that you take lessons from a professional ski instructor. You are never too old to learn. I didn’t learn until I was 32! There are plenty of adults taking lessons. I have been skiing now for 40 years and love it. Hillary, you don’t have to go fast. Once you learn to turn and stop when you want, it is a lot more fun. Just call me a skiing grandma! Love your vids!
Such a fun video! A big HAH about skiing! We live in Central Oregon(MT. Bachelor); HUGE skiing area! SO wish you could have had a lesson, as I now you would have really progressed! Really fun to hear your thoughts about the insanity of skiing down a mountain with sticks attached to your feet! Can SO relate! No longer do it but was fun while it lasted!
You and Hillary really need to do a comedy skit about skiing like "Robin Williams Golf video" Oh!! Hey Greg I quit skiing years ago because my wife (girl friend at the time) tried but didn't like it, just like Hillary, I was just getting on to skiing parallel.....bummmer!! At least I had my priorities straight, we are still married years later ;-)
When you learn to ski, the first day is always a nightmare . You will land on your bum tens if not hundreds of times regardless of whether you had an instructor or not. It's a painful and rather frustrating experience. To learn the basics takes 2-3 days. By the end of your second day you would learn enough to actually start enjoying it and on your 3rd day you would start feeling like you are having fun. It's basically the same process for everyone. There are no people who learned to ski in one day.
Granted, my first day ever skiing was quite frustrating and scary due to going with friends who were experienced skiers and took me down the advanced slopes with tons of moguls and a bit of ice. However, the 2nd. day was great when taking a lesson with a pro on the bunny hill that had some fresh powder. My only regret was not taking a lesson on the first day.
09:00 if you've never skied before, you need a ski instructor because, with them you learn what you have to pay attention to, AND very important, you don't learn to ski well in one day ... *g*
Kudos to you for embarrassing yourselves at a cold mountain, constantly falling on an icy surface while we snuggle in our comfy, warm sofa with an ice-cold cocktail. Cheers!
I dig that you’re traveling to new spots but its honestly a bummer to see you’ve rebranded KK away from PV/MX content entirely, even your bio. I dabble in creating too, so I get the challenge in making new & consistent content. It’s just, your “thing” that I and many others tuned in for is a gringo couples adventures in Mexico and becoming one with its people/culture. That’s what made your story stand out differently from so many other travel vloggers that churn out the same travel vids. Your unique story of leaving the states for a cheaper/better way of life in Mexico, making it your own, investing in and promoting Mexican coffee and it’s culture, whilst also setting the record straight on so many incorrect Mexican stereotypes. So its saddening to see you turn away from what people tuned in for to begin with, gringos in Mexico trying to build a better life, since it’s become so expensive to do so here in the US. But ultimately I understand that people change and need new adventures and wish you the best.
Skiing should be about control and technique and not about crazy drop yourself off the mountains adrenaline so i think in fact you would be a very good skier Hillary
I don't think this is the case @Kevin Mundy. I was under the impression that the Kennon's are just taking an extended European vacation and will be coming back to Mexico. They do have a coffee business which is based in Mexico so I really don't think they're permanently moving to another country anytime soon.
we're not "giving up" on anything--quite the opposite, actually. We're finally setting out to pursue our Bucket List! Some things are in Mexico, and others are all over the place! Our dreams are truly borderless and we can't wait to pursue all the adventures!
I would never try skiing on the rental equipment! You would have done lots better if you had gone with equipment that was top of the line! You have to have more confidence in the equipment, than even yourself!
I don't think the problem was the equipment! haha. I don't think buying all new stuff really made sense for us financially--especially now seeing I hated it and will never go again! haha!
Guys I went to Vallarta and had tacos de pastor at las Güeras it was soooo good and the ciruela water as well, I told them hey I came because Greg and Hilary are fans and the guy at the pastor stand said oh yeah the RUclipsrs so me and my family had a very nice dinner the salsa verde was delicious and I loved how you open the water from the sink, I wish I could’ve seen you for some autographs! 🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧

