The chemistry between Mike and Martin was great! Donovan fought hard for the cause of the resistance and it was great to see a sympathetic visitor that saw and understood was Donovan was trying to do for his people and wanting to help Donovan. After seeing the cruel and brutal nature of all the other visitors like Diana, Steven,Brian and the rest it was very refreshing to see that there was hope and resistance within the ranks of the visitors and Martin perfectly underlined that!
I totally agree with that, eversince he took on the tall and superior Charles in the series after the Final battle episodes he CERTAINLY proved his legendary status!!!
The 'V' staff car which Martin drives to rendez-vous with Mike Donovan still looks very modern, cool and relevant. The Visitors either manufacture their own version of an Earth car which they made on their planet and imported/exported it to Earth or required these cars 'locally' by a motor manufacturer to order and had them custom built for visitors to drive them!
As with the chemical manufacturing contracts, I think the Visitors did everything they could to ingratiate themselves with rich human industrialists. That probably means spending lots and lots of money on local goods and services. I would assume that also meant cars.
@@MightyGalvatron Indeed. One also has to take international (or should I say inter galactic) exchange rates into account. If the Visitors' currency is stronger than the respective Earth one! This would obviously affect costs when spending on foreign (or interplanetary) ventures!
@@sanchoodell6789 It wouldn't surprise me if the Visitors have an abundance of precious metals that they can use as currency. Their technology would make it a snap to mine other planets or asteroids for mineral wealth. They weren't really interested in anything but our food and water because we probably didn't have any else of value to them.
That’s a Chrysler, LeBaron, maybe…I don’t think the Visitors made their own cars or brought similar vehicles with them. They probably “borrowed” them from local dealers. Besides, look carefully at the hood ornament; that’s the Chrysler symbol.
It makes sense they use indigenous technology and infrastructure when practical. They don't have unlimited resources, after all they're here to acquire resources. If fossil fuels and combustion engines are obsolete to them, so much the better, because they get utility without consuming any valuable assets.
When this movie V came out in 1983, I was a freshman in high school in the city of Hacienda heights California? That was some kind of science fiction movie ever made that I have seen before when science fiction movies came out especially during the Cold War era like 1950's? I wish that I could have that reptilian voice but it was just an electronic system wrapped around the throat.
Nope. The original Miniseries was the best. Done by Kenneth Johnson. The "Final Battle" was totally alternated. If Kenneth Johnson would have had his way.. it would have been with the other Aliens coming to earth to redeem Earth from the Visitors... But ah.-.. Perhaps the "saviors" were not what earth hoped for as Martin said when he had Donovan in the human egg silo aboard the L.A mothership. As well as the fight would still go on as most of humanity would still be on par with the visitors from their indoctrination and believe that they are here to "save earth". Just like Juche in North Korea. That was the whole idea about it. But aless, they scratched... and what we got instead was a low budget weekly horrendous tv show that lasted barely 1 season... And the re-make?..... Oh please.
Hi. This scene was filmed at Point Vicente in Rancho Palos Verdes (south of Los Angeles) close to a little lighthouse. In the video (@ 0:24) you can actually see the Point Vicente Interpretive Center. It's the house with a dark roof which still sits there today. The area hasn't really changed much after nearly 40 years as it is part of a nature park.
Wouldn't it be funny if Mike forgot to lift up the handbrake on his truck so it rolled off the cliff and crashed into the sea. Would the men carry on talking business pretending it didn't happen and of course Mike would have to get dropped off at the nearest bus stop
for me, Donovan and Martin's friendship was the keystone to this whole show.
Yes indeed
Spot on.
True friendship is not about species or race or sex. It is about understanding, and shared values.
Well said

The Logos Of The Visitors Was So Cool. V Changed Everything. Changed Television. Great Great Show.
I love how Martin showed up at this secret meeting in a company car.
Chrysler LeBaron, isn't it?
Well if he went driving around in a non company car that would probably raise more suspicions.

MIKE DONOVAN IS LEGEND

@@yuljohnson2467I bet Duncan Regehr and Marc Singer had a good laugh between takes, their scrap was TV gold.
Martin was my favourite character.
Me too! He was snarky, but cool. It's a shame they killed him in the 1st episode of the series
@@SJHFoto, the second run yes, but Martin must have been popular though, they brought him back, sort of, in the form of his 'twin' brother!
@@GGGritzer I know, but it wasn't the same. The only thing about the series I liked was the trading cards that came out with it
@@SJHFoto, I know it wasn't the same but I was delighted Frank Ashmore was back, even better that he was in command!
SJHFoto it was an unpopular decision amongst V fans, but they had a great friendship Martin and Donovan always helping each other out where necessary.

It's so 80's that Martin is driving a Chrysler K car derivative.
Shows that not all Visitors are like Diana. They're really not that different from us, some are good, some are very bad, some are nice, some are mean.
Tyler was right, though.
Willie was also a good Visitor.
This was such an awesome show when I was a kid.

Do you have to do that

The weekly series start off kind of ok. But then it turned into a silly soap opera, sadly.
