My take on this, maybe the wife was overwhelmed considering they owed her brother some amount of money. The guest cannot even remember how much they owe. If you owe someone, and you get a fortune, the best thing is to pay back the debt before thinking of venturing into another business. Who knows what burden the lady was carrying if the husband cannot even account for what they had borrowed.

Hi Wambui, this man needs a counselor. I won't blame the wife because both of them might be suffering mentally. Coming from where they were in life and the way everything came down. He is failing one part, kids needs their dad, and keeping yourself away from them you are creating a bigger gap day by day.