haha! YES--fireplace in a chalet is so much better :)
It's always so fun watching your winter adventures. Honestly if it's your first day ever just getting the ski shoes on your feet is a good job 🤣
An instructor when you are first learning is a good investment! I took several lessons and it gave me a lot of confidence and I was finally able to ski the moguls without fear. someone else mentioned cross country skiing too! Maybe next time I could try that. If there is a next time! haha!
Winter experience for Hillary: check out the Quebec Winter Carnival (and they have an ice hotel).
OHHH I will have to look into this--sounds incredible!
What a fun video. I was getting a bit nauseous while the camera was pointed at the ground, wondering if that was the goal, filming the skis. I love that you admit, that wasn't the goal. You both always make me smile! I can't wait for all of your future adventures!
Hillary is one of the best beginners I have seen on skis. Even from the start she was more sturdy than most.
awww thank you for this! haha!
I use love your contagious enthusiasm! You guys find the fun in everything, a joy to watch.
thank you!! Thanks for exploring with us!

awww yay! Thank you for coming back skiing with us virtually!
I’ve never skied, and have no plans to begin now (at 73 !). But Hillary’s discovery of slow and easy skiing makes it look ALMOST doable for me . I 🤪
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. We are all very fortunate to have a chance to watch you two live out your dreams! I personally cannot wait to see where you land next. Hillary, you would probably prefer cross country skiing. Much slower.
amazing videos you guys have been putting out! love your channel! you guys look so happy. Thanks for everything that you are sharing! ❤️🥳☺️😎

this is great advice! Thank you for this. Hopefully if I can gather courage I can try again some day with proper help! haha (AKA not Greg! lol)
God bless you guys. At least you attempted skiing especially Hilary! Cheers to you both!
thank you amigo! It was NOT easy, but I can honestly say I tried!

Looks like you had a lot of fun and may have gotten a bit of a ski tan!

hahah thats right! You got those priorities straight!
Wow I learned how to Ski for the first time in Garmish in 1989 when I lived in Germany
You can not only see for miles, you can see to Italy from the Zugspitze!
YES! So cool!
and France (Mont Blanc) Austria (a walk at the mountain) Liechtenstein Switzerland
Got the ol' power wedge going, you're ready to ski. Pretty good for your first and second times out.

wow what a day and view
skiing is not easy
This is cool. specially the view
the views were incredible!!
The best thing is you tried and you did it (kinda 😜) Hillary is so funny! I like you guys!
Jeans are thee worst to wear when in the snow, no matter what you are doing
🏔 Amazing!!! (from 1:30)
the views were incredible!
Vi la noticia del descarrilamiento de un tren en Alemania, espero estén bien. Saludos desde La CDMX.
so sad :( sending everyone involved our thoughts and prayers.
As a Canadian growing up in the North I would like to chime in and ask Hillary, have you ever been on a pair of skates?
I have actually! I like ice skating....slowly :)
you can surfing at the "Eisabch" in Munich English Gareden
I only have had Aperol on ice. will have to try it. yes, alcohol!
haha! It was really strange...maybe because it wasn't super hot--just luke warm.
@@kinetickennons "Glühwein" for the cold
"Aperol Sprizz" for the hot
do it like the locals
Great place friend is beautiful thanks for sharing
Natural skiers are born and raised there, all other are mostly accident victims. ;) Oh! Btw you should try Nordic skiing.
09:00 if you've never skied before, you need a ski instructor because, with them you learn what you have to pay attention to, AND very important, you don't learn to ski well in one day ... *g*

hahaha!
The igloo hotel is amazing!
YES!
Greg looks like his eyes got burned. He had glasses for a reason, but I guess he knows better than the other people.
Now I understand why Canadians move to a warm weather countries, snow is beautiful but cold weather no bueno, are European friendly?

Did you decide to give up on living in Puerto Vallarta Mexico ?

@@kinetickennons Of course, it's expensive! But don't be hard on yourself! The conditions are extreme, and you were being prudent!
Truthfully and respectfully. I wouldn't have anyone ski when inexperienced.
well--there's a first time for everything!
Einfach nur dumm
Guys I went to Vallarta and had tacos de pastor at las Güeras it was soooo good and the ciruela water as well, I told them hey I came because Greg and Hilary are fans and the guy at the pastor stand said oh yeah the RUclipsrs so me and my family had a very nice dinner the salsa verde was delicious and I loved how you open the water from the sink, I wish I could’ve seen you for some autographs! 🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧
