The way the pistol works is the direction they should have gone with the rifle thermal red dot. Let the user position the thermal camera wherever they want. Provide a setup mode to position the overlay in the correct spot. Bonus points for offering a wired version instead of relying on wireless.
Holosun is working hard to be the only gun accessories company that matters. I'm hoping they will one day start selling kits that come with optic, light, IR laser, Thermal, etc.
@@Centermass762 Chinese manufacturing is much less expensive than American manufacturing. There's also the fact that most of the American companies are aiming for MIL and LE contracts, so they attach a hefty markup to the retail price. The least expensive American made VCSEL LAM I'm aware of is the Designate IR-V, which has a retail price of $1,999.
@@Centermass762 Because they are competing with the Chinese defense conglomerate which produces for the PLA and receives state-subsidies, and intentionally dumps onto the American market in order to recieve product feedback and testing. There IS no competition.
I own tons of holosun optics and I have no qualms saying this. Their QC is totally hit and miss. I'm sure a gen 2 will be awesome but I wouldn't trust gen 1 anything from them
Hearing that the new IR laser / IR illuminator is VCSEL based is fantastic news. If they can put a damn Crane plug on the thing and deliver it for close to that $800 mark that would be absolutely amazing.
I can see the pistol thermal red dot being useful as a piggyback optic on a rifle scope, allowing the CQB capability of a red dot of course, but in addition with that thermal, a capability of scanning for targets as well
If there were to be a hard wire option for something like that, it's the only way I would go for it. I just don't trust wireless for increased latency and decreased reliability concerns
Part of it because the product doesn’t actually exist always. Thats been an issue with them. Like the night vision they’ve released twice yet no one has them.
If having the sensor separate from the optic helps with thermal range and resolution then maybe it would be better to split the optic and sensor with the sensor being close to the barrel and have a wire running to the optic. Seems like that would help with weight too
Seeing the tailcap come off the RAID has definitely increased my interest in it. I initially thought it was just going to be another 18650 powered option, but it looks like it might be 21700 cells instead. NOW it might have something new going for it.
I am a bit sad about the price point on the light. Being only 20ish bucks shy of a cloud defensive rein legacy kit is a bit much. At that point the Streamlight has them beat price wise by like 60-80 bucks and the performance isn’t that much lower. Maybe they’ll lower the price tho. But god damn that LAM price is 👌🏻. If that thing works as well as advertised that will be a game changer.
It's been so long since I've seen anyone use the word "pwned" I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there are people around now that don't even know it and just assume there's a typo in the title.
I'd like to see the pistol version made for rifles by integration into a PEQ. Imagine an ACOG with thermal out to 200m because your PEQ is IR/Vis/Therm.
Yeah 500,000 dead Ukrainians. This war between My Slavic brothers has been brought by international parasites. None off us want it and lies pushed on US media that they can win against Russia has contributed to total destruction of Ukraine and enriched the leaders that are not even ethnic Slavic people.
It’s a little early to call Ukraine successful, the war’s not over. Also they’re using Kel-tec sub2000s in Ukraine, that doesn’t mean kel-Tec should advertise the sub2k as some rugged military grade rifle. It’s a plastic shit blaster, the Ukrainians are just desperate for guns.
@@lovesox many soldiers in current active war zones are using them. They’re great. Maybe not the best for a military armory that will pass them from soldier to soldier for years, probably wouldn’t last that kind of durability trijicon would be better for that. But for an individual soldiers rifle they’re gtg no lmao needed
Wireless feels iffy to me. It's less than ideal even in consumer tech let alone a potential leo or warzone scenario. But who knows, maybe they will nail it.
The Holosun guy is full of it. I'm an FFL and use some of the biggest suppliers in north america... the DRS NV has not shipped. If it has must have went somewhere unknown.
All rechargeable batteries have a charging cycle limit. About how long before the optics that use non-replaceable battery packs become bricks? All electronics are vulnerable to the usual failings of electronic devices, capacitors wearing out, pcb shorts, solder-joint/point breakage, etc. However, the life-expectancy of standard electronics is generally measured in decades depending on how well the device is taken care of. I have a 30 year old red-dot, not an expensive one either. As long as I can find batteries, it still works and does it's job. Eventually, it won't. But it has given me service far longer than I would have guessed. If I could be guaranteed that an non-replaceable rechargeable cell would last at least ten years, and the feature set of the device was good enough, I might consider the prices being ask for them worth it. Otherwise, these are truly disposable.
Rookie question….Is that new IR laser product just a laser for aiming? Is it also a light so you don’t need an extra light? Also, why are lasers popular for rifles and not so much for pistols?
My wallet might be getting lighter as the front of my rifle starts to weight 20 lbs 😂 Already have my bipod, light, foregrip, and offset backup iron sight… but I plan to add a can and might have to add this (relatively) affordable new IRIS. It looks pretty sick!
And thus every other LAM manufacturer in the civilian market just lost their entire customer base. *IF* it works as advertized it's an instant buy unless you just can't stand the "made in China" aspect.
I know the gun community is creaming their pants in regards to the thermal/NVG red dot. Cant wait to drop a paycheck on that bad boy when it comes out.
Is anyone else concerned with the field of view on these thermal/NV red dots? Imagine clearing your house or doing anything, and all you can see is the tiny window of your dot.
Yes…when the fuck are you going to release the IRIS and will you be able to cover even half the demand? It’ll be 3 years for the poor nobodies to to even get a chance even if they have the funds. It’ll be nice watching everyone on RUclips have their fun though
You need to look at Aaron Cowan (sage dynamic)'s review of the SCS. Holosun has a line of SCS (solar charging sight) optics and he has been very impressed with them and their brightness.
Probably the first time Hop had a genuine excited reaction for a shot show product haha
Hop is excited because now even the plebs will be just as frustrated as he is with the civilian night vision market… 😂
Facts
Noooo! Where was the hate, the anger, the eye rolling disappointment?!?!
I didn’t know it was biologically possible for him to get excited.
Seeing Hop display ANY level of excitement during a release certainly amps up my own degree of anticipation.
Never seen Hop smile but when he mentioned that price he cracked one

Genuinely didn't believe that $800 MSRP the first time I saw it. If these things aren't turds they're gonna be everywhere
As they should be. The boogaloo is coming and we need tech.
Makes me sick that American-owned companies really don't even attempt to compete with Holosun. I guess I'll just have to buy Chinese until they do.

It does use a Crane plug...
Yep as long as the QC is decent and it works as intended def picking one up
At a quick glance, I read the title font in the title as "Holosun Raid IRS" which did more to wake me up this morning than my coffee did.
I can see the pistol thermal red dot being useful as a piggyback optic on a rifle scope, allowing the CQB capability of a red dot of course, but in addition with that thermal, a capability of scanning for targets as well

Its amazing to me how many of these company reps knew so little about their products
Part of it because the product doesn’t actually exist always. Thats been an issue with them. Like the night vision they’ve released twice yet no one has them.
Kudos to Holusun for not releasing until it's ready. Too many companies release products before they work out the kinks.
With "pwned" in the title I knew hop would show up
roach dogg jr spotted
I can’t wait to see the reviews of the iris and the thermal sight.
I love when tactical deadpan grandma makes videos! Can't wait for more info on the Holosun stuff.
I've got 2 Holosun products and haven't had any complaints. Good price for what you get. Shake-awake is always a nice feature.
For $800 that's finally affordable with a month off not paying mortgage.
If having the sensor separate from the optic helps with thermal range and resolution then maybe it would be better to split the optic and sensor with the sensor being close to the barrel and have a wire running to the optic. Seems like that would help with weight too
That Chinese balloon worked out well for Holosun.
What do u mean pls

Holosun is killing it.
I have insane ideas for the pistol thermal thing.
If you appendix carry, you could see how warm your balls are.
Hey Hop got a new jacket and actually smiled for a review 2024 is gonna be wild.

The civ powered VCSEL better be good. I’m worried about the emitter sucking.
Holosun making some innovative stuff. Always excited to see what they’ve got
Fingers crossed they make a SCS for the Beretta 92 RDO guns

I'd like to see the pistol version made for rifles by integration into a PEQ. Imagine an ACOG with thermal out to 200m because your PEQ is IR/Vis/Therm.
A rare human emotion seen from Hop right there at that Iris price
I was all about the iris until i saw no vis overide. Im good. Wonder where rhe raid is built?
next year holosun will announce a $1000 pvs14 analog
They've been talking about their nv for over a year now. I havent seen anything hit the market
a great very interesting video and products Mr.Hop.have a good one.
Good wrap up. Thanks.
"Pwned". I feel like it's 2012 again
More like 2003
Hop said “Punch it.” …I am happy. Good stuff. 👍🏻
Holosun makes battle-proven optics. They have been used successfully in Ukraine.

Being to battle and battle proven are two very different things.
So do we have any numbers relating to the illuminator performance?
Wireless feels iffy to me. It's less than ideal even in consumer tech let alone a potential leo or warzone scenario. But who knows, maybe they will nail it.
Embrace it. The future is now
Does anyone know when the RAID will be available?
Light should’ve came crane plug in rear cap in package
Hop excited about NV gear.... No one is surprised by this.
I’ve never seen hop actually get excited for something
I'd like to see if they'll dripthe Iris or something similar in a titanium body
I told people last year Holosun was coming out with a VCSEL unit and they didn't believe me.
I thought that was common knowlege for a while now?
Post Hop is always best Hop.
Why would I want a larger AEMS? What does the extra size get me?
More light transmission.
Hey Hop ! did u get to talk with Mark LaRue at Shot Show?? if so..whats up with him?? what new with LaRue?..videos?
I really cant wait for the iris
The Holosun guy is full of it. I'm an FFL and use some of the biggest suppliers in north america... the DRS NV has not shipped. If it has must have went somewhere unknown.
It'd be cool if they make a the IRIS as a LEP Light Emitting Phosphorus version
Hop - What sun glasses are those? Those magpul glasses?
I hope they duel fuel the light with CR123.
The fact that we can't get a quality/affordable IR LED in the US is wild.
Why?
The scs needs to be in red.
Hop excited :|
Hop impressed :|
Hop bored :|
Shit I need a really good laser and light that doesn’t break the break.
Aim point has snuck into the chat taking notes

Hmm. Light with magnetic charging. Where have we seen this before? 💥🔥
Lol olight and now some cheaper Amazon companies.
Rookie question….Is that new IR laser product just a laser for aiming? Is it also a light so you don’t need an extra light? Also, why are lasers popular for rifles and not so much for pistols?
Yes, you will have to pair it with a white light. The IRIS will only give you IR and visible laser as well as IR illuminator capabilities.
It's for night vision.
It’s to pair with night vision gear
Civilian OGL and Holosun VCEL LAM....What is this world we're living in!?!
So who's hosting betting on the race to make affordable NODs
Hop. Kuhl new jacket.
He say $180 or $108 for the flashlight?
Hop - Schwing!
Don't you mean pwn3d?
Take my money!
That little pistol themal piggybacked on acog.... bro its over
All hail the H O R B
People still say pwned?

That might be the worst combination of accessories I've ever heard of.
Bipod or foregrip. Pick one and ditch the other.
So shocking to find out that the King of Goth Rock Andrew Eldritch is actually a popular Guntuber.
Idk why they would make the stand alone unit wireless. Everything has wires now days. Just use a fucking wire
Holosun is Chinese owned and they use our purchases as research for the PLA

Still better than your FOV without white light.
China uses the US market to test their products for the PLA
❤
It’s always cute to see the American Holosun guys talking like they’re the ones designing the product lol
im sure they have an R&D branch in the USA...
Holosun needs o fix their website, it crashes faster than a Boeing 737 max.......
INTRO WAYYYY TO LONG
China No.1!!!

Great product terrible costumer service. Check BBB complaints and different media outlets. No more for me. Thank you for the video.
Why is holosun working on this goofy ass pistol thermal if their rifle thermal isn't done yet? Smh
noice
I like holosun, but I don’t like funding companies that supply the pla
By writing this comment on a device you just funded Chinese Semiconductor Industry.
American companies should do better.
Lol what are you typing this comment from my guy?

still weaker than somogear IR. (guessing)

Tu lam training a known communist and working with holosun (RND for ccp) don’t sit right with me
Gonna go out on a limb here and say the title of this video sucks. Good video tho 👍
Hop is your spell checker disabled?...lol
